Hidden Marriage, Overbearing Love: Mr! Please Let Me Go

”Did you put something in the food? Why did I feel dizzy and faint as soon as I finished eating? If you don’t believe me, ask Sister Chen. She’s the one who helped me back to my room to rest.” Ling Mei’s eyes sparkled, growing more excited as she spoke: ”So, you wanted to get me out of the way to create an opportunity for you and Che, or perhaps, you wanted to climb into his bed?”

”I, I didn’t...” Xia Qingqian listened, unable to defend herself, feeling like her heart was filled with bitterness that couldn’t be poured out.

”Didn’t you? After I finished eating, I fell asleep, just like you claim. Are you still trying to deny it?” Ling Mei pressed aggressively, ”I reacted after drinking the soup and eating the food you cooked...”

”Mom! What are you talking about! Don’t speak carelessly before finding out the truth!” Beitang Che’s face was full of shame and anger, seemingly realizing the gravity of the situation, he approached Xia Qingqian and said apologetically, ”Qing Qian, I’m sorry for this situation, I’m really sorry! I can assure you, we are innocent!”

Xia Qingqian shrank beside Beitang Huan, ignoring him, and instead tugged on Beitang Huan’s sleeve, saying, ”Huan, I want to leave here.”

”Qian Qian, don’t be afraid, I’ll take you away.” Beitang Huan held Xia Qingqian’s hand tightly, speaking gently.

Just then, a voice came: ”Second Madam, Old Master and Master are here.”

Xia Qingqian trembled with fear, wishing she could dig a hole and hide in it! If Grandpa and Beitang Yao’s father saw her all soaked in Beitang Che’s room, she’d be unable to defend herself!

”Qian Qian, don’t be afraid, you haven’t done anything wrong, there’s nothing to fear!” Beitang Huan gulped, pulling Xia Qingqian out of Beitang Che’s room.

At the door, they bumped into the Old Master and Beitang Ting.

”What’s happened? The servants told me something happened with Qian Qian and Che. What on earth is going on?” The old man scrutinized the scene before him, ”Qian Qian, why are your clothes wet?”

”Grandpa, Qian Qian’s wet clothes are because I splashed her. I’ll take her back now to change!” Beitang Huan smiled at the old man, wondering how the news had reached Grandpa so quickly.

Just as Beitang Huan was about to leave with Xia Qingqian, Ling Mei seemed unwilling to miss this chance, stepped out and stood in front of Beitang Ting, sighed, and said, ”Ting, look at the woman Yao brought back, what kind of woman she is, she dared to drug the food, make me faint, and make Che faint, enter Che’s room, and with something like this happening, I really don’t know what to say, sigh...”

”What? Is this true?” The old man glared with anger, his eyes wide, focusing his gaze on Xia Qingqian, and said with heartbreak, ”Qian Qian, what’s going on? How could you be in Che’s room? How could you do something so disgraceful?”

”Grandpa, I didn’t...” Xia Qingqian jolted with fear, hurriedly explained: ”I didn’t put anything in the food, I didn’t do anything...”

”Then how do you explain being in Che’s room, sleeping beside him? How do you explain this?” Ling Mei held her forehead, shedding a tear to make it more convincing: ”Qing Qian, I thought you were a good girl, but I didn’t expect you to have such a heavy heart! One Yao wasn’t enough, now you want to be with Che too?”

Xia Qingqian listened, her face turning pale, knowing in her heart that Second Madam was slandering her, but as an outsider, who would believe her over Ling Mei?
