I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 405: Chapter 248_2

”The old relics have a keen eye for talent. Seeing you prodigies, they can’t help but feel tempted, thinking of collecting you into the family lineage like treasured collectibles.”

”You are not the first talented person to receive an invitation.”

”Did others agree?” Gauss was somewhat curious.

”A few agreed, but among the majority remaining, not all refused because they couldn’t accept the added conditions. Some simply wanted to combine their strength with an even more powerful family, and of course, there are also those who don’t want to be constrained.”

”After all, every gift has long been marked with a price in secret.”

Gauss nodded upon hearing this.

It seemed just like the routine business of casting a wide net to collect more fish.

”Alright, the trivial matters are over, let’s rest for a while and later start the sword skills lesson.”

”I’m not hungry; you can help me finish these.”

Adelle noticed Gauss had been eating throughout, and all the snacks on his plate were gone.

She naturally pushed the plate of exquisite snacks in front of her, which she had barely touched, over to him.

”Thank you very much.”

Gauss expressed his gratitude and continued to enjoy them.

Adelle watched his bold and generous eating manner, not feeling it was impolite, but rather approving it.

She was from a noble family but didn’t fuss over etiquette too much.

Instead, she disliked those who were overly pretentious, awkwardly polite, and stilted in her presence.

True strong individuals have enough self-confidence.

Although Gauss was only at level 4, in her eyes, he already possessed the qualities of such a strong individual.

His core was stable.

He neither overestimated himself nor underestimated himself; he simply followed the intent of his true heart.

Such a person, as long as they don’t die, is destined for success.

Thinking of this, she slightly raised the corners of her mouth.

Feeling a mischievous thought.

Perhaps many years later, the family elders will regret not coming personally and not wagering higher stakes, and maybe they’ll be deeply remorseful.

Moments later, Gauss finished eating, and his energy was restored.

His energy storage glands evolved into a special stomach, and the upgraded level made them more effective than before.

At first, the snacks on the table certainly wouldn’t have been enough, but after evolution, the efficiency of food decomposition became higher.

Of course, his appetite was still larger than ordinary people, because while absorbing more sufficiently, the energy he needed to consume was also continually increasing.

He only hoped to maintain a good balance between the two, to avoid becoming a bottomless pit.

Adelle propped her chin, watching Gauss put down the cutlery and stand up.

”No need to rest a bit after eating?”

”It’s already digested.” Gauss shook his head.

”Then, shall we begin?” Adelle raised an eyebrow, but since Gauss said so, she didn’t delay any further.

Stepping onto the smooth ground, she walked to the place where the two had fought just now.

”The first lesson of the White Falcon Swordsmanship.”

”Perceive and guide your internal ’breath’.”

”Isn’t it about sword techniques or those vibrating skills?”

Adelle smiled and shook her head.

”Sword techniques, those are trivial superficialities.”

”Of course, your swordsmanship foundation is very solid, that’s excellent.”

In the battle just now, Gauss intentionally demonstrated his basic swordsmanship skills.

Which fascinated her.

Even Gauss, being merely a caster, far surpassed many professional swordsmen in this fundamental aspect.

But beyond the foundation, lies something much deeper.

”Breath, some people call it Qi. Without its support, even the most skillful sword techniques are like rootless trees, devoid of substance.”

She pointed her fingers like a sword, gently tapping her soft armor several times.

”The core of the White Falcon Swordsmanship, and indeed most swordsmanship techniques, lies in breath, or the inner rhythm guiding internal energy flow.”

”Some warriors call it ’Combat Qi,’ ’Rage,’ while some swordsmen name it ’Sword Qi,’ but in essence, it cannot escape the guidance of breath within the profession tier.”

”It is the embodiment of life energy, willpower, and physical strength.”

”In fact, some casters also learn related skills; whether a melee profession or not, a more coordinated body is needed.”

”Especially for you.”

Adelle blinked.

During the previous battle, although Gauss might have held back, his overall combat techniques and methods were entirely presented before her.

She certainly wouldn’t regard Gauss as a typical caster.

”Your body, that dragon bloodline power within, possesses immense potential, enough to form a majestic Qi.”

”Learning a profession-level swordsmanship technique is indeed the correct thought, as your previous means of utilizing it seemed like driving an untrained wild horse, relying solely on instinct and brute force.”

”Once you master this skill, perhaps new possibilities can be opened.”

A hint of expectation flashed in her eyes.

Evidently, she knew why Gauss was learning swordsmanship.

She was equally curious.

She wondered what direction Gauss could be guided toward.

After a brief moment of distraction, she signaled Gauss to come to the center of the field, to stand face-to-face.

She took out a yellowed scroll and placed it in Gauss’s palm.

”Close your eyes, clear all distractions, and feel the energy waves on the scroll.”

”Relax your body, carefully feel its pulse in your blood and heartbeat, you need to see your own ’breath’, then adjust it.”

Following her instructions, Gauss closed his eyes and immersed his mind within his body.

Soon, he felt an extremely subtle coolness seep out from the coarse-textured parchment.
