Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 718: Chapter 674: Umbridge Fired? (2)

Harry looked up and glanced across the auditorium, ”Remember, we’ve been seeing Slytherins heading to Umbridge’s office recently. I guess those two are her handiwork... This morning during practice, Angelina said their performance was pretty lousy.”

”That nasty guy,” Ron muttered a curse under his breath, ”I wish the headmaster could expel her.”

”Even though everyone thinks so, it’s unlikely,” Hermione said softly, ”Even though Umbridge is no longer the Senior Investigator, she still represents the Ministry of Magic; the headmaster can’t expel her.”

The three of them sighed simultaneously.

...

But none of them expected that Ron’s seemingly impossible remark would come true the very next day during the Hogsmeade visit.

”Umbridge has been fired?”

In the Three Broomsticks, Professor McGonagall, while chatting and drinking with Hagrid, heard the exclamation nearby and instinctively turned to look.

”Not so loud, Potter, this hasn’t been confirmed yet.”

”Sorry, Professor,” Harry said, ”But is it true? Is Umbridge really going to be fired?”

If it were someone else, Professor McGonagall would definitely tell Harry to add ”Professor” after the name, but this time she said nothing.

”Not fired,” Professor McGonagall corrected, ”It seems the Ministry of Magic has more important work for Professor Umbridge, so she probably won’t have time to stay at school anymore.”

Listening to Professor McGonagall’s words, Harry felt a huge surprise descend from the sky, as if they had won the Quidditch championship trophy ahead.

No, even more thrilling.

Harry’s heart raced, and he didn’t bother buying any Butter Beer, he rushed out of the Three Broomsticks without looking back.

He now only wanted to share the good news with Hermione and Ron immediately.

Meanwhile, in the Defence Against the Dark Arts office, Umbridge was raging at Kael?

”Is it you who did this!” Her face was ominously dark, as if water could drip from it, and she couldn’t even muster her habitual fake smile.

”It must be you, a despicable little man, said something to the Minister, causing him to let me leave Hogwarts!” ℴ

Being called a despicable little man by Umbridge was indeed a novel feeling.

Watching the raging Umbridge, as if wanting to strangle him, Kael calmly said, ”Don’t be so agitated, Professor Umbridge, this is indeed a good thing.”

”What?” Umbridge screamed, ”Are you trying to say that me being fired is a good thing?”

The angrier she got, the more she roared, ”Because of you, I lost the position of Senior Investigator, and now because of you, I can’t even continue as Defence Against the Dark Arts professor, is this a good thing?”

During her speech, Umbridge above was more direct and pulled out her wand, pointing at Kael and demanding, ”Why are you always against me!”

Kael had expected this to happen before he came here, and moved his hand hidden in the robe sleeve slightly.

The next second, Umbridge’s wand flew out of her hand, spinning and landing in Kael’s hand.

”I told you, Professor Umbridge, don’t be so tense,” Kael patiently said, ”This really is a good thing. Besides, you aren’t being fired, but going to do something more important.”

The ready-to-explode Umbridge felt toyed with after hearing Kael’s words and roared angrily:

”You’re lying; I haven’t received any notification.”

”This matter is still confidential, of course, you won’t receive notification,” Kael said, ”In fact, there won’t be any written notification at all. When you return to the Ministry of Magic, Minister Fudge will tell you himself.”

”Are you not lying?” she asked in a deep voice.

”You are about to leave Hogwarts, do I need to lie?” Kael shrugged, ”Forget it, seems like you don’t want to know, just regard me as meddling.”

Kael casually tossed the wand aside on a table and turned to leave.

”Wait...” Umbridge didn’t even bother with the wand and immediately trotted to block Kael, ”Explain yourself clearly.”

”Professor,” Kael said flatly, ”If I tell you these things, the Minister will be angry.”

”Then just now...”

”Just now is just now, now I don’t want to talk,” Kael glanced at her, ”I kindly remind you, and you’re treating me like this.”

Umbridge’s expression kept changing.

”Sorry, I was blinded by anger,” she squeezed out the usual fake smile again, ”Can you talk now?”

That’s more like it; Umbridge was indeed normal with her usual fake manners.

”Alright,” Kael cleared his throat, ”Professor, you’re about to get lucky.”

”Get lucky?”

”That’s right,” Kael walked to a chair and sat down, ”Do you know what troubles Minister Fudge the most right now?”

”Dumbledore?” Umbridge said.

”No. Under the current situation, Dumbledore won’t have the chance to compete for Minister of Magic in the short term, and the attitudes of other professors don’t really matter, so you staying at Hogwarts isn’t useful anymore.”

Kael shook his head, and before Umbridge could ask, he proactively said, ”It’s the Death Eaters; after breaking out of jail, they’ve hidden and remained inactive, and the Ministry of Magic’s previous statements in the newspapers have become jokes.

”Now many people doubt that You-Know-Who hasn’t really resurrected, sending a lot of Howlers to the Minister.”

”This is outrageous...” Umbridge said furiously, ”How can they doubt the Ministry of Magic.”

That statement is interesting... Only said not to doubt the Ministry of Magic, but didn’t emphasize that the information the Ministry has announced is true as before, indicates that she herself doesn’t believe it.

”Exactly,” Kael did not expose, continued saying, ”But nothing can be done; it’s been a week since things happened, and the Ministry of Magic has yet to take meaningful action; it’s inevitable people will doubt.

”So, this time, they need us to help; the Minister needs us to show some appearance, like more than a decade ago, indicating the Ministry of Magic is at odds with the Death Eaters.”

”What does this have to do with me?” Umbridge asked with a frown.

”Haven’t you figured it out?” Kael impatiently tapped the table, ”Without information on the Death Eaters, we can’t do anything.”

No wonder Umbridge can rise all the way to deputy minister; she instantly understood Kael’s meaning.

”Got it, huh.” Kael smiled, ”This matter requires utmost secrecy; the Minister can’t give it to Beaters or Aurors, they’re not loyal enough. The ones who can take on this responsibility...”

Kael stretched out his fingers, ”Only you, Professor Umbridge... no, it should be Minister Umbridge.”

”It’s Deputy Minister.” Umbridge’s lip twitched slightly, her voice somewhat drifting.

”Same thing.” Kael waved his hand, ”After this, you’ll be seen as a hero... an anti-Dark Magic hero. This is enormous prestige, enough to surpass all Ministers.

”Now you understand why I said this is a good thing?”

”Then why are you giving it to me?” Umbridge took a deep breath, ”You can do it yourself.”

”Don’t be ridiculous, I’m still a student.” Kael helplessly shook his head, ”Dumbledore won’t allow me to leave school, so I can’t do this.”

Indeed, Kael is still a student, and he has more than a year until graduation, which means most of the time he has to stay at school.

Upon realizing this, Umbridge’s breathing became heavier, and her smile on her face finally was not so fake.

”Anything else?” she asked.

”That’s all I know.” Kael said, ”As for specifics, it depends on how the Minister arranges, he hasn’t told me.”

”That’s correct.” Umbridge said with her head held high, ”Such secret operations, fewer people know the better.”

”I kindly remind you,” Kael looked at her, solemnly said, ”During this process, you represent the Minister and the Ministry of Magic, hence must show an uncompromising stance against the Death Eaters, the firmer the better.

”If you don’t know how to act, refer to Mr. Barty Crouch, Sr., or even Alastor Moody, they both have good views on Death Eaters.”

”I know what to do.” Umbridge said discontentedly, ”You better understand your position, even though the Minister trusts and confides in you, you are still just an intern minister’s assistant, don’t tell me how to do things.”

”Naturally.” Kael smiled, stood up and said, ”Then I’ll wait in Hogwarts, looking forward to the good news that Minister Umbridge brings.”

Perhaps out of oversight, even when Kael left the Defence Against the Dark Arts office, Umbridge did not correct Kael’s address.
