The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 269: Chapter 269: Yielding to the Lewd Might of the Domineering Mother

Song Cibao became a matchmaker, so overjoyed that he could burst with happiness, but the moment he saw his hopeless fourth son, his good mood instantly flew away, and even the fried chicken in his mouth lost its flavor.

He couldn’t wait to fling his chopsticks at his infuriating son devouring his meal.

Crunch crunch.

Song Zhiyu bit into his fried chicken drumstick with a loud crunch. Not to brag, but ever since his mother fell ill and then seemed to have a revelation, she kept ordering the small kitchen to make all sorts of peculiar foods, which were surprisingly delicious.

Look at this fried chicken drumstick, oh my, why is it so crispy and so delicious?

”Mmm, if only there was some wine to pair with this, it would be a perfect match. Mom, don’t you think...” Song Zhiyu looked up, halting his biting action cautiously.

Crunch.

Song Ci: ”...”

Holding back laughter.

Song Zhiyu wiped his oily mouth and said, ”Mom, can you not look at me like that? I feel like you’re disgusted with me.”

Song Ci sneered, ”It’s not a feeling; I really am disgusted with you.”

”Why? Mom, you’re finding me more and more unpleasant. I haven’t done anything lately, not even gone to the gambling den. I’ve been behaving well.” Mainly because whenever he tried to go to the gambling den, he got thrown out.

Sigh, it’s not easy being the child of luck.

”Of course I find you unpleasant. Miss Wang is already getting engaged, and you haven’t even brought me back a wife. Yet, you have the nerve to eat my fried chicken. How can I not find you unpleasant? Your mother is lucky not to come haunting you at night...” Song Ci choked on her words and swallowed the remaining sentence.

July passed without incident, even on the darkest day of the Ghost Festival, the original old lady didn’t come to talk to her, which was a blessing.

Before, she always worried that the elder would pop over her bedside on Ghost Festival, so much so that she didn’t dare close her eyes at night.

”Which Miss Wang?” Song Zhiyu retorted.

”Who else, the one you look down upon.” Song Ci snorted and said, ”Your elder brother said that your marriage will be up to us to decide. I’ll have your elder sister-in-law invite Madam Shen from Left Chancellor’s residence over for a chrysanthemum viewing in a few days. There’s a girl there you should check out.”

Song Zhiyu, intrigued, asked, ”Is she pretty?”

”Not really, but...” Song Ci wanted to say she has a good figure, but then remembered it was ancient times, and one had to be cautious about a woman’s reputation. As a mother, she couldn’t casually comment on a young lady’s figure and looks.

”Anyway, I think she’s pretty good. You can have a look when the time comes.” Song Ci was referring to the niece-in-law of Madam Shen, whom the family had heard about, the one with a good figure.

If she’s not pretty, what’s the point in meeting her?

Song Zhiyu wanted to say no, but seeing his mother’s threatening gaze, he quickly recoiled in submission.

”I’ll see her, definitely.” Mother is the greatest, no choice but to comply.

”Mm, such a good child.” Song Ci contentedly withdrew her authoritative air.

Song Zhiyu gathered up the plates on the table and said, ”Mom, I’ll take my leave now.”

He quickly scampered off.

Song Ci clutched her empty chopsticks and roared, ”You little rascal, give me back my chicken drumstick.”

But he was already long gone.

Nanny said, ”Madam, let fourth young master take it if he wants. You’ve already had two, and too much fried food isn’t good. You’ll need to drink a couple of cups of honey water to soothe your throat later.”

Song Ci awkwardly put down her chopsticks and asked, ”Is Lin Qing back yet? Is there any news from the Jiang family? Should we go check it out?”

”Madam, wonderful news, wonderful news!” An old servant bustled in like a whirlwind, joyfully bowing to Song Ci, ”Madam, splendid news, the second madam is expecting!”
