The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 293: Chapter 293: Am I Just a Person Who Judges by Appearances?

Pan’er was practicing her sword in the courtyard when she heard that the guard escorting Song Zhiyu had returned. She sheathed her sword and took the handkerchief Yuan Yi handed her to wipe the sword, asking while doing so, ”Song Si is only now back at the mansion?”

”Reporting to the Commandery Princess, after leaving the city gates, Song Si went to the cockfighting arena and then to the Drunken Immortal pleasure boat, only then did he return to the mansion.”

Yuan Yi rolled his eyes, a typical playboy. I still don’t know what the Commandery Princess sees in him, making us keep an eye on him.

Pan’er nodded, ”Nothing happened during that time, did it?”

The subordinate replied, ”No, Song Si was quite popular.”

”Alright, you may go then.”

The guard bowed and retreated.

Yuan Yi couldn’t help but ask, ”Commandery Princess, didn’t I say nothing would happen? Why worry about that guy?”

Pan’er smiled, ”He went out with us; it’s only right to make sure he returns safely, or how would I explain it to the Grand Madam?”

Yuan Yi muttered, ”It was just a chance encounter. Besides, does someone his age really need to be followed everywhere?”

”He’s still a child.”

Yuan Yi’s mouth twitched, ”Someone who’s about to get matched for marriage, still a child?”

Subordinate thinks you’re pulling my leg.

Pan’er laughed softly, ”It’s just to keep an eye, better than regretting later if something happens.”

”I just think you’re too nice to that lad,” Yuan Yi’s mind suddenly cleared, and he exclaimed, ”Commandery Princess, don’t tell me you’ve taken a liking to that pretty boy and want to make him your husband!”

Pan’er’s heart skipped a beat, and she glared, ”Nonsense, what are you imagining? How could this Commandery Princess be someone who cares only about looks. If you’re so idle, come and practice with me.”

She kicked a spear into the air towards him.

Yuan Yi caught it, looking at her with suspicion on his face, thinking if you aren’t blushing, I’ll believe your words.

...

Meanwhile, Song Zhiyu was completely unaware that he was being talked down, as he was clinging shamelessly to Song Ci’s leg, begging for mercy.

”Mother, my dear mother, without freedom, I’d rather die. You confine my feet, this is asking for my life!”

Song Ci let him cling to her leg, sneering, ”Relax, you’re born with a rich man’s fate, destined for long life and prosperity, you won’t die young.”

Listen, everyone, listen, is this something a mother should say?

His life is so bitter.

”Mother, I just went out for a little bit, normally I go out and play like this and you never punish me, why today, are you no longer fond of your precious child?” Song Zhiyu looked up.

But Song Ci just smiled, pinching his raised face, pulling hard, and said, ”How could that be, you are the apple of my eye; if not you, then who? That’s why I’ve made arrangements for you, Madam Shen’s niece, virtuous in every way, lovely too, perfect for you. I’ve settled it for you!”

”What! Mother, we agreed I’d have to meet her first and agree to it!” Song Zhiyu jumped up.

Song Ci gave him a sidelong glance, ”I gave you the chance; it was you who didn’t seize it. I figured you wanted me to make the decision for you!”

”I forgot, I absolutely forgot to do this before going out. Mother, please show mercy, I insist on meeting the girl first; I don’t want to be stuck with an ugly one for life.”

”Don’t worry, that Miss Fu is quite presentable. You definitely won’t have nightmares, and you’ll be blissfully happy,” Song Ci said, full of implication. With Fu Qing’s figure, how could one not be blissfully happy?

Nanny: I believe you’re telling a dirty joke, I just can’t catch you at it.

Song Zhiyu: ”...”

His world was crashing down, who would save him!
