The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 337: Chapter 337: Understanding What Capital Is

Upon learning that the somewhat unfortunate Fu Qing was granted a marriage, Song Ci remarked to Nanny with some sentiment.

”The Emperor finally did something a human would do.”

Nanny nearly covered her mouth, shaking her head and scolding, ”Grand Madam.”

This one dares to say anything, not the least bit afraid of being overheard by walls.

Song Ci chuckled awkwardly, ”A slip of the tongue, a slip of the tongue.”

But it was indeed a bit unexpected. Some emperors don’t care whether you’re betrothed or not; even if you are, as long as the Emperor wants it, as soon as he opens his mouth, the minister must comply, then it’ll be as if nothing happened, and you wouldn’t be granted another marriage as compensation.

So, in a way, Emperor Chu is doing okay as an emperor.

”It’s also that Miss Fu has that good fortune. Some people, once taken away, it’s just taken.” Nanny said.

Song Ci: ”That’s right, doesn’t she see what kind of fortune our Baoyu has? Born with good fortune, anyone close to him gains a little luck, don’t they?”

Though it’s a remarrying, do you think it’s easy to become the Princess Consort of a Commandery Prince? Fu Qing’s family background is just average, her father is only a small Deputy Magistrate, this Princess Consort title falling upon her is like being hit by a big pie.

That’s an Imperial Decree Princess Consort with ranks, and as a member of the royal clan, she will be part of the Royal Family in the future.

”I dare bet ten preserved plums, the Emperor must have valued her for being good at childbearing. Didn’t they say that the children in Prince Qing’s family were quite few?”

Nanny replied helplessly, ”How could the Emperor have possibly seen her?”

Song Ci made a sound of disdain, ”Does he need to meet her in person? Send someone to investigate, match the birthdates, and it’s settled, isn’t it.”

”You’re right, it is indeed my shallow thinking.”

Song Ci waved her hand and sighed, ”Speaking of which, saying Baoyu is lucky is indeed correct. Look, the two girls we thought of for him, whether things worked out or not, their eventual outcome seems quite nice.”

Nanny laughed and said, ”It shows that Fourth Master is truly a fortunate person.”

”Mm. As long as Madam Shen is happy, and the young girl doesn’t have to be gossiped about, it’s all good.”

Nanny thought, how could Madam Shen not be happy, her niece becoming a Princess Consort, turning into a member of the Royal Family, she’s beaming with pride.

As for remarrying, in the face of status, it really means nothing, especially since Prince Qing has no legitimate son. If Fu Qing shows promise and gives birth to a legitimate son, her position would be secure.

It was at this time that Song Zhiyuan walked in and told Song Ci that the Observatory had calculated several auspicious days, asking her to make a decision.

”Prince Dingbei only has the Commandery Princess as a daughter, his intention is to have the two marry early, and he can oversee the grand wedding while in the capital.” Song Zhiyuan pointed to an auspicious day, ”He wishes for the auspicious day of October 8th.”

”Wouldn’t that be too rushed? Looking carefully, everything is happening one after another, the Autumn Exams are in mid-September, the Emperor’s birthday conveniently falls after the ranking announcement, and Qi’er’s coming-of-age ceremony is on November 2nd, with the Princes’ grand weddings in December. There’s just over two months until October; the marriage was granted hastily, and we haven’t prepared anything. Wouldn’t it be too unfair for the young lady?” Song Ci was a bit hesitant, ”Even the new room needs to be repainted, right?”

Song Zhiyuan laughed and said, ”Prince Dingbei says none of this is a problem, as long as we agree, he will ask the Emperor to have the Ministry of Industry’s people renovate, and it can be painted within ten days. As for the bride price and dowry, with silver, it can be arranged, and most of the dowry will probably be over in the Northeast.”

Hearing this, Song Ci looked at him with a somewhat complicated expression.

”Does mother disagree?”

”Not exactly.” Song Ci sighed, ”I just feel like I’ve truly experienced the prehistoric power of capital and authority!”

Song Zhiyuan: ”...”
