Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 710: Chapter 671: Dumbledore’s Counterattack, Kael’s New Job (3)

He had already thought of the position, just like Mr. Weasley, in the Department of Prohibition of Misuse of Muggle Items.

As a Senior Ministerial Assistant, recruiting two people for such small tasks was too easy.

And Cedric... he also seemed to be smiling happily, so let him join too. Mr. Digory would probably be very willing to work with his son.

Strangely, Fred and George felt a chill run through them, but they didn’t pay much attention to it, assuming it was just a cold wind blowing in from outside, and continued laughing heartily.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the hallway.

Harry, Hermione, and Ron saw the notice too.

Ron looked at Kael, who was surrounded by everyone, and pouted, ”This isn’t fair. Speaking of providing clues... Harry, your contribution was way more significant than Kael’s, wasn’t it?

You’ve been insisting on the news of You-Know-Who’s return all this time. Why does the Ministry of Magic only reward him?”

”Don’t say that.” Harry shook his head. ”Kael did save me, so it’s only right that the Ministry rewards him.”

Ron didn’t seem to have heard, and muttered under his breath: ”Another Percy... only a fool like him would want to work for the Ministry of Magic.”

”The monthly salary for a Senior Ministerial Assistant is one hundred and fifty Galleons.” Hermione suddenly said.

”How much?” Ron immediately widened his eyes.

”One hundred and fifty Galleons, about the same as a Deputy Minister.” Hermione flipped through the newspaper in her hands, ”This is today’s Daily Prophet, there are more details in it.”

Ron snatched the newspaper, and his expression changed dramatically as he read it.

He couldn’t imagine how delightful life would be if he could earn a hundred and fifty Galleons a month.

”Harry, do you think if we write to the Ministry of Magic now, it’s still in time?”

”I’m afraid it’s too late.” Harry shrugged; he still had plenty of Galleons in his vault, so he wasn’t overly concerned with the Ministry’s salary.

”But you can give it a try; maybe there’s a chance. Didn’t the announcement say they welcome every student?”

”Never mind.” Ron struggled for a moment before shaking his head: ”I wouldn’t want to work with Percy; it would drive me crazy. Besides, the Ministry of Magic has slandered you before. I dare say not many at school want to join them...”

With that, he was about to return the newspaper to Hermione, but when he turned around, he saw Hermione staring intently at the notice.

”Wait.” Ron asked in surprise: ”Hermione, you’re not thinking of applying, are you...”

”Yes, I want to work for the Ministry of Magic.” Hermione said firmly.

”Why?” Ron was puzzled, ”Not long ago, the Ministry of Magic thought we were crazy and refused to acknowledge You-Know-Who’s return. Why would you side with them!”

”That’s all in the past, isn’t it?” Hermione said, ”At least now, we’re on the same side.”

”What about Umbridge?” Ron said, ”She’s also from the Ministry of Magic.”

”Umbridge doesn’t represent the entire Ministry. Mr. Weasley and Tonks also work there, and they’re great.” Hermione said, ”Moreover, there are many unreasonable things in the Magic Realm now, such as the attitude of wizards towards house-elves... only by entering the Ministry of Magic can these things possibly change.”

”House-elves?” Ron couldn’t help but interrupt her, ”I thought you gave up on that save the elves plan!”

”It’s called the Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare.” Hermione corrected, ”And I’ve only temporarily set it aside, not given up.”

”You know it’s impossible.” Ron said, ”House-elves like to work.”

”But that doesn’t mean they like being bossed around rudely, like the house-elves in the kitchen, just a simple thank you can make them happy for days.”

Hermione continued: ”Kael was right, my approach was wrong. I should advocate for people to treat house-elves kindly, just like how Harry treats Dobby.

”But that’s equally challenging; people won’t seriously listen to a student. Only by entering the Ministry of Magic do I have a chance.”

”I support you.” Harry said with a smile, ”You are the top student in the year; the Ministry of Magic has no reason to turn you away. Maybe you could become a Senior Ministerial Assistant like Kael.”

”Thank you.” Hermione said, ”But I would prefer to work in the Law Enforcement Department.”

”I want to be an Auror.” Harry said, ”But my grades may not be good enough.”

Ron looked at his two friends, blinking somewhat bewilderedly; he didn’t understand why, after being slandered by Fudge and Umbridge for so long, Harry also wanted to join the Ministry of Magic.

He felt like he had become the only outsider.

”Alright.” He shrugged, ”Since you both say so, I might as well join too.”
