The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 259: Chapter 259: Prime Minister Song Must Be a Devil, Right?

Emperor Chu thought, Prime Minister Song is truly unbearably vulgar, awarding gold and silver, how can he suggest such a thing.

Prime Minister Fan, on the other hand, thought that when it comes to shamelessness, Prime Minister Song has truly reached the pinnacle, second to none.

Duke Zhou thought, Prime Minister Song is so clever, such a trivial matter, how is it worth a marriage? Best to award gold and silver.

”Prime Minister Song, you do love to joke. Madam Song donates silver to the Military Relief Hall every year, would she lack silver coins?” Prime Minister Fan laughed and mocked.

Song Zhiyuan sighed, ”It’s precisely because she donates silver every year that there is no spare silver. Her old lady’s personal money is spent as she wishes, as her descendants, it’s not right for us to meddle, is it? At her age, this is her only joy!”

Donating money is a joy, your family must have a hundred million taels of gold!

Prime Minister Fan replied, ”Even for such a joy, one needs to have the silver to donate.”

”So, if His Majesty is to grant a reward, let it be some gold and silver?” Song Zhiyuan countered.

Prime Minister Fan: ”...”

Arguing with this brat Song is teeth-clenching.

Emperor Chu watched the two spar back and forth for several rounds, his eyebrows relaxed.

”Then let’s reward some gold and silver, hmm, Madam Fan should be rewarded as well.” Treating everyone equally prevents ministers from feeling cold-hearted.

Both Song Zhiyuan and Prime Minister Fan bowed to thank the Emperor for his grace.

After receiving the reward, and after discussing some state affairs, the two most powerful prime ministers left Yangxin Hall. In front of the hall, they exchanged a glance and snorted at each other.

”Prime Minister Song knows how to pander to His Majesty, preferring gold and silver over a marriage alliance, heh, no wonder Madam Song is said to have high moral character; it turns out Prime Minister Song follows her true teachings.”

Those words were a satirical jab.

Song Zhiyuan smiled and said, ”Thank you Prime Minister Fan for the compliment. Everyone says I resemble my mother, and even Prime Minister Fan says so, so I finally believe it.”

Prime Minister Fan: ”You! Prime Minister Song, don’t be too smug, Madam Song and Commandery Princess Dongyang are closely bonded, His Majesty sees it too.”

”Not only His Majesty, everyone in the imperial capital sees it, especially after the banquet at Duke Ying Mansion, who doesn’t see it? But what does it matter? Befriending those you find agreeable is only natural, isn’t it, Prime Minister Fan? See, Prime Minister Fan finds me disagreeable, hence we aren’t friends!”

Prime Minister Fan glared: ”Pah, brat, how am I finding you disagreeable!”

Song Zhiyuan feigned grievance, ”Everywhere seems disagreeable, but I understand. If it were me, I’d find myself disagreeable too. Look, I’m young, top scholar from both examinations, just past forty and already a prime minister, no wonder I’m disagreeable on all counts!”

Prime Minister Fan nearly spat blood, pointing at Song Zhiyuan with a trembling hand.

This must be a little devil!

This little bastard with a sharp tongue, he angers me so!

Song Zhiyuan watched Prime Minister Fan walk away, his smile faded, old codger.

Inside Yangxin Hall, Emperor Chu heard from the Dragon Guards about the duel between his left and right ministers outside the hall, and he chuckled.

Duke Zhou, seeing the emperor in a good mood, replaced his tea with a smile, ”Prime Minister Song, with that mouth, never lets go when he’s in the right.”

”Who can outtalk that mouth of his? Even the late emperor praised it.” Emperor Chu chuckled lightly.

Duke Zhou said, ”I wonder how Prime Minister Song grew that mouth, he hasn’t spared anyone.”

”Didn’t Prime Minister Fan say, it’s inherited from his mother. Madam Song had a quick tongue too.” Emperor Chu recalled the words that were transmitted, ”The saying about the stirring stick, now that was funny.”

The stick didn’t speak, but the shit jumped up first.

Oh, it’s killing me with laughter.

”Come, let’s go talk with the Empress Dowager, let her have a laugh too.” Emperor Chu stood up.
