Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 705: Chapter 670: Dementor in the Headmaster’s Office

Sure, here’s the translation:

”This was really unexpected.”

After the last class of the morning ended, everyone enthusiastically discussed the contents of the class in the corridor.

”It’s the first time I’ve learned that a simple body modification spell has so many precautions.”

”Yes indeed, that assistant, Tonks, is truly remarkable. I dare say by the end of the class, I could change my appearance.”

”Stop bragging, you only managed to make your head bigger by a circle...”

The group chatted and laughed as they walked towards the auditorium; it was clear they were all very interested in the new Defense Against the Dark Arts class.

Unfortunately, such a class was only held twice a week; for the rest of the time, they still had to face Umbridge.

In the auditorium, some people were already early and eagerly asked as soon as they saw them, ”How’s the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor? Hopefully not just more reading.”

”No, of course not.” The sixth-year students promptly and excitedly recounted their classroom experience, drawing more and more people around them.

”Changing our appearance...” Ron said thoughtfully, ”Harry, if we mastered this trick, couldn’t we really give Malfoy a good thrashing, as long as we change into Crabbe and Goyle...”

Harry’s eyes immediately shone brightly.

Being able to beat up Malfoy without exposing their identity had been his long-felt wish.

”Stop dreaming.” Hermione glanced at the two and said lightly, ”This special class is probably only for sixth-year students and above; we’ll have to wait until next year to learn it... assuming Assistant Tonks is still at Hogwarts then.”

”Why?” Ron asked a bit discontentedly, ”Do students below sixth-year not need to hide their identities? Can’t we always stay at school?”

”Did you not hear what they just said?” Hermione turned impatiently, ”Let me remind you, the prerequisite for changing appearance is to learn body transformation, which is advanced transfiguration magic, and is not taught before fifth-year.”

”But we are fifth-year students,” Harry said, ”and we happen to be learning body transformation right now.”

He pulled out his homework and opened the part on Transfiguration Class, saying, ”See, even our homework explains the development of body transformation through different periods.”

”Of course I know that,” Hermione said, ”but have you mastered it?”

At her prompting, Harry fell silent.

Had he mastered it?

The answer was, of course, no.

The level he was at could at most ensure he wouldn’t be scolded by Professor McGonagall, and as for Ron... his level was even worse. Last Transfiguration Class, he lost two points for failing to meet Professor McGonagall’s requirements.

”See, that’s the key,” Hermione said, ”Changing appearance and bone structure is much more complex than transforming arms into branches. Even if she’s willing to teach, would you be able to learn?”

Ron opened his mouth but found himself unable to refute, and finally mumbled softly, ”It’s frustrating. Why is Defense Against the Dark Arts related to Transfiguration?”

No one answered him; Hermione acted as if she hadn’t heard and continued speaking, ”That’s why, before we’ve mastered body transformation, such classes only appear for sixth and seventh years.”

”What about us...” Harry asked anxiously, ”Don’t say we’ll let Umbridge teach us; I’ve really had enough.”

”Don’t know,” Hermione shook her head, ”Maybe there’s other content.”

She glanced down at her new schedule, ”We’ll have Tonks’s Defense Against the Dark Arts class on Wednesday. We should know by then.”

After lunch, they left the auditorium.

Meanwhile, Kael was also called to the Headmaster’s Office.

He looked at the Dementor floating in the office, clad in a tattered black cloak, and asked curiously, ”Professor, have you decided to change pets? If that’s the case, let me take care of Fawkes.”

”Besides Azkaban, the Ministry of Magic does not permit Dementors to appear elsewhere or be privately kept.”

Snape replied calmly, ”Moreover, taking care of Fawkes isn’t too complicated; I can do it myself.”

”So this is...” Kael pointed at the Dementor inquiringly.

”Do you remember what I told you the other day?” Dumbledore said, ”We need to find out whether the Dementors have allied with Voldemort.”

”Ah, that’s correct,” Kael remembered as well, ”But didn’t Fudge say Dementors were unwilling to leave Azkaban? They came to Hogwarts alone that afternoon.”

”Have Dementors changed their minds?”

”Maybe others have changed theirs,” Dumbledore stood up and approached the Dementor, ”It’s quite a coincidence, just when I expressed my intention to visit Azkaban myself, the Ministry of Magic sent it over.”

”That’s indeed quite a coincidence,” Kael said, observing around the office and noticing there was no one else aside from himself and Dumbledore.

”Did it come by itself?”

”Certainly not,” Dumbledore shook his head, ”The Beater responsible for delivering it got food poisoning and has gone to the Hospital Wing; Madam Pomfrey should be able to heal them in two hours.”

”I’m also planning to visit the Hospital Wing now, so I’ll leave this place to you. Is that okay?”

”No problem, Professor,” Kael nodded and agreed.
