Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 1119: Chapter 809: Luna’s Intuition_2

”Can’t you tell us in advance?”

”You’ve got to leave a little mystery.” Kael blinked. ”Alright, go have lunch, there’s black pepper fried pork cutlet today.”

”Well, alright then...” Seamus wasn’t very satisfied with that answer, but out of respect for the Headmaster, he left anyway.

”Honestly, I want to know too. How exactly is this standard being set?” After they left, Professor McGonagall looked at Kael. ”At first I thought it was based on how many points they scored, but if you think about it, that would give the Seeker way too big an advantage. It’s not fair to the other players.”

”Then just do what Seamus said—have a vote.” Kael said carelessly.

”But then students who are more popular will have the advantage.” Professor McGonagall said. ”And voting has far too many variables. We could easily end up with someone who barely contributed to the match getting the most votes.

”This is Hogwarts’ very first Quidditch gold medal, and very likely the last. I think we still ought to judge strictly by skill and not consider any other factor.”

”That’s what I think too.” Kael said.

”So what’s your idea?”

”My idea?” Kael kept walking forward. ”I don’t have one.”

Professor McGonagall’s steps faltered. ”You mean you didn’t think about anything at all when you made that proposal?”

”Nope.” Kael nodded as if it was only natural. ”Didn’t I say yesterday? It was a spur-of-the-moment thing, I suddenly came up with the idea. In that short a time, how could I possibly have thought everything through?”

”What happens afterwards then?” Professor McGonagall’s voice shot up several notches. ”Two hundred points is fine, but when the match is over, what standard are we using to award the gold medal?”

”That’s not my problem.” Kael spread his hands. ”I’m just filling in for a bit, muddling through for a while is good enough. It’s not like I’m going to be standing in for a whole school year.

”Dumbledore will definitely be back by then. Let him worry about it.”

Professor McGonagall felt her temples start to throb.

She’d always assumed Kael was just talking yesterday, that he didn’t really mean it. She hadn’t expected that he truly hadn’t thought about anything at all before making that decision.

Dumbledore was just as bad—vanished without a word and dumped this whole mess of school business onto her.

She’d thought Kael might at least help out a bit once he came, but he was even worse: the first thing he did was make a massive mess of things...

These two, one after another—why are they both like this.

Professor McGonagall couldn’t help rubbing her forehead. Doing the work of three people for one paycheck—never mind professors, even a Ghost shouldn’t be squeezed like this.

Looking at Kael in front of her, her many years as a professor almost wasn’t enough to hold back the anger in her heart.

She wanted to hit someone.

And right now Kael was wearing Dumbledore’s face—if she swung, it would be like punching two people at once. Total profit.

More importantly, Kael’s status wasn’t the same as Dumbledore’s, which made him much easier to hit.

This had nothing to do with strength.

Kael was her student, and Kael’s parents had been her students too. Even if she really did smack him, Kael wouldn’t hit back.

It was just like Professor Marchbank scolding Dumbledore: even if he was the Headmaster, the greatest White Wizard in the Magic Realm, he could only stand there obediently—and hand over a cup of tea.

This really was a rare opportunity. Should she...

”Professor McGonagall, Headmaster Dumbledore...”

A voice suddenly came from behind her, snapping her back to herself.

”Miss Granger.” Professor McGonagall said. ”What are you doing here?”

”On my way to lunch.” Hermione said. ”Sorry, Professor, but I wanted to know how you’re getting on with that thing I asked you about before.”

”I have no objections. You can give me the paper anytime.” Professor McGonagall said. ”But Miss Granger, I must remind you that Today’s Transfiguration Technique has its own criteria for judging quality. My opinion can only serve as a reference.

”And their publication cycle is very long. You can only be eligible for the ’Most Promising Newcomer’ award while you’re still a student, but you’re already in seventh year.”

”That’s alright, I just want to give it a try.” Hermione said. ”As long as it gets accepted, I’ll be perfectly happy. If I don’t get ’Most Promising Newcomer’—well, that would be a pity, but it can’t be helped. I didn’t have enough knowledge accumulated last year anyway.”

”It’s only a possibility, not a certainty.” Professor McGonagall said. ”Term has only just begun—if everything goes smoothly, it should still be fine.”

”Her—Miss Granger, you’re submitting to Today’s Transfiguration Technique?” Kael asked from the side.

”Yes, Headmaster.” Hermione said. ”Everyone says it’s the most authoritative Transfiguration Technique journal. I want to give it a try.”

”Just having that idea already puts you ahead of most students. Whether it works out or not, it’ll still help you in the future.”

”That’s what I think as well.” Professor McGonagall said.

”Alright, come with me.” she said to Hermione. ”I’ve got a few books that should be helpful to you.”

With that, she turned and led Hermione toward her office, and at the same time said to Kael, ”Keep an eye on the time.”

Kael answered briefly.

He knew Professor McGonagall meant the timing of the Polyjuice Potion—he mustn’t change back in front of everyone, or that would be mortifying.

Of course Kael wouldn’t forget something like that.

Once Professor McGonagall left with Hermione, he headed alone toward the Auditorium.

Since he was going to show his face, it had to be somewhere crowded—and right now it was lunchtime, so nowhere had more people than the Auditorium.
