Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 715: Chapter 673: Anti-Death Eater Frontline_2

”That’s exactly right.” Kael nodded in agreement and said, ”So, what does the Minister mean...?”

”I recall you seem to have a good relationship with Mr. Scamander, don’t you?” Fudge said, ”As a famous Magizoologist, if he’s willing to help, perhaps he could change many people’s minds.”

”I understand. I’ll try to persuade Newt.” Kael said.

”That would be wonderful.” Fudge smiled, ”Alright, get yourself acquainted with the place, I have some matters to attend to.”

He put on his hat and prepared to leave.

”Wait a moment, Minister.” Kael called out to him and said, ”I have a somewhat immature idea, but it might be of some use.”

”Oh? What idea?” Fudge stopped to ask.

Kael glanced at the closed door and lowered his voice:

”I believe some people don’t trust our words because everything outside is too calm right now.”

”Calm?”

”Exactly.” Kael continued, ”Ever since the Death Eaters broke out of prison, there’s been no further news, as if they’ve all gone into hiding. This doesn’t match their behavior from over a decade ago, so it’s normal that people don’t believe it.

”After all, in most people’s impressions, the Death Eaters, with You-Know-Who backing them, were extremely arrogant.”

”But they really have gone into hiding.” Fudge sighed, ”Neither the Beaters nor the Aurors have found any trace of the Death Eaters.”

”But what if we discover something...” Kael’s tone lifted slightly, ”The Ministry of Magic handles so many incidents every day, is it possible that one of them is caused by Antonin Dolohov.”

Fudge looked up, instantly understanding Kael’s meaning.

Whether the Death Eaters appear or not doesn’t matter, the Ministry of Magic deals with so many illegal activities and wizards every day, they could easily pick an incident with serious consequences and pin it on them.

As for what counts as serious... Fudge recalled hearing Weasley and Perkins discussing this morning that someone cast a Transfiguration Charm in a Muggle garden to prank them.

Isn’t this an attack on Muggle Street?

Fudge was a bit tempted, but now there were two problems... He frowned and said, ”But what if we can’t capture anyone.”

”Isn’t that quite normal? It’s never easy to capture Death Eaters.” Kael said, ”As long as it’s confirmed to be their doing, it would be enough to make many people wary.”

Fudge’s eyes lit up. He took off his hat again, pacing while asking, ”Then do you think it would be better to investigate the Death Eaters using a Beater or Auror...”

”Neither will do.”

Kael said, ”To deal with cunning Death Eaters, you’ll need someone meticulous, unafraid of danger, and absolutely loyal to the Ministry of Magic. Furthermore, this person must hold a high enough position, like a Minister or Deputy Minister... Such an investigation would be more convincing.”

Fudge repeated Kael’s words to himself, searching for a suitable candidate.

Meticulous thought wasn’t the priority, loyalty was...

This ruled out all the Ministers. Fudge knew they wouldn’t help with such dubious matters.

Even if they were willing, Fudge himself wouldn’t trust it.

But who else? Initially, Kael, who proposed the idea, seemed the best candidate, but he still had classes and no time.

Suddenly, Fudge thought of someone who perfectly matched all the conditions.

”What do you think of Dolores?”

”Professor Umbridge?” Kael pondered for a moment, ”I think she is somewhat underutilized at Hogwarts; the anti-Death Eater front line would be the perfect stage to showcase her talents.”

”The anti-Death Eater front line?” Fudge savored Kael’s words, feeling a stir of excitement.

”Ah, I knew bringing you into the Ministry of Magic was the best decision I’ve made this year.” Fudge laughed, ”I didn’t expect you to come up with a way to expose the Death Eaters’ conspiracy on your first day.”

”I only offered a minor suggestion, Minister.” Kael shook his head, ”The person who carries out this work is the real hero against the Death Eaters.”

”You’re right.” Fudge’s face cleared of worry, and he left the office with a smile.

...

To be honest, the visit of Hogwarts students to the Ministry of Magic this time was just a formality to familiarize themselves with the environment; they weren’t expected to accomplish any real work.

But even so, by the time the workday ended, everyone’s faces showed a desire for more.

Unlike at school, everything in the Ministry of Magic felt so novel to them that even if they didn’t actually do anything, they could boast about it afterward.

Only Cedric, Mr. Digory genuinely trusted his son, and to prove his abilities to others, Cedric was busy all day long.

”I wrote five reports, using nearly a roll of parchment.”

By the afternoon, as he rubbed his slightly sore wrist, he grumbled, ”I never realized the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures had so many tedious tasks, adding wings to pythons, disguising Cornwall Pixies as Leprechauns to sell... Are these people really that bored?”

”This is their real work content.” Kael said, ”You don’t think dangerous creatures run into the streets every day, do you?”

”I know that.” Cedric scratched his head.

”What about Mr. Digory?” Kael asked, ”Didn’t he help you?”
