I AM the Football Star

Chapter 498: Chapter 136: Lu Winger Arrives, Frontline Commander_4

”Lu Yang is really bold in his breakthroughs, and he actually succeeded!”

”This match is getting exciting, we see Juventus is preparing to make a substitution. The issue of their defensive line lacking cohesion has become apparent, and their right-back has already lost track of his defensive targets multiple times today.”

The San Remo players start celebrating the goal.

Canyes glanced at Juventus’ right-back... that’s his main competitor. The two of them were previously competing for the position of Juventus’ first substitute right-back.

The opponent is clearly more favored by the head coach because his defensive habits are better.

But this match fully demonstrated that in front of talent, all habits are nothing.

If the first half goal from Lu Yang was due to Lu’s strange off-ball movement, blaming Lu for being too flashy,

then this goal was because Bai Zhami shook off the Juventus right-back with sheer speed, appearing calmly at the far post of the penalty area to slot the ball in.

Defense also requires speed.

Juventus overlooked this important issue, and their four consecutive league titles this year may not be very steady.

Because in their lineup, they lost the crucial element of speed.

...

After Lu Yang’s goal, Juventus clearly became very wary of him.

The deterrence power of a breakthrough-oriented winger immediately became apparent.

To defend a breakthrough winger, one must position themselves closer to the goal than he is.

Whereas defending normal players, your position can be level with or slightly higher than theirs.

Don’t underestimate the one or two meters position difference, but there’s a lot of strategy involved.

In the latter two cases, the defender can not only defend the winger but also cut off the passing routes from other players to the winger, theoretically reducing the midfield’s options for an extra player to make plays.

But if it’s a breakthrough forward, the opponent can only defend against your breakthrough and not your connection with the team, hence not hindering the team’s normal function.

This is the different impact Sancho and Greenwood bring to Manchester United’s attack.

It seems like a positional gap, but it actually impacts the entire game, causing a chain reaction.

And who is Brother Lu?

If you all don’t stop Brother Lu from getting the ball, wouldn’t it be a shame not to orchestrate with this field vision rated 99?

Lu Yang holds the ball, and the opposing defenders become nervous, giving Lu Yang time to control and dribble.

Lu Yang dribbles slowly while observing his teammates around him.

Latu Yidi, far back in the defense, catches Lu Yang’s eye.

”Go!”

It’s as if Latu Yidi heard Lu Yang’s voice.

Lu Yang’s gaze clearly urged Latu Yidi to push forward.

Latu Yidi widened his eyes: Brother Lu, but I’m a holding midfielder!

Lu Yang: I know! Go!

Latu Yidi: Okay, got it!

Boom!

Lu Yang nudged the ball with his right foot, once again choosing to dribble past the opponent.

This attracted almost everyone’s attention, so much so that Latu Yidi’s advance went unnoticed.

Because with the forwards surging ahead, the whole team’s shape pressing forward is very normal.

The Juventus holding midfielder has gotten smarter.

This time he didn’t race against Lu Yang but kept retreating in defense to let Lu Yang push forward.

Lu Yang traded the previous breakthrough for this easy push, showcasing the fair side of the football field.

After entering the attacking third, Lu Yang started cycling.

At the same time, Canyes also charged up, choosing to cut inside directly behind Lu Yang.

The holding midfielder wanted to go after Canyes, but Lu Yang’s acceleration during the cycling move was explosive, preparing to take him on the inside, leaving him with no options.

Juventus’ left-back wanted to fill in for Canyes, but Lu Yang had already beaten his own midfielder; he could only cover Lu Yang.

The Juventus left-center back had to step out to cover for Canyes.

Sogel directly inserted into the gap left by the center back’s departure.

Juventus’ right center back followed Sogel.

Morici noticed Canyes’ positioning, recalling the player’s layout from the last glance at the backfield in his mind.

Based on his calculations, if Latu Yidi, who was always at the left holding midfielder position, kept moving forward, there would be a perfect space for a long shot on the left side of the penalty area.

”Flank!” Morici loudly instructed Bai Zhami.

Bai Zhami decisively moved to the flank without the ball, and even if the Juventus right-back didn’t follow, he wouldn’t dare stay too far away from Bai Zhami, pulled out of the penalty area.

After Morici shouted, he directly moved toward the right side of the box.

The Juventus right holding midfielder, marking Morici, followed him.

The moment these movements just formed.

Lu Yang, beating the Juventus left holding midfielder, made a right-footed curved cross while approaching the byline.

Morici was quite some distance from the ball.

However, Canyes was right on the path.

After Canyes received the ball.

”Over here!”

Morici called out loudly on Canyes’ left side.

Canyes glanced over, and his pupils dilated.

He understood Morici’s intention.

Boom!

Canyes made an overhead pass.

The Juventus right holding midfielder, marking Morici, was dumbfounded... This ball wasn’t passed to Morici?

Isn’t that too disrespectful to your own core?

But the next moment, he heard the angry roar from their own goalkeeper, ”Man down, man down!”

As soon as the words finished.

Boom!

The ball flew past the left side of the Juventus right holding midfielder like a beam of white light.

The Juventus substitute goalkeeper, although he saw the ball,

a long shot... is really hard to save.

Especially those who shoot from distance with the outside of the foot.

The ball trajectory is unpredictable, and saving depends entirely on guessing.

A second later, the ball was weaving in the net.

The scene with a crowd of eighty thousand Chinese fans instantly erupted.

”GOAL! It’s in!”

”Latu Yidi! Latu Yidi has blossomed, a long shot to reverse Juventus!”

”San Remo leads three to two!”

”A world-class strike, this is a super world-class goal!”

”Latu Yidi’s advance was simply a stroke of genius! This San Remo goal was brilliantly executed!”

”It’s a perfect goal! There was a breakthrough, coordination, the entire team moving for a non-attacking player’s run, and the holding midfielder didn’t disappoint everyone’s expectations!”

”Canyes’ pass was very beautiful, he’s already got two assists! Against his old club, Canyes delivered a heavy blow, fully proving his worth! Now, Juventus fans are probably feeling uncomfortable.”

”Perhaps the only comforting news for Juventus is that they have a sell-on clause and first refusal rights for Canyes’ next transfer.”

”Of course, we absolutely cannot ignore the true hero behind the recent two goals, Lu Yang! He perfectly orchestrated the two goals, functioning as a front-line commander-in-chief!”
