Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 772: Chapter 693: The Half-Giant and the Death Eaters

Even for Giants, their neck is the most vulnerable part. Plus, the Centaur was already unconscious, so Kael’s charm slipped through almost effortlessly.

Newt watched all this and let out a silent sigh.

He had wanted to stop Kael just now. After all, there are only so many Giants—lose one, and that’s one less. He had hoped to persuade him again, and, before passing out, the Centaur had seemed to admit defeat, so he probably would have given up on this attack and turned back.

But now, it seems there’s no point saying any of that.

”This is still the safest way.”

Kael seemed to notice Newt’s thoughts. He shrugged and said, ”Hagrid mentioned before that this Giant, the Centaur, is naturally violent, and has a close relationship with the Death Eaters. If we let him go this time, no one can guarantee he won’t cause more trouble later.”

”Plus, after this incident, You-Know-Who will probably pay even more attention to the Giants. By then, it’ll be much harder to deal with things.”

”I know,” Newt said.

Of course he understood Kael was right... This was indeed the most reliable approach; the only reason he wanted to stop Kael earlier was simply out of old habit.

After living a peaceful life for so long—and with age catching up—it’s only natural to become more sentimental, and less clear-eyed than the young.

”Do as you see fit,” Newt patted Kael’s shoulder.

As they talked, the dense fog around them started to clear away.

A few Giants nearby quickly spotted something round on the ground...

And when they saw what it was, they immediately let out terrified roars... It was the head of their Gringott.

The yelling grew louder and louder—the Giants, having lost Gringott, were thrown into chaos.

Especially after seeing the path of fire on the ground, they were suddenly gripped by panic, as if sensing some deadly threat within it.

Instinctively, some Giants began to run back, wanting to return to their most familiar place.

And as soon as the first Giant started, the second came next... then the third...

Soon, the Giants began rushing back en masse.

”Come back... you idiots!”

”If all of you attack together, these few aren’t a match at all! Hurry up and come back!”

Two Wizards wearing black hoods shouted furiously, but their voices didn’t even make the Giants pause for a second.

”There’s actually two Death Eaters...” Newt instinctively moved in front of Kael.

”Ah, long time no see, Mr. Scamander.”

One Death Eater turned around, speaking in a sticky, oily voice: ”So, you’re trying to oppose the great Dark Lord?”

”Always have,” Newt replied calmly.

”You’ve ruined the Dark Lord’s plan...” the other Death Eater raised his wand, ”Someone must pay the price for this. If we can’t bring back the Giants, taking that kid does just as well.”

”Clearly, our opinions don’t match,” Newt’s voice was still tranquil.

”You think you can stop both of us?” the other Death Eater stepped forward, ”The great Magizoologist, Newt Scamander... If we manage to kill you, maybe the Dark Lord will forgive us this time.”

Kill Newt?

Kael couldn’t help but lean forward, eager to see which Death Eaters had come this time, so confident...

He figured they were probably the batch of Death Eaters who broke out earlier... Spending so much time around Dementors must have scrambled their brains.

Although most news about Newt focused on Fantastic Beasts, and he never had dazzling battle records, that didn’t mean he was a pushover.

After all, those Fantastic Beasts were anything but tame before being packed into his suitcase.

Any Wizard with half a brain wouldn’t think Newt was some soft target that could be squeezed at will.

But Newt himself didn’t seem to mind being underestimated; he just held his wand, watching the two Death Eaters calmly.

”Mr. Scamander...”

At that moment, an even larger figure blocked their front.

Maxime looked at the Death Eaters and said, ”I couldn’t help out earlier, so this time, let us handle it.”

”Yeah, Olympe’s right,” Hagrid quickly rushed to their side, saying, ”Leave it to us.”

At least Maxime cast the Mist Spell earlier, but Hagrid really hadn’t helped at all.

Since he couldn’t Apparate, he had to run down from the mountain top, and by the time he arrived, the fog was long gone—he couldn’t even find a chance to help out.

”Alright then...” Seeing the two arrive, Newt put away his wand, while Maxime and Hagrid exchanged a look and immediately sorted out their opponents, charging left and right.

Newt seemed to trust them completely, with no intention to assist. He only smiled at Kael and asked, ”So, how did fighting Giants feel?”

”Pretty awful,” Kael admitted, ”My usual charms barely scratch them. Even the Basilisk’s gaze didn’t work.”

”That’s exactly right,” Newt continued, ”Maybe this serves as a reminder—the Basilisk’s gaze can kill a Wizard instantly, but it’s not always reliable. You shouldn’t depend on it too much.”

”Just like this time, with the Giants...” Newt glanced at the unconscious Centaur lying on the ground.
