The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 321: Chapter 321 Auntie Asks to See You

On the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Imperial Palace hosts a banquet, and Song Ci is naturally on the invitation list. However, the night before the festival, she overeats two crabs and drinks chrysanthemum wine, ending up with a stomachache at midnight, miserably becoming a toilet tyrant and stirring up the whole family.

The palace banquet was out of the question, so Song Ci could only have her eldest daughter-in-law excuse her absence.

Madam Song was worried about Song Ci’s health and wanted to ask for leave too, but Song Ci stopped her.

”It’s not a big deal, just take a couple of doses of medicine, and it’ll be fine. With Lin Qing here, why do you all need to stay? The Prime Minister’s Mansion can’t have everyone from the female quarters absent,” Song Ci waved her hand.

Madam Song asked Lin Qing and confirmed it wasn’t a big problem, so she didn’t insist and went to the palace to attend the banquet herself.

Lin Qing personally prepared the medicine and brought it over. Seeing Song Ci’s look of disgust, she teased, ”Now you know the consequences of not controlling your mouth, right? Let’s see if you’ll dare next time!”

”Stop it. Such a plump basket of crabs, and I can’t taste them anymore. My heart’s aching, and you’re twisting the knife,” Song Ci said gloomily.

Lin Qing said, ”No problem, we’ll eat, and you can watch.”

Song Ci rolled her eyes, ”Is this something a human would say? Aren’t you a devil?”

Lin Qing smiled, ”Didn’t I learn this from you? Come, drink the medicine, and I’ll allow you to eat two pieces of candied fruit.”

Song Ci sighed, ”Oh well, can’t escape it, really can’t escape.”

The whole room burst into laughter, leading everyone to join in the fun with jokes and banter.

Unable to attend the palace banquet, Song Ci couldn’t stay idle. She gathered all the children at home and had each of them come up with riddles, post prizes in Liyuan, and whoever guessed them could give out their prizes.

The children found it fresh and amusing, and they all went off thoroughly. They wrote riddles and marked them with prizes.

Song Ci herself wrote a few riddles, and Lin Qing and others joined in, writing a few more and encouraging the maids and old women to join in. Of course, their prizes were likely just small trinkets, but it was fun for everyone to be involved.

All in all, there were quite a few riddles available for guessing and playing.

Besides this, Song Ci also had people prepare some white xuan paper and bamboo strips to make Kongming Lanterns for playing in the evening.

That’s Song Ci for you, always finding a way to have fun.

”Madam, Aunt Shui and Aunt Mei are outside the courtyard. They heard you’re unwell and wanted to attend to you and also pay their respects,” Hong You reported.

Song Ci frowned slightly, ”Didn’t I say there’s no need for them to serve or uphold any formalities?”

The original old lady didn’t like these ’romantic rivals,’ so there’s no reason for her to give them a nice face either.

”Should I dismiss them?”

”Yes, dismiss them. I don’t need them here,” Song Ci waved her hand.

Hong You responded crisply, turned to leave, but was stopped by Song Ci at the door.

Song Ci thought for a moment and said, ”Wait, let them come in.”

Hong You was a bit surprised but didn’t think too much, quickly going out and leading the two concubines inside.

Aunt Mei was somewhat surprised that the Madam would actually see them, while Aunt Shui was feeling nervous and anxious, as this was her second time seeing Song Ci since entering the mansion.

”This concubine pays respects to the Madam, wishing you good health and happiness,” Aunt Mei gracefully curtsied while greeting Song Ci.

Aunt Shui imitated her, curtsying gracefully, her head slightly bowed, her voice soft enough to drip water.

”No need for such etiquette, rise,” Song Ci lounged lazily on the pillow, lazily raising her hand, her gaze falling on Shui Lianlian.

She’s learned. Not wearing white today, she wore blue, gentle like water. After a few days at the Prime Minister’s Mansion, she’s becoming more and more charming and elegant.

Hm, she’s almost envious of the white bread’s romantic fortune!
