Hidden Marriage, Overbearing Love: Mr! Please Let Me Go

”Then accept this little token from Grandpa, and let Yao’s chef make you something delicious.” The old man grew increasingly fond of Xia Qingqian as he looked at her, ”You and Yao must give Grandpa many grandchildren, all fair and chubby! Visit here more often, and Grandpa will have Sister Li make you something delicious.”

”Grandpa! It’s okay with Sister Huan here, no need to trouble Sister Li! Thank you for your kindness!”

Xia Qingqian gazed at the precious gift before her, feeling warm inside. She had never consumed such rare medicinal herbs before. Beitang Yao and Grandpa had given her such wonderful things, allowing her to enjoy a happiness others could only envy.

”Thank you!” Xia Qingqian nodded gratefully.

After dessert, the old man played a few rounds of chess with Xia Qingqian, then invited Xia Qingqian and Beitang Che to stay for dinner.

”Che, it’s getting late, take Qian Qian home!” The old man sipped his tea, talking to Beitang Che who sat in front of him.

”Grandpa, no need to trouble! I can go home by myself!” Xia Qingqian hurriedly shook her head, wanting to return home on her own without needing an escort.

”Let Che take you home.” The old man said, rising to return to his room, ”I need to shower and rest now. Che, remember to get Qian Qian home safely.”

”Alright, Grandpa, rest assured, I will take Qing Qian home.” Beitang Che stood up as well, addressing the old man, ”Good night, Grandpa, have a good dream!”

”Good night, Grandpa!” Xia Qingqian also stood up, ”Thank you, Grandpa!”

”Hehe! Good night, everyone!” The old man chuckled, leaning on his cane, and walked into his room with the help of the butler.

Beitang Che picked up a long brocade box from the table, giving Xia Qingqian a deep smile, ”Qing Qian, let’s go, I’ll take you home.”

”Well, thank you!” Xia Qingqian felt a bit embarrassed, but under Beitang Che’s gaze, she followed him out of the old man’s villa.

”The moonlight is so beautiful!” Xia Qingqian raised her head to look at the crescent moon hanging in the night sky as soon as she stepped out of the villa’s garden, perhaps remembering someone.

Beitang Che turned his head, just catching a fleeting trace of longing in her eyes, but he saw her corners of the mouth turn downward, surrounded instantly by a vast, empty melancholy.

”It is beautiful, but somewhat desolate...” Beitang Che slightly tilted his head up, watching the moonlight in the sky alongside her, ”Since the moonlight is so beautiful, it wouldn’t be good to miss it. How about we walk and admire the moon?”

”Huh?” Xia Qingqian turned her head, giving Beitang Che a puzzled glance.

”I know you’re thinking of Yao, so your mood must be a bit reluctant, suppressed, right?” Beitang Che smiled, ”They say that strolling under the moonlight can dispel the loneliness and worries in our hearts, moonlight is a healing balm for the soul!”

Xia Qingqian chuckled at his words, ”Young Master Che, who told you that?”

Seeing her finally smile, he relaxed too, his heart laughing along with hers: ”It’s what Grandma told us, but unfortunately, Grandma is no longer with us...”

”I’m sorry! I brought up your sad memories!” Xia Qingqian’s face turned pale, hastily apologizing.

”Hehe, it’s alright. In you, I see Grandma’s shadow. You both are the kind of gentle, beautiful women with kind hearts, whose sight anyone would be compelled to draw close at first glance!” Beitang Che’s smile faded, his eyes turned a little distant, as if reminiscing about something.
