The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 347: Chapter 347: I Heard Your Place... Became a Lake

Song Zhiyu’s glorious deed of ’jumping into the lake’ in dissatisfaction with the imperial marriage gift spread throughout the entire noble circle. Although the original voice claimed it was an accident, nine out of ten chose not to believe it.

Unbelievable, which of the women who accompanied Song Family’s Jade Young Master was not tender and stunning, whereas the future daughter-in-law, though not crude and burly, was definitely not tender. This disparity was too vast; who wouldn’t despair?

When people are desperate, they become irrational, and everyone understands that.

Therefore, explanations are weak; the more you explain, the more you appear to be covering up.

The Song Family simply kept silent. If you want to discuss, go ahead. This way, people will know that this marriage was not something we, the Song Family, shamelessly begged for, so the charge of forming cliques for private gain cannot be pinned on us.

Emperor Chu also heard about it, and with a raised eyebrow, he looked at Song Zhiyuan: ”I heard your youngest brother jumped into the lake? Dissatisfied with my marriage gift?”

Song Zhiyuan looked heartbroken: ”My younger brother is young and shallow, and he is particularly fond of fair-skinned beauties with long legs. Your Majesty, when he grows older, he will understand the reasoning behind beauty fading and love diminishing, that inner quality is what’s important.”

Emperor Chu: ”...”

Prince Dingbei also heard about it and stopped Song Zhiyuan: ”I heard my son-in-law jumped into the lake? Is it because my daughter isn’t beautiful enough?”

Song Zhiyuan said righteously: ”Come, let’s go back to the mansion and give him a beating. The boy is unruly; a good beating will make him behave.”

Prince Dingbei: Are you sure you brothers are born of the same parents?

Prime Minister Fan also heard the news and looked at Song Zhiyuan with a half-smile: ”I heard your little rascal jumped into the lake? Prime Minister Song sure has a good scheme, making old me ashamed of myself.”

Song Zhiyuan looked innocent: ”I don’t understand what you’re saying, what scheme? My mother often teaches me not to overthink, as overthinking leads to baldness.”

Prime Minister Fan puffed his beard and glared, subconsciously touching his increasingly thinning bun, secretly wondering if he should add some false hair when styling it?

All the gossip made Song Zhiyu momentarily not dare to step outside, honestly ’recovering’ at home, too embarrassed to face people!

And regardless of the outside discussions, the Song Family remained unmoved. With the marriage date already set between the two families, Prince Dingbei requested, and with a stroke of the Emperor’s pen, the people from the Ministry of Industry entered the Song Family, comprehensively refurbishing and repainting the Fengfeng Pavilion, this new room.

Besides the Song Family, the new room for the young couple at Prince Dingbei’s Mansion also needed refurbishing and repainting, as it would be the place where the young couple would live for a long time.

The wedding date was approaching, and both the Song Family and Prince Dingbei’s Mansion got busy. On the Song Family’s side, Song Zhiyu’s marriage was treated as the top priority. The new room needed painting, betrothal gifts needed preparation, and the guest feast on the wedding day was of utmost importance.

Madam Song was so busy that her feet barely touched the ground. Even Mrs. Jiang, who was pregnant, helped out with some light tasks like making the guest list and arranging the feast.

With both sisters-in-law busy, Mrs. Lu had to move as well. Since Mrs. Jiang took on the guest list, she took over some of the mansion’s affairs, becoming completely mobile, going wherever Madam Song directed her.

And the old Madam Song Ci?

While everyone else was busy, she was the only one idle, idly circling her storage room dozens of times, gradually adding some of her good things to the betrothal gifts.

”By the way, go and ask the old master to add something too. After all, it’s the youngest son’s wedding, and the daughter-in-law is a Commandery Princess. With such fortune, the Song Family’s ancestral tomb is emitting blue smoke. We must add some fine items to the betrothal gifts.”

Nanny Gong glanced at her: ”Old Madam, you’ve forgotten. The old master went to the estate a couple of days ago.”

Song Ci: ”...”

Forgot. That dog of a man found the renovations in the mansion noisy and ran away with his concubines. Truly shameless.
