The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 349: Chapter 349: Conducting an Experiment to Experience Humanity

Teaching Sun Ke can’t just be lip service; it needs to be applied thoroughly to leave a deep impression.

Song Ci smiled warmly and said, ”Out of ten people, all ten judge by appearance. Don’t believe me? Let’s do a little experiment and make a bet while we’re at it.”

The grandsons shivered. Can we not? It feels like you will win.

No, you can’t avoid it!

She is a knowledgeable and good grandmother.

Song Ci called over Song Lingzhou and pointed to the West Corner Gate of Yiyan Courtyard, saying, ”Go to the big gate over there and pretend to cry because you’re lost.”

Song Lingzhou pointed at himself, ”Me?”

”Yes, you, it’s you. Hurry up, and I’ll give you an extra drumstick when it’s done.”

She then called over two guards, gave them some instructions, and the guards left with Song Lingzhou. Song Ci also took a few grandsons to find a spot with a view of the gate.

Behind them, some people also followed to watch the fun.

Not long after, Song Lingzhou, dressed up to look like a young child, stood alone at the gate, looking helpless and crying sadly. Soon, people approached curiously to ask questions, probably asking which family he belonged to, if he was lost, and if they should help him find his family.

After trying with about a dozen people, Song Lingzhou left.

The crowd: ”...”

That’s it?

They expressed confusion.

”Grandmother?”

”Don’t rush!” Song Ci gave them a meaningful look.

After a moment, a dirty and ragged little beggar stood again at the West Corner Gate.

Song Lingsu and the others immediately recognized that it was Song Lingzhou.

The people initially didn’t recognize him, but after the Song Family Young Master pointed it out, they knew it was the little young master Song who was the cherubic little child earlier.

Unlike before, this time no one approached to ask Song Lingzhou anything, and some even avoided him while holding their noses.

Song Lingsu and the others suddenly understood something and looked at Song Ci.

”Do you think judging by appearance has its merits? The same person, with such a stark difference.” Song Ci laughed and said, ”Doing this little experiment, it’s not to say all clean and tidy people are good. Some people might be well-dressed but could be deceitful. This experiment tells you the importance of appearance and demeanor. Doesn’t your reading all state, ’If you can’t sweep a room, how will you sweep the world?’ That’s the logic. If you keep yourself tidy and have literary talent, won’t you accomplish things with half the effort? But if you’re sloppy, people won’t even want to talk to you.”

Song Lingsu blushed, bowed, and said, ”Grandson has learned the lesson.”

Song Ci patted his shoulder. This grandson was excellent in all aspects, but he was a bit too strict and not relaxed enough. As the eldest son of the eldest son, he couldn’t be rigid.

Song Lingzhou had already returned, feeling uncomfortable, and said, ”Grandmother, I’ve washed, but I still smell rancid.”

The guards had gone too far and poured sour water all over him.

”Be good, this is a great opportunity to temper your character. By standing there earlier, didn’t you already experience the fickleness of human nature? You see, I didn’t let your brothers play the role, which shows how much I care for you. In the future, you should understand how to use your strengths and weaknesses to handle things.”

Song Lingzhou: ”...”

It feels wrong, but it sounds good.

Song Lingzhao and the others looked at their foolish little brother and couldn’t help but ruffle his hair. ”Little brother, poor you. We’ll treat you to ten jin of candied figures later.”

”Every time I meet Madam Song, there’s always a refreshing feeling; I’ve learned from her as well.”

A sudden voice came from behind.

Song Ci turned around and saw a young man dressed in moon-white robes, wearing a White Jade Crown, and holding a Purple Bamboo Flute, bowing to her with a smile.

Song Ci’s eyes lit up. A handsome and elegant young nobleman, he looked familiar. Where had she seen him before?

”I am Cui Changxiao, greetings to Madam. Wishing you good health.”

Cui...

Oh, that Cui Changxiao of the Cui family, the illustrious young nobleman known throughout the land?
