I AM the Football Star

Chapter 284: Chapter 93: Here Come the Fried Meatballs!

”Versachi has four assists, Bai Zhami has five, Sogel and Fernandez have six. If you don’t come back soon, they might surpass you. A team core ranked sixth in assists... tsk tsk tsk, I’m embarrassed for you! With these stats, it’s hard for Mr. Russell to justify giving you a salary raise!”

Another jab at Morici.

He vividly remembers the dog who promised him no one would steal his crown as the assist king.

And now?

Lu Yang already has thirteen assists.

Morici really finds it hard to catch up.

Playing shamelessly down the gutter, huh?

Hurry back to the defensive midfield, don’t embarrass the attacking midfielders. If it weren’t for Latu Yidi’s prowess, your interception and tackle stats would become the first in the team again, why are you playing as an attacking midfielder?

Perhaps spurred by Lu Yang.

The next day Morici appeared on the team’s training field.

He began solo training, being very careful about the training volume and intensity, which was in stark contrast to Bai Zhami and Fernandez during the winter break.

High dual intelligence, shown perfectly in these areas.

High dual intelligence doesn’t just mean you understand; it includes controlling your impatience and suppressing your excitement or depression.

Morici was regaining his form at his own pace, but he was at least a week away from being match-ready.

But once the ”San Remo Brain” was on the scene, the style of team training noticeably shifted.

With Sotu’s approval, Morici practically took on the role of assistant coach, continuously issuing instructions during the team’s training matches.

”Lu Yang? Do you really think you’re Izalelt? Just now you should have passed back to Versachi, Versachi could then pass directly to Becher’s, and Becher’s either a reverse triangle or a cross could create a killing opportunity. Why did you choose to keep dribbling? Couldn’t you see such an obvious chance?”

Honestly, after Morici spoke, the players he pointed out were all dumbfounded.

Is this... so obvious?

Who can see the danger after three or four passes?

To be fair, most players can see the danger at the moment it appears.

Just like fans can, when watching a goal replay, see that before the goal, the scoring player gets into position and then receives a critical through-ball from a teammate.

But before that?

With the level of play rising, theoretically, all players have the ability to see such opportunities if they are careful. Any opening you can see, the opponent can see too.

So the way to create better opportunities is to look one step ahead.

That means the pass made by the assister before the scorer moved, or why the assister received the ball.

The one who passed to the assister is the real starting point of the offense; if the scorer and the assister see one move ahead, then the starter saw two moves.

Similarly, some offensive cores can look three moves, four moves ahead.

This is the difference between top-tier cores and average players when it comes to seeing ”opportunities.”

Many goals generated through repeated linking by a player are not just flashes of brilliance but are sometimes premeditated.

Such advanced opportunities can easily break through the opponent’s defense once successful.

And if they fail, most people won’t realize that this seemingly insignificant pass was so threatening.

This is the greatest distinction between Morici and the other players of San Remo.

People think he’s just the core, but really, he’s an enforcer, no, a strategist.

Who can he hit with that frail 174 cm frame?

It must be mentioned that Go really should become one of the projects every team core learns about in the future; it greatly hones prediction and calculation abilities.

And this is the biggest difference between a normal midfield core and a top-tier core.

”Move! What’s important is to move!” Morici shouted from the sidelines, ”Unless there’s a special opportunity or the team tactics are stuck, I don’t want to see anyone over-dribbling, unless you’ve got more than a 50% chance of scoring after beating a defender!”

”I’ll say it again, pass more! Versachi, you have the ability to become an offensive midfielder; you can’t fully consider yourself a defensive expert. You can’t match Latu Yidi’s defensive dominance, you need to show your capabilities in attack.”

”All-Purpose Midfielder doesn’t mean you run to every midfield position; it means you should possess defensive, organizing, and attacking abilities!”

”Fernandez, reduce your sprinting; you’re not Bai Zhami, your sprints aren’t that lethal, and they increase your risk of re-injury. You’re a winger, but you can view yourself as a wing-half!”

”Lu Yang, Becher’s, when Sogel pulls out, one of you must enter the box to create a threat, understand? The threat within the box is always the biggest; even if we don’t attack inside the box, someone has to draw attention there.”

”Camihong, get up there! Fernandez and Latu Yidi will guard your position well; you need to assist Fernandez in pressing the opponent’s flank, or he’ll help you create plenty of opportunities to deliver crosses, where you can fully showcase your crossing ability.”
