Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 569: Chapter 567: Exams

As June arrived, the atmosphere in the castle became tense and exciting again due to the upcoming final event of the Triwizard Tournament and the approaching holiday.

For most students, due to the Christmas ball, they hadn’t left the castle for a year.

That’s why their anticipation for the holiday this year surpassed any other time.

Kael had received a whole heap of books again, and this time, even Cedric, Cho, and Conna joined in.

They wrote a long list of potentially useful Charms on Parchment and handed it over to Kael.

”The Four-Point Spell will definitely be useful, I guarantee it.”

Cedric said, ”It makes the Wand always point North, and the Quidditch Pitch is just to the North. This means that as long as you follow the Wand, you’re sure to find the place with the trophy.”

”Are you sure the direction in the maze will certainly be correct?”

Cho retorted, ”Don’t forget the scenes the Champions experienced in the first task, which were completely different from what we saw.”

”But at least it provides some reference, doesn’t it?” Cedric said, ”Knowing the direction is better than knowing nothing at all.”

”You’re right.” Cho glanced at him, ”But if a Four-Point Spell could find the right path, then this task would be too simple, and I don’t think Professor Dumbledore overlooked such an obvious issue.

”So a Reductor Curse is more important. Just blow up the hedges to avoid the maze’s influence and keep moving forward.”

”I don’t think a single Reductor Curse can destroy the hedges that make up the maze.” Cedric murmured quietly.

This wasn’t the first time they argued about which Charm was more useful, and each had ample reasons, as if they were in a competition—whomever Kael agreed with would win,

And the winner would usually be smug for a whole day, before continuing the competition the next day, enjoying it endlessly.

Kael, in order to get some peace, could only choose both.

After all, it’s just a matter of a word, given that he had practically seen all the Charms they recommended.

Conna was different; she offered Magic Potions.

Bafe Awakening Potion, Awakening Potion, various antidotes, healing, stamina-enhancing potions, and the dangerous Corrosive Potion, as well as the Fireproof Potion used by Snape when protecting the Philosopher’s Stone—she sent them all to Kael bottle by bottle.

In the end, she even brought over a shimmering bottle of Felix Felici... but Kael refused.

Partly for fear of being hunted down by Snape. Given Conna’s current abilities, she clearly wasn’t capable of brewing Felix Felici, so the origin of the potion was quite apparent.

Receiving those ordinary potions was fine; even if Snape found out, he’d only sulk a bit and might deduct some points.

But Felix Felici was different—even Snape couldn’t easily brew it, making it almost like having a ”For Conna Only” label.

If Kael took it, Dumbledore might not even be able to protect him.

Besides, Kael already had a bottle of Conna’s Felix Felici in his trunk.

It was a Christmas gift Snape gave her back in her first year, but Conna often lost things. Kael suggested he help keep it safe.

When he later wanted to return it, Conna outright refused and claimed it was a gift for Kael... but Snape likely didn’t know about this.

Another reason is, for such an important event like the Triwizard Tournament, Felix Felici is certainly banned...

The judges’ role is not just to score; they can pretty much tell if the Champions have drunk Felix Felici.

After Kael explained this, Conna reluctantly took back the Felix Felici.

Soon, the countdown to the start of the Tournament was less than a week.

Fred and George had been observing Ludo Bagman for over half a month.

But whether the other party discovered them or for some other reason, right until the third task was about to begin, he hadn’t met with Karkaroff again.

One was on the ship, the other at the Quidditch Pitch, and it was the same every day.

Although Fred and George were quite disappointed, they had to temporarily cease their actions.

Because exam week arrived.

No matter how much they didn’t care about grades, if they wanted to survive this holiday peacefully, they had to achieve somewhat decent results.

Along with it came the OWL exams.

For fifth-year students, at least during this week, even the upcoming Triwizard Tournament couldn’t pull their minds away from their textbooks; they had to force themselves to focus on the books.

...

The day before the competition, the dining tables in the Auditorium were bustling.

Conna had no interest in the noisy chatter around her; she was clutching a thick book, checking something inside.

Cho sat beside her, and there was a spread-open thick book in front of her too.

”I didn’t expect the OWL exams to be so much tougher than our regular final exams... I made many mistakes in yesterday’s Transfiguration exam.

”Oh, it turns out there are three points to pay attention to in multiple transformations, but I only remembered two. If I can’t get into the advanced class because of this, then...”

”Relax, Cho, don’t be so tense.” Cedric handed her a cup of pumpkin juice.

”OWL exams are like that—the difficulty might make you feel a bit uncomfortable.

”I was the same; I felt like I made many mistakes and was so anxious I couldn’t sleep... But when the scores actually came out, it wasn’t as bad as I imagined.

I heard the Wizard Examination Board has a separate scoring system for OWLs which is different from our regular final exams.”

”But I really did make mistakes.” Cho didn’t seem much more relaxed, now she didn’t even want to eat, feeling she still had plenty of things to memorize, hoping to review more before the next exam.

Conna thought the same way, although she was eating, her eyes never left the book’s contents.

As for Mikel and Ryan... they had fallen into complete silence, sitting there like lost souls, trying to shove steak up their noses.

But Kael was free from such worries. Earlier that morning, when he went to the classroom with Conna, he was informed as one of the Triwizard Tournament Champions, he didn’t need to take the OWL exams.

”They originally planned to arrange a special exam for you after the Triwizard Tournament, but I don’t think it’s necessary.”

Professor Marchbank, over a hundred years old, stood at the door saying, ”I’ve seen your previous results... At least while I’ve been overseeing exams, no one has scored higher than you, including Dumbledore.

”And your article for Today’s Transfiguration... to be honest, it could get full marks even in the N.E.W.T. exams.

”So go do whatever you want—prepare for the third event or relax and enjoy the scenery... you don’t need to waste time on Parchment.”

Thus, with the special permission from Professor Marchbank, Kael sat in the empty common lounge all morning.

To be honest, it was quite boring.
