I AM the Football Star

Chapter 543: Chapter 148: Italy Eliminated, There Was Never a Lu in This World!

”Wow! Lu Yang is simply unstoppable today! But it would be better if his shooting accuracy could be a little higher!”

”Today, the right side of Vicenza’s penalty area to the middle area could be called Lu Yang’s zone!”

”Too much dribbling and attempting to go past players can affect a player’s shooting touch!”

”Isn’t this the second time Lu Yang has hit the post?”

”In the last match, Lu Yang wasn’t able to score, which is a big deal for him. Many prolific scorers suddenly seem unable to find the net. Lu Yang doesn’t want to become such a player.”

”But at the moment, it seems that the previous divine favor of scoring goals for Lu Yang has vanished!”

The commentator looked at Lu Yang, who was holding his head, not knowing what to say.

Vicenza’s strength is indeed very strong.

But Sotu pushing Lu Yang to the right forward position seems even stronger!

Today’s Lu Yang is unrecognizable in his activity.

Originally, Canyes’ overlapping runs were already enough to cause headaches.

However, today Lu Yang is making the Serie B defenders absolutely frightened.

This sharp breakthrough and dribbling, are you sure this person is known for defense?

It’s simply undefendable!

If Lu Yang continues to play like this, it’s only a matter of time before Vicenza concedes a goal!

Vicenza’s defensive players looked at each other, having already formed a plan in their hearts.

Body up!

Even if it means committing a foul, Lu Yang can’t be allowed to keep breaking through.

On the other side, Lu Yang was really speechless, hitting the post again?

His shooting ability is quite strong in Serie B, but today’s touch is just a bit off.

This does have something to do with his excessive dribbling.

In fact, to many people, playing football means any contact with the ball using the feet, and it shouldn’t make a difference.

But actually... shooting, passing, dribbling, ball control, intercepting, and tackling are all distinctly different techniques, each related yet influencing the other.

Excessive attempts at one action can lead to unfamiliarity with other actions.

These are very subtle differences, but in terms of results, sometimes they make a very obvious difference.

After all, there are dozens of different techniques for shooting alone, ranging in trajectory and position, let alone others?

A player good with the outside of the foot is not necessarily good with the inside or instep.

Players who are good at shooting aren’t necessarily good at stabbing or placements.

This is one reason why many of the world’s top five shooters can’t make a good pass.

Greenwood was stunned, wondering who the heck is being insulted here?

Unsure whether being ranked among the world’s top five shooters was a compliment or being criticized for the poor passing was an insult.

Robben’s cutting inside is indeed invincible.

But even Batigoal was led off by Robben, leaving Lu Yang a bit speechless too.

In the thirty-ninth minute of the first half, Lu Yang firmly believed that his fate was in his own hands, not the heavens’.

Another graceful cut-in and shot.

But what he didn’t expect was that the opposing center-back would timely head it away and bumped him.

If Lu Yang had fallen, it would definitely have been a free kick from a dangerous position.

But Lu Yang’s balance is exceptionally strong, and the influence of Batigoal and Robben’s cuts enhance Lu Yang’s strength, confrontation, and balance, so he managed to stay on his feet.

Their foul action then essentially didn’t happen.

That’s the difference between football and basketball.

The rules of basketball are pure rules, even seen as the law within basketball.

No matter how cunning Harden is, no matter how shameless his flopping shots are, as long as the rules remain unchanged, referees can only let him continue, even aiding it.

However, football is different. Even if you are Mei Luo, if you’re genuinely kicked in the penalty area, the main referee must subjectively judge your intention — whether the yank or collision was enough to bring you down, whether your dribbling’s purpose was to control the football, or if it was to let your foot better cling to the opponent’s, and so on.

Although it increases post-match discussions, misjudgments, and controversial decisions, you have to admit that the essence of such rule-making is to better serve football as a sport and to present high-quality matches to fans.

Rules are always about maintaining the baseline. It’s not that they’re not good, but rather that above the rules, we should have higher standards.

But that’s so hard, which is why humans consider rules as the last resort to keep the world running.

Clang!

Lu Yang’s shot hit the post once again.

Unlike the previous two touches, this time it was due to external interference and confrontation that caused the shot to veer slightly.

But this also means Lu Yang’s shooting feel is almost back.

If it weren’t for the collision, this shot would definitely have been in.

This attack wasn’t over yet.

The ball hit the post, then rebounded off Vicenza’s backtracking center-back, flying high.

The ball is still in the penalty area, the threat isn’t over.

Sogel and others rush into the penalty area to fight for it.

Vicenza’s center-back barely managed to clear the ball.

The Vicenza player receiving the ball had Canyes right beside him.

Lu Yang was also charging over.

To be safe, he kicked the ball out of bounds, giving San Remo a sideline ball in the frontcourt.

Canyes ran over to take the throw-in.

But Lu Yang gestured to Canyes, indicating he’d take it.

Canyes was stunned.

How could you let the boss handle such a small matter?

Did Brother Lu mean for me to go back on defense?
