Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 596: Chapter 594: Reversal

Upon seeing these three stand up, Chris understood everything clearly now,

Macnair could be ignored, but the remaining two...

Karkaroff was the headmaster of Durmstrang, at least for now, making him quite famous in the Magic Realm.

And Lucius Malfoy, the most popular person in the Ministry of Magic, heaven knows how much gold he spent.

If they were witnesses, no wonder the Ministry of Magic took this so seriously.

Chris, however, thought Karkaroff had fled after the Triwizard Tournament, but surprisingly, he dared to return.

”Alright, even if that’s the case, what about the notice?” Chris’s gaze flickered, he said coldly, ”We only received a notification about the Restraint Law, so we have the right to refuse additional charges...”

Saying this, he pulled Kai and prepared to leave the place.

”I’m afraid not.” A sharp voice rang out.

Another person stood up.

Dolores Umbridge, with a sickeningly fake smile on her face.

”Someone felt you might cover up the most critical evidence, so it’s strongly advised to conduct a surprise inspection in this manner.”

Her voice was high and sharp, as if someone were squeezing her throat, pretentious.

Kai swore he’d rather listen to a Fwooper sing all day than hear Umbridge say a single word.

But she herself had no such awareness.

”The Minister has agreed.” Umbridge said with a grin: ”Unless you wish to oppose the Ministry of Magic, you must undergo the inspection today.

”Of course, you can leave right now, but as soon as you exit this door, you’ll be considered guilty according to the Wizengamot’s regulations, and the Aurors will immediately arrest you.

”Rufus, I suppose the Aurors are already waiting, right?”

Scrimgeour’s eye twitched a few times, as if holding back some emotion, but he endured it and squeezed out a word from his mouth.

”Yes.”

”That’s good.” Umbridge said with a smile.

Chris’s face relaxed at this point, his hands moved slightly, and Kai noticed something dropped into his hand.

From the shape, it should be a Wand.

Kai quickly stepped forward two steps, subtly shaking his head at Chris.

”Are you sure you want to conduct an interrogation in this completely noncompliant manner?”

”I think I made myself very clear.” Umbridge said sharply: ”This is permitted by the Minister.”

”Alright, if that’s the case, I must remind you.”

Kai looked at her and smiled: ”Besides being a Hogwarts student, I have another identity... recipient of the Merlin Order Second Class Medal, and every recipient of the Merlin Order Second Class Medal is an honorary member of the Wizengamot.

”I believe you know what this means.”

Umbridge’s fake grin vanished, her whole demeanor turned intensely gloomy.

”It seems you understand.” Kai continued: ”Indeed, I have the right to apply for a Wizengamot Supreme Judgment.”

As soon as Kai finished speaking, a rustle of discussion erupted in the room, some people began to grow restless.

A student can be ignored, but if the student is a member of the Merlin Knight Order, it requires thorough consideration.

Wizengamot Supreme Judgment... If the charges don’t hold today, the consequences could be significant.

”Damn, how could I forget about this?” An old wizard said regretfully: ”Had I known, I would have attended Harry Potter’s trial.”

It’s not his fault for not remembering; the fact is, unlike the Savior next door, Kai carries too many titles.

Take the recent ones, for example,

Champion of the Triwizard Tournament, who collapsed a painstakingly arranged maze with a Charm, exposer of the Sirius Black incident, patching up a major Ministry of Magic blunder...

They hear Kai’s name annually, but the Merlin Order medal was some years ago, they really didn’t think about it for a moment.

Even Umbridge’s face changed as she couldn’t help but glance back at Lucius Malfoy.

”Of course, we’re well aware of this.”

Karkaroff stepped forward, stroked his goatee, declared righteously: ”But we aren’t prepared to keep silent about what we’ve seen due to considering gains and losses. As headmaster of Durmstrang, I will not allow myself to have such cowardly thoughts.”

”Wow, Headmaster Karkaroff is such a noble wizard.” Kai said, ”So why don’t you admit you’re a Death Eater then? When you were begging for forgiveness on your knees before someone, you didn’t have this face.”

Karkaroff’s hand jerked suddenly, pulling out a few strands of beard involuntarily.

But he couldn’t worry about the pain, instead he shouted harshly: ”You’re talking nonsense, You-Know-Who hasn’t resurrected, you’re spreading rumors just like Dumbledore, I suggest the Aurors should arrest you immediately...”

”Don’t get worked up, Headmaster Karkaroff.” Kai waved his hand, interrupting him, ”I never said You-Know-Who has resurrected, clearly it was you... Oh, I understand, you must be trying to shift the blame to me and hiding yourself with this method... Tsk, tsk, really smart.”

”You, you...” Karkaroff’s chest heaved violently, his hand unconsciously moved to the Wand.

”Igor.” Lucius frowned, reminded the agitated Karkaroff.

Then he ignored Kai, instead turning to Umbridge and Amelia Bones.

”Ladies, be careful not to fall for his deceit. I swear in the name of Malfoy, we did see with our own eyes, that he killed Mr. Theodore Nott.”

Looking at the serious faces of Lucius and Karkaroff, Umbridge finally relaxed, a fake smile reappearing on her face.

”How about using Legilimency?” Kael suddenly spoke up, ”Just saying it is somewhat childish; let’s go with Legilimency. Let the Aurors examine your memories, won’t that make everything clear?

”Of course, if you agree, I would also agree to undergo Legilimency. It’s more convenient that way, no need to waste time.”

Lucius didn’t speak, and Karkaroff shut his mouth.

Legilimency? Let the Aurors see them surrounding Voldemort back then, initiating attacks on Kael?

Don’t be ridiculous; if the memories were truly checked, the Aurors might immediately arrest the three of them.

They were there to deal with Kael, to weaken Dumbledore, not to turn themselves in.

But fortunately, Amelia Bones came to their rescue.

”Since 1975, the International Confederation of Wizards has banned the use of Legilimency in interrogations, so this method cannot be used.”

”What a pity.” Kael sneered at the three on stage.

This caused Karkaroff to yank out a few more beard hairs.

”No need for Legilimency,” Umbridge jumped in again, ”Rufus, go check his wand.”

Scrimgeour stood up with a somber face and walked towards Kael.

But as he extended his hand, he suddenly thought of something and withdrew it.

”Summoning Charm for Wand Detection Table.”

About ten seconds later, a strangely shaped table burst through the door, flying in.

Rather than a table, it looked more like a square stool, covered in dust, but vaguely a groove could be seen on its surface.

”Scourgify.”

Scrimgeour cleared his throat and said solemnly, ”According to regulations, we need to check your wand; now, please place your wand on the detection table.”

”No problem.”

Kael nodded and placed his wand horizontally in the table’s groove.

Scrimgeour also took out his own wand.

”Priori Incantatem!”

Kael saw the groove on the table flicker, and then, a gray smoke emerged from the connection of the two wands,

”Lighting Spell.”

Then another puff of smoke.

”Summoning Charm.”

”Repairing Charm.”

”Lighting Spell.”

Shadows of charms flew out from the tip of the wand, capturing everyone’s attention.

Expressions varied—some were tense, indifferent, expectant, sneering...

Until a special charm appeared, and some people’s attitudes changed dramatically.

It appeared as a ball of fire, then the flame stretched forward, paving a wide path.

”I imagine there’s no need to continue watching, right?” Kael was the first to speak, ”Everyone knows, this is the charm I used during the Triwizard Tournament; before that, I have always been at Hogwarts.

”Or do you think I deliberately skipped school to kill that... Nott?

”Of course, if you consider it necessary, I don’t mind.”

”No need.” Scrimgeour stowed his wand.

”No!” Karkaroff shouted loudly, ”This is deliberate; using such a basic charm to cover up the Fiendfyre Curse, we must continue checking.”

He had to admit, he was somewhat panicked.

Where’s the Fiendfyre Curse? Why is it missing!

”So you’re saying,” Kael looked at him and spoke lightly, ”I used a large-scale fire curse outside the school, and the Ministry of Magic didn’t find any trace; is that what you mean?”

This time, more gazes turned towards him.

”No need,” Scrimgeour said coldly.

He naturally knew this charm, wide in area, powerful; if used, it would definitely not be unnoticed.

Moreover, he already visited Ottery St Catchpole, where no traces of charms were found.

He also knew Kael had been at home since the holidays, going nowhere, only going out once via the Floo Network to the Leaky Cauldron, but soon returned.

So Karkaroff’s earlier words completely questioned the Aurors’ ability to do their job, and Scrimgeour was naturally displeased.

”You’re lying, I’m not implying that...” Karkaroff became more anxious, his face pale.

Something’s wrong, something’s wrong!

He clearly saw the charm Kael cast, so why has it suddenly disappeared now?
