I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 433: Chapter 259: Second Profession

If you close your eyes, you might not even feel a person sitting on the ground, but rather an incredibly sharp sword!

Aaliyah scratched her head.

Although she was perplexed by Gauss’s current state, seeing him unharmed, she felt completely relieved.

”Buzz!”

”Buzz!”

At that moment.

The energy from Gauss seemed to have reached a certain peak.

The energy overflowed.

Rachel protected the three people silently behind her like a solid wall.

Then she looked at Gauss with an unbelievable expression.

It’s not that Gauss’s energy was particularly terrifying.

In fact, she barely felt any threat from it; the disparity in their strength was too great.

However, the energy on Gauss was clearly beyond the level typically possessed when just starting to condense a Profession Tier.

And it exceeded by so much that she once thought he was a sword cultivator of Level 3 or 4.

But she knew very well that Gauss was not; he was someone who hadn’t even fully condensed his sword profession yet.

She couldn’t help but become curious, wondering what Gauss would become once everything was over?

The air around Gauss vibrated in circles.

Countless tiny specks of dust were repelled by an invisible force.

As time passed, Rachel’s astonishment grew more intense.

She even sensed from Gauss a force that threatened the essence of the soul.

So, she instructed Aaliyah and the others to step back a little.

She herself, however, was unaffected.

Because the soul and the body are not separate entities, a strong body and soul functioning as one can withstand this level of dissipation.

Gauss was in an internal storm.

He felt like he was in a chaotic space composed of countless fragments of will and memory images, but if he tried to look closely at the contents on the fragments, it would seem vague and blurry as if through a fog.

Just some insights about ”sword” were circulating rapidly.

”What is a sword?”

”A tool of slaughter?”

”A force of protection?”

”An extension of skill?”

...

In the multitude of chaotic thoughts, a fundamental notion suddenly exploded like a thunderbolt, illuminating his sea of consciousness.

”A sword is will!”

Gauss ”saw” it!

A flash of sword light emerged deep within his soul.

”Clang!!!”

The experiences of Basic Swordsmanship and White Falcon Sword Skill were all dismantled, refined, and then merged into a fully condensed aggregate of will within his body.

A small, slender, yet beautifully radiant pure light saber finally gathered beside the Magic Cup!

A sound, non-existent in the material world, yet resonated throughout his soul—a clear sword cry, burst forth, like the first cicada song of midsummer, opening the prelude.

The unique heart sword had been forged.

An invisible ripple suddenly spread throughout the training room.

But this time, it was no longer an energy oscillation, but rather a kind of ”declaration of existence,” with a revealing edge.

The heart sword was announcing its arrival to them, to this world.

Aaliyah and her companions involuntarily stepped back again.

And after the ripple swept through, all the overflowing aura and energy around Gauss were quickly absorbed back into his body, not a single drop remaining.

He still sat cross-legged with closed eyes, his form unchanged.

But upon careful examination, it seemed different.

Both the contradictory qualities of ”completeness” and ”sharpness” appeared in him simultaneously.

Gauss opened his eyes.

Rachel met his gaze.

Unexpectedly, there wasn’t an overly sharp feeling, but rather a clarity and extreme lucidity.

Like taking a soul-level bath.

Beautiful eyes, like jewels.

Even though Rachel had no interest in the jewelry that ordinary women favored, facing such a pair of eyes, she couldn’t help but express her admiration.

Gauss was silent for a moment as his mind slowly awakened from the recent chaos.

He seemed to have seen many inexplicable memory fragments, but as he awoke, they all vanished, like waking from a dream.

”How does it feel?” Rachel asked with concern.

Aaliyah and the others stepped forward again.

”Very good, successfully condensed the second profession.” Gauss nodded, showing a satisfied expression.

At this moment, his panel updated the information again.

”Current Profession: Magic Envoy Level 4, Sword Soul Level 2”

Yes!

His sword profession, at the instant of condensing, directly surged to Level 2!

And he felt in terms of combat power, it might be far beyond Level 2.

Moreover.

”Strength +1”

”Constitution +1”

The new sword profession increased his attributes by 2 points.

Strength: 11→12

Agility: 9

Constitution: 10→11

Intelligence: 14

Perception: 10 (9)

Charm: 10 (9)

However....after formally condensing the Profession Tier, Gauss could clearly feel that the second profession couldn’t provide attribute points as stably as the main profession.

This might be a boost only given at the moment of condensing the Profession Tier.

This is a problem of secondary professions, similar for other rare dual-class Professionals.

It’s like a marginal effect; you need to spend more time to reap a small portion of the benefits.

If you devote this energy to your main profession, you might make more progress.

Of course, theoretically speaking, in the most perfect scenario, dual-class Professionals have the highest ceiling.

Because in Gauss’s perception, essentially, the secondary profession doesn’t affect the maximum potential of the main profession.

This means that for two Professionals who have both pushed their main professions to an exceptional level, having a secondary profession might result in another potential of equal level waiting to be realized.
