I AM the Football Star

Chapter 503: Chapter 138: Player Ability Update, Europa League Group Draw

”Manzuyovich’s two goals and one assist couldn’t save the day, and Juventus lost the Italian Super Cup!”

”Giant Killer! San Remo wins at home, defeats Juventus to become treble winners!”

”Juventus head coach: We are still adjusting, our goal is the Champions League title!”

”Juventus’ vice-captain: The players didn’t perform very well, and everyone hasn’t shaken off the summer holiday state. San Remo played very well, they deserve this trophy.”

”Manzuyovich: After the match, I exchanged jerseys with Morici. I respect his decision, and besides football, he has done a lot for Croatia. As far as I know, he has donated more than 500,000 Euros this year to refugees affected by war!”

”MVP of the match, Lu Yang crowned MVP of the Italian Super Cup match!”

”Canyes scores against his former team! With two brilliant assists, is Canyes struggling to let go of his departure?”

”Juventus’ woes! Letting go of their young star Canyes might bring hidden troubles for Juventus!”

”Breaking news! The Italian Super Cup trophy will be ’air-dropped’ to Shanghai Port’s trophy room after the celebration in downtown San Remo!”

”Thanks to Shanghai Port! San Remo head coach Sotu and chairman Russell express gratitude to Shanghai Port Football Club, stating the Italian Super Cup is a part of them!”

”Football secrets! The scrimmage between Shanghai Port and San Remo was the key to San Remo defeating Juventus!”

News after news flashed across the TV screen.

At a large hotpot restaurant, a farewell banquet was being held.

Shanghai Port Football Club was celebrating and farewelling the players and coaching staff of Sanremo Football Club.

Tomorrow, San Remo’s players will return to Italy.

At the banquet, players and coaching staff from both sides toasted and exchanged cups in friendly exchanges.

Tang Yuqin and Luo Cheng also attended the banquet. The unprecedented success of this Italian Super Cup was also partly due to their efforts.

According to online surveys, this match has rekindled millions of fans’ interest and confidence in football and has at least introduced tens of millions of ordinary people who had not previously engaged with football to the sport, sparking interest in both football and the Italian League.

This match’s ability to draw in fans and spread awareness is approximately equivalent to the development level of the football movement in the country over three to five years.

This is the positive impact that hosting a ”top-tier” event has on a local area.

This ”top-tier” is in quotes because the Italian Super Cup isn’t considered a truly top-tier event in European Football.

Compared to the Champions League, Europa League, key matches in the Five Major Leagues, European Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, etc., national super cups are a notch below.

But even so, it’s still the most significant high-level event domestic fans have participated in to date.

At the dining table.

”Hmm?”

Lu Yang looked at the system panel, frowning.

This...

”Ding! You have received the Italian Super Cup champion gift pack!”

”Ding! You opened the gift pack and received Essence Points*3, Basic Points*3, and player skill ’Productive Winger’!”

”Productive Winger: When you’re positioned as a winger, your willingness and ability to cut inside will receive a slight increase!”

This skill also increased Lu Yang’s dribbling from 83 to 84.

Afterwards, Lu Yang quickly allocated his points, with basic points assigned to jumping and essence points to strength.

Jumping 72-78

Strength 80-83

These two skills are advantageous for aerial duels and physical contests.

The foremost requirement for a winger is speed.

But besides that, strength, balance, dribbling, and jumping are also essential, especially jumping and strength. These abilities allow them to maintain ball control even when teammate passes aren’t perfectly towards them.

After all, not every teammate can deliver a through ball or a pass directly at your feet.

Wingers often have to take on the task of pulling wide before receiving wide-range cross-field balls from a teammate.

Such cross-field balls are often high and far, giving opposing defenders plenty of time to reach you and contest the ball.

Therefore, if necessary, having a winger with some aerial dueling ability alongside a central forward upfront is an excellent configuration for any team.

Similarly, a winger’s offensive ability is also related to jumping and strength.

A winger has numerous opportunities to head the ball either from the far post or the near post.

These opportunities, unlike the physical battles inside the penalty area as with central forwards, are often about stealth, not requiring direct confrontation.

But even so, having a stronger leap and physique clearly makes your chances of sneaking a goal more secure.

Moreover, these abilities are also useful for Lu Yang in the midfield. Lu Yang’s hexagonal skills are becoming more complete, with currently only a few minor shortcomings.

However, Lu Yang’s expression of doubt wasn’t due to himself.

Rather, it was because of his teammates.

The system had activated a teammate evaluation function, and Lu Yang had scanned his own teammates last season.

Most of his teammates had the ability level of upper-tier players in secondary leagues.

But today’s scan surprised him.

Because this summer coupled with the Italian Super Cup, the improvements his teammates received exceeded Lu Yang’s expectations.

Bai Zhami 70-73

Fernandez 66-70

Camihong 66-69

Naji 67-69

Matias 68-70

The abilities of these players generally increased by 2 to 3 points.

They have basically reached or approached the level of players in the Five Major Leagues.

Among them, Fernandez showed the most significant improvement, with an increase of 4 points.

This also reflects the growth potential of this player. He is even more outstanding than Bai Zhami, but unfortunately, Bai Zhami’s talent is better, thus earning a higher rating.
