I AM the Football Star

Chapter 286: Chapter 94: Defenders of the Italian Cup!

Just five minutes later, Lu Yang made Becher’s feel the warmth of teamwork.

Lu Yang held the ball in the center, signaling with his eyes for Becher’s to cut inside without the ball.

Becher’s was slightly puzzled because once he cut inside, although he would relieve Sogel of some pressure in the penalty area, there was no doubt that Lu Yang’s pressure would increase.

As a result, the situation became three of the opponent’s center-backs responsible for both Sogel and Becher’s.

Lu Yang was then double-teamed by one of the opponent’s midfielders and a right-back.

It seemed as though the opponent was about to close the gap and complete a successful defense.

Suddenly, Lu Yang stepped forward with his left foot, bypassing both players.

The ball bounced from Lu Yang’s right foot to the left, then to the front, cleverly passing through between the two players with Lu Yang’s feet.

The opposing defenders were stunned.

Fried Meatballs?

Could Lu Yang still perform such a refined skill?

The key was that Lu Yang executed this move seamlessly, almost naturally finding the only path between the two players.

After bypassing the two, Lu Yang saw an open field ahead of him.

He lifted his foot.

In Vercelli’s penalty area, there was a sense of panic.

The center-backs were almost in tears.

Especially the center-back who came forward, unable to hold back his tears.

”I’m not moving, can’t you not hit me?”

”I really want to live for another five hundred years!”

Blocking Lu Yang’s long shot was a tactic Vercelli had practiced many times.

The head coach specifically emphasized that someone should step up.

But those in the back must not give Lu Yang the space to shoot, they needed to help block.

However, they must pay special attention to keeping their hands behind their backs.

They must be careful not to be called for handball.

Being like a volleyball player was not acceptable, hands behind the back was required.

Bang!

Lu Yang petulantly flicked his foot, sending a slightly curved half-high ball into the penalty area.

The height of this ball was roughly around the waist of the players.

The players who had prepared to block were unable to raise their legs that high.

Stooping and heading would be too low for the ball.

Only by reaching out could they block the path of this pass.

But Vercelli’s center-backs restrained their urge to play volleyball.

After all, they were professional defenders, not attacking players like Perisic who dared to swat away the ball with his hand in the World Cup final, showing a killer instinct.

Bang!

Without the opponents pulling or holding him back, Becher’s had relative freedom in the penalty area.

He tilted his body to the side and lifted his left foot high, forcefully shooting this half-high pass directly into the opposing team’s goal.

This was an extremely difficult shot.

It fully showcased Becher’s flexibility.

At the same time, it was a pass that left people helpless.

The choice of height was simply perfect!

”GOAL! Two to zero! San Remo is playing too easily today!”

”Becher’s did not waste Lu Yang’s brilliant pass! His shooting technique, ranking in the top three in the Italian Third Division, is indeed impressive!”

”Today is a day worth celebrating for Becher’s. Not only did he provide an assist, he also scored a goal. Don’t be fooled by Becher’s total of sixteen goals this season, his last goal was before the winter break.”

”In other words, he has gone through a five-game goalless streak! This is his longest goalless streak in the Italian Third Division.”

”Lu Yang bears no grudge, and Becher’s has fully integrated into the team. Who can stop this San Remo team?”

”My goodness! Another important update! In the match between Allez and Tulis which also started this round, Tulis surprisingly took a one-zero lead!”

”If the match ends with the current scores, then San Remo will overtake Allez and rise to the top of the Italian Third Division!”

”This is absolutely thrilling news!”

”In the first half of the season, after twenty-two matches, San Remo had only three draws and two losses, collecting fifty-seven points! They almost created a miracle!”

”However, Allez had sixty points at the halfway point, leading San Remo to become the midseason champion! They are frighteningly strong too, far exceeding the level of the Italian Third Division.”

”Barring any surprises, the two direct promotion spots in the Italian Third Division this season will definitely be San Remo and Allez’s.”

”But the surprising part is that San Remo might overtake Allez in round twenty-seven and climb to the top of the standings!”

”Championship! With adjustments in their stride, San Remo has launched a challenge for the Italian Third Division title!”

”Sotu once said that San Remo has strength and potential far beyond everyone’s expectations. And what he could bring to San Remo isn’t much. In his own words, he believes the most important thing he brought to San Remo is... a championship pedigree!”

”We can clearly feel this!”

”San Remo longs for all championship glory!”

”They are turning the miracle of newly promoted teams into reality. They might consecutively clinch the Italian D Division and Italian Third Division titles, aggressively promoting to Serie B!”

The commentator got the entire audience fired up.

Although this might not be witnessing a historic moment, it was very likely to be a moment witnessing the birth of the season’s champion.

The forty-second minute of the match.

Becher’s cut inside to the right and passed back to Lu Yang in the rib area.

Lu Yang made a one-two with Becher’s.

In that brief gap, Becher’s successfully bypassed the opponent’s defensive midfielder; he could continue pushing forward, or choose to pass to Sogel instead.

Bang!

The opponent’s defensive midfielder knew they couldn’t let Becher’s continue forward, so they pulled him down, voluntarily applying for a yellow card.

A distance of about twenty-six meters, slightly off to the right of the center around the edge of the penalty area.

This was definitely within Lu Yang’s Elevator Ball threat range.

But Lu Yang did not immediately indicate his intention to take the shot.
