Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 598: Chapter 596: If You Want to Use Rules as a Weapon, So Can I

Kael looked at Amelia Bones, as she was the primary interrogator present, not the overly enthusiastic Umbridge.

”I don’t oppose Mr. Malfoy’s suggestion, but the prerequisite is that I must receive a formal interrogation letter first.”

Kael said word by word, ”The Priori Incantatem spell is already my bottom line, considered as an account from the Hogwarts students to the Ministry of Magic. But after this, I will not accept any form of questioning unless you issue a formal letter, or present new evidence.

”As for now, I demand an immediate end to this absurd and ridiculous interrogation.”

”Let’s put it to a vote,” Amelia said in a loud voice, ”Those in favor of dismissing the accusation, please raise your hand.”

After she spoke, she was the first to raise her hand.

To be honest, she had never agreed with this interrogation, but there was no way around it because Fudge was the Minister, and Umbridge was there adding fuel to the fire.

Then, including Scrimgeour, more people raised their hands.

Just like Amelia, Scrimgeour also thought this interrogation was a waste of time.

Kael’s whereabouts were too simple—school, home, nowhere else. He really couldn’t imagine how Kael could possibly have avoided everyone to kill an adult wizard.

There were so many raised hands, it was clear without counting that they exceeded half, but Amelia still continued:

”Those in favor of the accusation, please raise your hand.”

Umbridge immediately raised her hand, as did another five or six people. Kael glanced over these individuals, memorizing their appearances.

Oh, the three Malfoys also raised their hands... too bad they don’t have the voting rights.

”Very well,” Amelia Bones said, ”The accusation is dismissed!”

”A wise choice,” Professor McGonagall said with a smile.

”Don’t celebrate too soon.”

Umbridge looked at Kael with an iron face, ”You wanted an interrogation letter, didn’t you? You’ll receive it soon. I hope you can still be this confident when you come back to the Ministry of Magic in seven days.”

”I think you’ve got it wrong. Everything should be done in order, Mrs. Umbridge.”

Kael said with a smile, ”Before that, you need to explain your behavior to the Wizengamot, where they will determine the reliability of your testimony.”

Then, Kael put away his smile, and said earnestly, ”Lady Amelia Bones, regarding today’s interrogation, I officially submit a ruling application to the Wizengamot as a recipient of the Second-Class Merlin Knight Order.

”Including the authenticity of the testimony, and Mrs. Dolores Jane Umbridge’s improper questioning of me.”

”On behalf of the Wizengamot, I accept your application,” Lady Bones nodded solemnly, ”Moreover, you will need to draft a written application and submit it to the Wizengamot.”

”No problem,” Kael said.

Seeing Kael mention only one name, everyone else breathed a sigh of relief, except Umbridge, who seemed flustered.

”You can’t agree, Amelia,” she said, pale-faced, ”You must see this is retaliation, and I’m the Senior Deputy Minister of Magic. He has no right to interrogate me!”

”In fact, he does,” Lady Bones said indifferently, ”As an honorary member of the Wizengamot, when evidence is questionable, he has the right to file a ruling application.

”Also, I warned you before this interrogation started, this behavior is entirely against the regulations, and if wrong, the consequences would be severe.

”I thought the incident with Sirius Black would make you more cautious, but clearly, that’s not the case now.”

Having said that, she got up and left the room.

Everyone else left their seats, a few members of the Wizengamot approached Kael, first apologizing, then offering to help.

But Kael politely declined them with a smile.

Before leaving the room, Kael glanced at Umbridge once more.

She was sitting there, muttering ”I’m the Senior Deputy Minister” over and over.

Indeed, Kael was exacting revenge, but what could she do? Just using the regulations against someone is something anyone can do.

After leaving here, Kael, along with Professor McGonagall and Chris, headed towards the elevator.

Kael noticed Professor McGonagall’s mouth twitch slightly, as if she wanted to smile but held back.

”Professor McGonagall, are you heading back now?” Chris asked.

”No, I have to inform Dumbledore about what happened just now,” Professor McGonagall said, ”This kind of thing cannot happen a second time.”

”When will Mr. Potter’s matter be resolved?”

”Soon, probably.”

”Why don’t you have a seat at my desk first?”

”No need, I’ll just wait here to avoid missing anything.”

As they spoke, the elevator arrived.

As the iron doors opened, Dumbledore emerged, accompanied by Harry and Mr. Weasley.

”Oh, Minerva, Kael,” Dumbledore said as he approached, ”Great, are your matters resolved too?”

Seeing him, Professor McGonagall’s face darkened again, ”Come with me, Albus, I have something to tell you.”

Then the two of them moved to another corridor.

”Kael, I heard from Professor Dumbledore that you received a warning letter?” Harry came over and asked, ”What happened exactly?”

He seemed in a good mood, probably meaning his own accusation was similarly resolved.

Kael thought for a moment, then said, ”It’s nothing, just like you, using a charm outside of school without permission.”

He didn’t choose to tell Harry the truth, not to deliberately hide it from him, but Harry was honestly a bit... well, let’s call him genuine. He couldn’t hide anything whether on his face or in his heart.

Moreover, Harry knew the true situation, and given that this was the Ministry of Magic, it would be troublesome if a word were inadvertently slipped.

Before long, Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall returned, and Dumbledore’s expression became extremely grim.

”Leave this matter to me, Kael,” he said, ”If they don’t want to let it go, I will engage them.”

”Professor,” Kael responded calmly, ”Actually, I can handle it myself. It’s not too complicated.”

Dumbledore paused, looked at Kael, seemed to think of something, then said thoughtfully, ”You’re still a student, Kael. Some matters are best left to adults.”

”Alright then,” Kael shrugged, indifferent.

He could tell that Dumbledore didn’t want him to get too involved in this matter.

But is that possible?

Kael wasn’t just going to let it go.

What if they come up with something even more disturbing next... like bringing a Dark Wizard to Ottery St Catchpole?

Given their behavior, it wasn’t impossible, with Harry as the best example.

Kael didn’t want to spend all his time and energy dealing with such issues. The Wizengamot was just the first step, merely preventing them from causing him trouble in the short term, but it didn’t mean the matter was resolved.

Then there’s Voldemort, who is also a big problem.

To say Karkaroff and Malfoy weren’t instigated by someone behind the scenes, Kael certainly wouldn’t believe it. Otherwise, given their characteristics, it was unlikely they’d do something like today.

This was most likely a directive from Voldemort, and Kael was simply a target, inadvertently experiencing something Harry once did.

As for the reason, it was merely because of Nagini.

As one of the Soul Artifacts, Voldemort likely valued that snake and would naturally try to retrieve it.

But Dumbledore had said that Voldemort was heavily injured then, just like his hand, needing time to recover, not healing quickly. He spent the previous month recuperating.

With Kael returning to Hogwarts soon, he was likely getting restless.

After all, once Kael returned to Hogwarts, it would be even harder to seize that snake, unless Voldemort decided to lead an attack on the school.

With two years before he graduates, Kael would find it unbearable if Voldemort continued such actions.

In the absence of directly eliminating Voldemort, resolving this issue would have to start from the Ministry of Magic.

Kael stroked his chin.

And it was time to study the snake in the box.

Ever since he took Nagini, the snake had been tossed into a box and ignored. He didn’t even know if Nicolas’s potion worked on living beings.

Kael remembered the snake seemed to be a wizard, but due to some special reason, it turned into a snake... It seemed to be the curse of a Maledictus.

So if possible, Kael didn’t want to kill Nagini outright.

Kael thought inwardly.

Beside him, Dumbledore seemed to sense something, gave Kael a deep look, and reminded him again, ”Remember, Kael, you’re still a student.”

”Of course, Professor,” Kael snapped back, saying, ”I’ve always been aware.”
