The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 272: Chapter 272: Climbing Up the Pole

Madam Song and Mrs. Lu escorted Song Ci back to Chunhui Hall, then dispersed to their own affairs. Madam Song did not hurry back to her main courtyard but instead first went to Lin Qing’s Bamboo Study.

”Doctor Lin, we are truly indebted to you. Our family will be welcoming a new member soon. My second sister-in-law says you are a Divine Doctor, and indeed, she wasn’t wrong,” Madam Song complimented.

Lin Qing modestly replied, ”It was a coincidence, I don’t deserve such praise from you, Madam. The foundation of the Second Madam wasn’t bad to begin with, I didn’t expect it to happen so soon.”

Madam Song enviously said, ”My sister-in-law is indeed younger. Alas, I don’t know if I still have such fortune.”

She touched her abdomen with a somber expression.

Lin Qing then said, ”Children are about destiny. Your pulse is also good; it’s just that the destined time has not arrived. Such things cannot be rushed.”

Taking the opportunity, Madam Song said, ”Could you feel my pulse again?”

Lin Qing was momentarily taken aback, but then nodded compliantly and instructed the maid to fetch a medicinal pillow for a detailed pulse examination.

After a while, he withdrew his hands and said, ”Your health is very good, just remember to rest and not overwork yourself. Should I reconsider and adjust your remedy for you?”

Madam Song, not hearing the result she wanted, had a slight sadness in her eyes but smiled and said, ”Then I’ll trouble you, Doctor Lin.”

”It’s a simple task.”

Madam Song continued, ”Doctor Lin, since you’ve been here at the Prime Minister’s Mansion, my mother has smiled much more, treating you as part of the family. Look, my Qi’er is also engaged now, I’d like to entrust you with something.”

Lin Qing, clever as she was, already guessed the request, and smiled, ”Please, go on.”

”My Qi’er is set to marry next May. I’d like you to regulate her body during this period to prepare her. You know, at the Duke Ying Mansion, where there are many people and comparisons. My son-in-law is also getting on in years. He’s certainly eager to become a father, so...” Madam Song awkwardly said, ”Rest assured, I will give you additional compensation.”

”I understand your motherly intentions, Madam. If you trust me, I will examine her,” Lin Qing agreed.

Madam Song was overjoyed, stood up, and gave a solemn bow of gratitude, then left happily.

After she left, Asang came forward to tidy up the medicinal pillow, muttering softly, ”Master, Madam is really skilled at taking advantage. You were originally here just to regulate the health of the elder Madam.”

Now it’s as if you’re a regular physician in the residence.

Lin Qing replied, ”It’s just taking a pulse and adjusting the body, nothing major. And staying at the Prime Minister’s Mansion these days has been quite pleasant, it doesn’t matter. They also provide payment for consultations.”

In this regard, everyone at the Prime Minister’s Mansion does quite well.

”I just feel it’s unfair for you, Master.”

”Why unfair? I can freely browse the Book Collection Pavilion at the Prime Minister’s Mansion, where else could I have such a privilege? Besides, the elder Madam treats me well.” Lin Qing smiled slightly, ”Compared to the Lu Family, this place is much better, I’m very happy here.”

Asang’s expression slightly changed, quickly saying, ”Master, it’s my fault, bringing up sad memories for you.”

”It’s alright, it’s all in the past,” Lin Qing said. ”Go get paper and ink, I will change their prescription.”

Asang complied with a curtsy and soon fetched the paper and pen.

Once Lin Qing finished writing the prescription, a gift box arrived from the Jiang family. Upon opening it, to their surprise, apart from an exquisite lambfat white jade bracelet, there was also a silver note worth five hundred taels.

Lin Qing’s lips twitched; the Jiang family was indeed wealthy, as the elder Madam said, ’extravagant beyond measure.’

Seeing this, Asang’s grievances eased somewhat. The second Madam was indeed generous and considerate.
