Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 590: Chapter 588: Warning Letter from the Ministry of Magic

Looking at the owl that suddenly appeared in front of him and the letter on its claw, Kael wasn’t too concerned.

Lately, he has been receiving all kinds of letters, and it would be strange if he didn’t receive any someday.

But it’s worth Mr. Weasley running back during work... could it be the meeting Dumbledore holds, as mentioned by McPhail?

Kael took the envelope, pulled out the letter inside, and began reading it curiously.

Then his expression changed.

The letter wasn’t from Dumbledore, but from the Ministry of Magic, and its contents were so outrageous that Kael even thought he had misread it.

Or the people at the Ministry of Magic have gone mad.

”What is this?”

Seeing Kael not speaking, Fred and George curiously leaned in, reading the letter aloud.

”We have received a report that you used a Charm at the Leaky Cauldron at 10:36 this morning.

This action violated the ’Decree for the Reasonable Restriction of Underage Sorcery’. Please come to the Ministry of Magic before the morning of August 12th to explain, otherwise we have the right to expel you.

Mafalda...”

”No, did I misread it?”

Fred couldn’t help but shout: ”Or did I misread it, being warned for using a Charm at the Leaky Cauldron?”

”Are they crazy?” George also found it hard to accept, ”Or is there a Muggle hidden in the Leaky Cauldron?”

They remembered clearly, the so-called ’Restraint Law’ doesn’t allow underage wizards to use magic outside of school, but there’s a prerequisite, which is that there’s a Muggle nearby when using magic.

If this condition isn’t met, generally no one would care, especially at the Leaky Cauldron.

People who appear there are basically wizards, even if there are Muggles, they’re usually students’ parents. Everyone knows about the existence of wizards, so how did it violate the ’Restraint Law’?

”Mind your words, George.” Percy stepped forward, pretentiously tidying his collar.

”Regardless, underage wizards cannot use magic outside of school. It’s the rule, and has nothing to do with location.”

”Percy... How about moving your room to the garden, I feel you can certainly get along well with goblins.”

George glared at him displeased, ”The Leaky Cauldron is next to Diagon Alley, so many wizards gathered together, how can the Ministry of Magic say it was Kael who used magic, and not someone else?”

”That’s because... the Ministry of Magic must have their ways.” Percy stammered, ”In any case, Minister Fudge won’t be wrong, as long as Kael made a mistake, he must accept the punishment...”

”Just shut up, you big-headed boy!” Fred said irritably: ”Can you say you haven’t used magic while at home?”

”I haven’t...”

Before Percy could finish his sentence, George let out a snicker.

”I remember you seemed to use the Summoning Charm to find the glasses we hid.”

”Using the Stickfast Hex to seal envelopes, not letting us see them.”

”And the Repairing Charm...”

”The Lighting Spell...”

”The Repelling Spell...”

Various names continuously popped out from Fred and George’s mouths, and occasionally when they were stuck, Ron and Ginny would chime in.

With each name they said, Percy’s face grew darker, until finally, he could only shut his mouth and returned to his room silently.

”The annoying guy finally left.” Fred said, ”Ever since he got promoted, he’s become increasingly obnoxious.”

Then he turned to Mr. Weasley, ”Dad, what on earth is going on.”

”Yeah.” George said, ”Why would Kael be warned for using magic at the Leaky Cauldron.”

”I’m not sure either.” Mr. Weasley shook his head, ”It’s Mafalda who told me, she said someone insisted that Kael used a Charm outside of school, and made her send the warning letter.”

”Who is it?”

”She didn’t say.”

Mr. Weasley tapped his fingers on the table, hesitated for a moment before continuing: ”There’s also another thing.”

”What?”

”The people going to the Ministry of Magic this time aren’t just Kael, but also Harry.”

”Harry? Did he use magic in Diagon Alley too?”

”Not Diagon Alley, it was Little Whinging.” Mr. Weasley said, ”Moreover, he used magic right in front of three Muggles.”

Ron and Ginny stood up simultaneously.

”No, I have to go ask him.” Ron said anxiously, then turned and ran upstairs.

”The more troubling issue.” Mr. Weasley sighed, ”This is not the first time Harry used magic in front of Muggles, so Kael is just going to inquire, but he has to face a trial.”

”Trial?” Ginny’s face turned pale, ”Harry, will he be expelled?”

”No, he won’t!” Mr. Weasley shook his head firmly, ”They can’t expel Harry, and Dumbledore won’t agree either.”

”Sorry, kids, I may have some matters to attend to, oh and Kael...”

Mr. Weasley’s tone softened a bit, ”Don’t worry, as I said earlier, they can’t determine it was you or any other wizard in Diagon Alley using the Charm, so you’ll be fine, you just need to go through the motions.”

After speaking, Mr. Weasley hurriedly left the Shabby Residence.

Soon, Ginny also went back to her room, leaving only Kael, Fred, and George in the living room.

”You... did use a Charm?” Fred tentatively asked.

Kael nodded.

He admitted to that, to prevent anyone from eavesdropping when Rita Skeeter leaked information, he indeed used the Muffliato Charm, but the problem is, how did the Ministry of Magic know.

Could it be someone saw it?

But even if someone did see, it’s unnecessary to make a big deal out of it, since when did the people at the Ministry of Magic become so dutiful?

Kael felt there’s definitely something wrong here.

Did Rita Skeeter report it?

”No, it shouldn’t be.” Kael immediately dismissed the idea.

It’s not a matter of trusting Rita Skeeter’s character, but rather she wouldn’t dare, not with her Animagus identity, nor Fudge’s secrets can be cleared with just a few words.

Even for her own sake, Rita Skeeter wouldn’t report.

Could it still be because of Voldemort... Fudge knows he’s on Dumbledore’s side too?

That’s indeed probable, during the holiday he wrote quite a few letters, never hid them, so Fudge can reasonably know.

But just to mess with him over a few words, isn’t Fudge being a bit petty?

Kael casually tossed the letter aside.

”It’s okay, Kael.” Fred comforted him, ”There are many wizards in Diagon Alley, as long as you don’t admit it, they definitely won’t know you used magic.”

”Yeah.” George agreed, ”Besides, the Leaky Cauldron is full of wizards, using magic wouldn’t violate the ’Restraint Law’, they can’t do anything to you.”

”Mm, I know.” Kael nodded.

Although saying this, he was indeed disgusted by these tactics, including Harry’s situation, which probably couldn’t be separated from the Ministry of Magic.

Mr. Weasley had just mentioned he used magic in front of three Muggles, which are probably the Dursleys.

They should have investigated and known the Dursleys dislike Harry intensely, not only would they not testify for him, they might directly blame Harry.

Even if Harry protected them.

”Really... the Forbidden Forest is vast, and there are all kinds of birds.” Kael muttered softly.

...
