I AM the Football Star

Chapter 531: Chapter 145: Defense Matters, But Defense Isn’t Worth Much

At the start of the second half, the short Kane noticed something was off.

Because that guy opposite him, who was 1.85 meters tall, was actually getting physical with him!

Whether with the ball or without, Lu Yang was always trying to line up against Kane and attempt physical contact.

Kane began intentionally avoiding Lu Yang.

But Morici’s movements were always in Lu Yang’s area, so no matter how hard Kane tried, he couldn’t avoid him.

On the other hand, Lu Yang was feeling a bit sentimental.

This short guy’s ability to withstand physical confrontations was surprisingly strong!

A fellow height forte of humanity.

At 1.74 meters, Lu Yang could easily knock Morici over.

But this 1.68-meter Kane was as firm as a small soy bean, quite a handful!

This familiar process was not a pleasant experience for either side.

Kane and Lu Yang both felt uncomfortable.

Bam!

Another collision, and suddenly Kane turned quickly and changed direction, using Lu Yang as an axis to slip away.

Due to the blind spot created by Lu Yang’s body, Morici wasn’t fully prepared, so when he saw Kane charging at him, he was a step too slow.

Bam!

Kane made a frontal slide tackle, successfully taking the football from Morici’s feet, and quickly got up to advance with the ball.

Morici had made a huge mistake!

Lu Yang retreated swiftly, cutting off Kane’s passing route.

Kane wasn’t particularly frightening with the ball, but his passing was simply terrible.

Boe made a timely insertion in an attempt to receive from Kane, or perhaps to initiate an attack.

But Lu Yang tightly blocked Boe, making Boe experience some of Kane’s joy.

The other Ness players all ran around excitedly, afraid their position wasn’t good enough and that Kane’s pass wouldn’t find them.

To receive a pass from Kane, it was best to have no defenders within ten meters, otherwise Kane was likely to pass directly to the opposing player’s feet.

So Kane, under Morici’s chase and Lu Yang’s blockade, drove the ball all the way into the attacking third, appearing at a position outside the left penalty area of San Remo.

This was a very good crossing opportunity.

Kane’s professional instinct told him he should cross the ball.

His teammates all rushed into the San Remo penalty area, preparing to compete for a header.

Bam!

Kane took a shot.

No one could impede him.

Although he wasn’t a left-footed player, his left foot was not a Celestial Deformed Leg, and the accuracy of an unguarded left-footed cross wasn’t without...

In the penalty area.

Areola kept his eyes on the ball in midair, ready to come out and punch it away at any moment.

A goalkeeper confident in his height, jumping ability, and landing judgment would make such an imposing breakout.

However, the next moment, Areola swiftly moved to the goal line, diving to slap the ball away.

But his face didn’t show excitement; instead, he pursed his lips, looking somewhat speechlessly at the passer Kane.

He was a step late.

He had fished the ball out in midair!

The ball had crossed the goal line by nearly half a meter, an indisputable goal.

Indeed!

The main referee blew the whistle, signaling the goal was valid.

But whether they were Ness fans or on-site commentators, they were all a bit stunned.

The camera focused on the scorer, Kane, the little black guy looked bewildered then a shy smile appeared on his face.

Lu Yang and Morici exchanged glances, both showing an ”Are you kidding me?” expression.

Is this even possible?

This was clearly a cross, can the short guy really mishit it that much?

There’s no one like this!

You shouldn’t be called Kane, you should be called Sane!

A good ten seconds passed before the commentator reacted: ”Wow! Kane scored! It’s a really bizarre goal because, if we’re not mistaken, this was supposed to be a cross.”

”Kane himself looks quite embarrassed, he didn’t celebrate, not knowing whether he should wave his teammates away apologetically, or if they should give him a thumbs up and say good job.”

”San Remo conceded this goal quite unjustly.”

”If we had to say that anyone didn’t do their job, perhaps Lu Yang has some responsibility for choosing to cut off the passing route between Kane and Boe instead of pressing Kane immediately to stop his shot.”

”Of course, laying blame here is quite forced.”

The Ness players then celebrated not too enthusiastically.

No one was bold enough to celebrate a goal like this too much, as everyone had some sense of shame.

And Morici walked over to Lu Yang, his gaze full of doubt: ”Are you sure your method is effective? If this guy scores another one, it’s really going to be hard for us to win this match.”

Lu Yang said speechlessly: ”How much do you think is luck in this goal? I think whatever full score there is, that’s how much luck is in this goal. It’s ridiculous, ridiculous enough to prove my previous judgment, right?”

Morici also found it infuriating, nodding: ”Alright, then from now on, I’ll leave him to you.”

The match resumed.

The leading Ness didn’t confidence offensively.

To be honest.

Kane’s goal left the whole of Ness very awkward.

This kind of mishit goal makes people more inclined to think Ness is a lucky weakling.

They even seemed slightly embarrassed to face the San Remo players’ gazes.

San Remo players: Come on, if you have the guts, shoot, anyway, your shots aren’t more threatening to the goal than your passes!
