Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 1137: Chapter 815: Kael’s Turmoil (Part 2)

”What’s there to be embarrassed about?” Professor Viktor said carelessly, ”Traditional alchemists look down on these things, believing it to be a tool for laziness and opportunism. At the same time, they also disdain those who need instruments to aid their alchemy process.”

”Exactly, that’s why I said it’s rare. Those who have the ability to make it wouldn’t use it,” Kael shrugged.

”But isn’t it very convenient?” Conna still didn’t quite understand.

”Let me put it another way.” Kael thought for a moment, ”This kind of thing is equivalent to... uh, an Automatic Stirring Cauldron. Does that make it easier to understand?”

”Oh, got it.” Conna said immediately.

Stirring the potion and adjusting the heat are essential steps in brewing Magic Potions, or perhaps the most important steps... After all, who can’t just toss ingredients into a cauldron?

And the emergence of the Automatic Stirring Cauldron conveniently saves these two steps, turning potion brewing into a simple ”cauldron-tossing” game.

The inventor of this cauldron, Gaspard Shingleto, simplified the potion-making steps, and thus appeared on Chocolate Frog Cards and textbooks, becoming a well-known figure in the Wizarding World.

However, those who truly love Magic Potions, or have made any progress in this subject, look down on such things.

This is because the Automatic Stirring Cauldron can only brew a few commonly known ordinary potions, and the products are somewhat mediocre, barely qualifying.

If that furnace in front of us serves the same purpose, Kael’s point becomes clear.

”You can’t say that, there’s a difference between alchemy and potion-making.”

Professor Viktor glanced at the brass furnace. ”The prerequisite for learning alchemy is the mastery of Ancient Runes.”

”It’s a vast and complex linguistic system. By the time students have almost mastered it, they’ve basically graduated. If that’s the case, what’s the point in offering this course?”

”But what if students become reliant?” Kael said, ”Placing items into the furnace is far easier than painstakingly studying Ancient Runes.”

”By fifth grade, they’ll find that graduation exams don’t allow the use of a Transformation Furnace,” Professor Viktor said.

”Then that’s fine.” Kael nodded.

For students, especially the younger ones, a little aid is still necessary — at least it can familiarize them with the process early on and lay the foundations for learning alchemy later.

”Anything else you want to ask?”

”I actually do.” Kael didn’t hold back, ”If you have the time...”

”There’s no Alchemy Class today,” Professor Viktor said.

Kael’s eyes brightened.

Over the next few hours, Kael stayed here, asking a lot of questions.

From choosing basic textbooks, to the difficulty level of knowledge points, to specific assessment standards... Some questions went beyond the scope of alchemy, but Professor Viktor answered them all.

He even pulled out part of the student textbooks, highlighting key points from third-year to seventh-year books.

Thus, the two discussed from afternoon until evening.

Conna, even though she couldn’t get a word in edgewise, was surrounded by novel curiosities and accompanied by Gabrielle, so she didn’t feel bored.

As the sky outside grew darker and night fell, several Magic Lamps lit up automatically, illuminating the classroom like daylight.

Gabrielle sat there feeling bored, then touched her belly.

Conna, being here for the first time, naturally didn’t feel bored, but it was different for Gabrielle, she had long grown tired of everything here. It was fine initially, but as time went on, her boredom increased.

More importantly, she was hungry.

Seeing that the two still showed no signs of stopping, Gabrielle could only walk over and take the initiative to say:

”Professor, Kael, should we go eat first...”

”Eat?” Professor Viktor raised his head, looking outside. ”Is it that late already?”

”You just realized...” the young girl mocked inwardly.

”Alright then.” Kael also rubbed his eyes, ”I didn’t think so earlier, but now I’m a bit hungry too. I just wonder what the food at Beauxbatons is like.”

”I think you won’t need to worry about that, this is France after all,” Professor Viktor chuckled.

”Come with me, I suspect Olympe’s already got everything ready.”

The group left the classroom, and as Professor Viktor waved his hand, an elevator immediately appeared before them, carrying them back to the first floor.

Like Hogwarts, the Beauxbatons dining hall is also in the auditorium, but it’s larger, and the tables aren’t the classic convenient long rectangular ones, but individual round tables adorned with gorgeous tablecloths and neatly arranged tableware, with even candles lit on each table.

Numerous well-dressed waiters shuttled between tables, creating a full sense of ceremony.

”Ah, Olympe is already waiting for us.” Viktor looked around and headed straight towards the front of the auditorium, ”Follow me.”

Ms.Maxime was sitting at a massive round table, and Viktor arranged for the two to sit on her left.

The crowd buzzed with whispered discussions, all wondering who these two suddenly appeared strangers were, to have kept the headmistress waiting for ten minutes.

Only the student named Jafar looked pale; he never imagined that the person he had earlier mocked was the headmistress’s guest, and judging by the dinner’s setup, they were indeed distinguished guests.
