Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 1136: Chapter 815: Kael’s Uncertainty

Kael couldn’t figure out why the professor from Beauxbatons would ask their student about homework upon first meeting a guest...

It’s just a normal piece of homework, is it that important?

Alright, even if some professors might value it highly, surely, with guests present—especially guests from afar—such matters should be put aside for a moment.

Even if it’s just for show, they should at least greet the guest, right? In this regard, the Beauxbatons professor was somewhat impolite.

More importantly, Kael had never experienced such an awkward scene.

His toes were gripping the soles of his shoes tightly.

At the thought of his earlier, chaotic replies, Kael felt his face flush, especially with Gabrielle and Conna trying hard not to laugh; he almost felt like turning around and leaving.

At that moment, he truly wished to use a Time Turner to go back a minute and cover his own mouth... or Conna’s mouth, who had told him the truth.

”Don’t just stand at the door, didn’t you say to Miss Delacour that you wanted to visit the Alchemy Classroom?”

Thankfully, Professor Viktor spoke up, breaking the awkward atmosphere, and this time he spoke in very standard English.

Viktor turned and pushed open the door to the Alchemy Classroom. ”Come in.”

Kael immediately walked inside with his head down, and Conna followed behind.

She was surprised to find that the white smoke visible from outside magically disappeared once inside the room; the classroom was not only clean but also devoid of any smell.

Seemingly recognizing her thought.

”With a few tricks, you can more intuitively see how students’ achievements are.” Professor Viktor explained.

He turned his gaze to Kael and asked, ”You’re from Hogwarts, aren’t you?”

”Sort of.” Kael said, ”But I’ve graduated.”

”So, you’re the Champion who won the Triwizard Cup?” Viktor asked, but his tone was affirmative.

”Hmm, you know me?”

”No, but I’ve heard of the Triwizard Tournament, such a grand event, and combined with your age and Miss Delacour’s attitude, it’s easy to guess your identity... From what I understand, she doesn’t know many British people.”

”He saved me.” Gabrielle said, grinning.

”I heard about it, the rampant Dark Wizards at the Quidditch World Cup.” Professor Viktor said lightly.

Perhaps his personality was inherently so, seeming indifferent to everything.

He looked at Kael again, ”This place generally doesn’t allow guests, even if you’re a Hogwarts student.”

”Then, why did you change your mind?” Kael asked.

Viktor did not answer directly but instead asked again, ”Have you read ’Jade Record’?”

”Of course not.” Kael shook his head, ”Honestly, whether such legendary items still exist is unknown, so how could I have seen it.”

”Then how do you know the origin of those texts above the classroom?”

”I saw someone’s manuscript that happened to include this phrase with its origin marked.” Kael said, ”I couldn’t understand it at first, but after studying Ancient Runes, I got it.”

”Nicolas?”

”Yes.” Kael nodded and didn’t deny it.

”I see.” Viktor nodded and muttered softly, ”It seems Olympe didn’t lie to me. She told me before that Nicolas was favoring a Hogwarts student highly, I thought she was joking.”

”It’s all because of Professor Dumbledore.” Kael said, ”It was he who took me there, and...”

”No, it doesn’t have much to do with Albus.” Viktor waved his hand, interrupting Kael, ”Very few people can endure the plodding learning of ancient primitive runes; you’re the third I’ve seen.”

”Who were the first two?” Kael asked instinctively.

Viktor didn’t answer, merely patting the large brass furnace beside him, ”Do you know what this is?”

”Is this a test?” Kael looked up.

”If you want to see it that way... yes.” Professor Viktor said directly: ”This classroom does not welcome those uninterested in Alchemy, regardless of who they are, or their status.

”Studying primitive runes might be for Charms, but if you know this, it proves you have thoroughly learned Alchemy.”

”What if I say I don’t know it?”

”Then I would have to invite you to view elsewhere.” Viktor said.

Conna immediately looked at Kael nervously.

”Alright, I do know it.” Kael didn’t ask further, shrugged, and said, ”Material Transformation Furnace, honestly, this thing isn’t commonly seen.”

”What did you say, not commonly seen?” This time it was Gabrielle’s turn to be surprised.

From the beginning of her Alchemy studies until now, she’s always used this furnace, she thought every alchemist had one at home.

Unexpectedly, Kael actually said this thing wasn’t common, and even Professor Viktor acknowledged it... Could it be some remarkable treasure?

Gabrielle thought to herself.

”What exactly is this?” Conna asked.

Among the few people present, she was the least knowledgeable about Alchemy.

”Material Transformation Furnace.” Kael said again: ”It can replace the process of carving Magic Text, change the form and structure of matter, simplify the alchemical process, and improve efficiency, but...”

Kael instinctively glanced at Gabrielle and Professor Viktor and didn’t continue.
