Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 595: Chapter 593: The Sudden Interrogation

When Kael came out of the Department of Mysteries, the Ministry of Magic had just reached working hours, but Diana wasn’t in a hurry to have Chris take Kael away.

”Give me your wand.” She said.

Although Kael was somewhat puzzled, he still took the wand out of his pocket and handed it over.

Diana took it, pressed her index finger against the tip, and then several red sparks flashed from the tip.

No one knew what Diana did, but her face certainly didn’t look good, something Chris’s inching away could clearly show.

Finally, Diana couldn’t help but raise her hand and tapped Kael on the head.

”Use Fiendfyre Curse less often in the future,” she said, ”This Charm is hard to control, and once discovered, the punishment is hardly lighter than an Unforgivable Curse.”

Though it didn’t hurt, Kael still covered his head, howling twice and defending himself:

”They were all Death Eaters, if I didn’t use Fiendfyre Curse, they would.”

”That’s indeed true...” Diana said, ”But as long as they haven’t been fully exposed, their identities aren’t Death Eaters, but your use of Fiendfyre Curse is a fact and easy to trace.”

”Priori Incantatem,” Kael murmured, feeling that this inquiry seemed not as simple as it looked.

”Looks like you’ve got it figured out.” Diana returned the wand to Kael, and with a hint of meaning, said: ”You should carry the box, be vigilant.”

...

Afterwards, Diana returned to the Department of Mysteries, while Chris took Kael on the elevator, ascending to the floor of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures.

While passing through the crowded corridor, Chris said: ”There’s still some time before the agreed time, let’s go pick up something first.”

This place was completely different from the Department of Mysteries, the corridor was piled with cardboard boxes and sundries everywhere, appearing extremely crowded.

”Sorry, excuse me.” A person dashed over from behind, holding a box.

”Bob?” Chris stopped him, ”Weren’t you with Amos in Cornwall?”

”Oh, Chris, I was just looking for you.” The staff member named Bob said, ”We found this over there.”

He pushed the box forward,

”Amos and I thought it was just an ordinary farm chicken, unexpectedly it spewed fire.”

Just as he spoke, a small flame sputtered out from the box, quickly burning a hole in the cardboard.

But fortunately, it was just a flame.

”Aguamenti!”

A stream of water poured on the box, putting out the flame timely.

Chris opened the box for a look and checked it with his wand.

”Obvious traces of Magic Text... Go find the people from the Law Enforcement Department, this act severely violates the Prohibition of Animal Breeding Experiments Law, let the Beater bring them back.”

”Alright, I’ll go right away.” Bob hurriedly headed back, but soon returned again.

”What should I do with this?” He lifted the box in his hand and asked.

”Send it to the forest, this can’t be released outside.”

Bob ran to the end of the corridor, opened a door, and went in.

”That’s the room for storing experimental animals.” Seeing Kael’s curious look, Chris explained: ”There’s a genuine forest inside, used for raising various confiscated Fantastic Beasts.”

”Oh...” Kael nodded, asking: ”Does this happen often?”

”Not infrequently.” Chris sighed, ”Sometimes a Wizard’s sudden inspiration can create a lot of trouble for us.”

Seeing Chris’s helpless expression, Kael instinctively thought of Hagrid.

He seemed to also belong to the ”sudden inspiration” group, like last year’s Blast-Ended Skrewt, though Chris probably didn’t know about it.

After that, Kael followed Chris to his office... the Deputy Minister’s office.

Chris seemed to have reinstated after a year as acting Minister.

”Who is the current Minister?” Kael asked.

”Not sure, the candidate hasn’t been decided yet.” Chris shook his head, ”But a few days ago there was news that Senior Deputy Minister Umbridge might temporarily take the Minister’s position.”

Chris spoke calmly, showing no dissatisfaction due to being ”demoted.”

”Alright, you sit for a bit.” He said, ”I need to find the materials prepared yesterday.”

Kael casually found a sofa and sat down, observing the office decorations.

The place was filled with dossiers, a few thorny sticks were randomly placed in the corner, and piles of parchment seemed to nearly reach the ceiling.

”Ah, found it!”

At this time, Chris retrieved a few pieces of parchment from the desk drawer.

Kael took a glance and noticed they were the contents he copied from the ”Restraint Law.”

”Preparing more is always good.” Chris said.

Afterwards they left the office, returning via the elevator to the Ministry of Magic’s hall.

Kael had come to find Professor McGonagall; Dumbledore mentioned she’d be waiting here, but Kael and Chris turned back and forth and didn’t see a trace of Professor McGonagall.

”Perhaps she went to the Law Enforcement Department early.” Chris glanced at the time, ”We have ten minutes, we should head over too.”

”Alright,” Kael said. He didn’t continue searching for Professor McGonagall, and together with Chris they went to the second floor, the location of the Law Enforcement Department.

But things changed here.

Their originally agreed venue was Amelia Bones’ office, but the staff leading them brought them to another room.

Seeing nearly thirty people lined up, Kael realized his previous feelings were correct.

If it were just the ”Restraint Law,” how could there be so many people... even Head of the Auror Office Scrimgeour was present.

”Theodore Nott is dead.”

Scrimgeour didn’t bother with pleasantries, once Kael entered, he ordered the door closed and asked expressionlessly: ”What’s your take on this?”

”Sorry, I don’t know who you’re talking about,” Kael said, ”And I came to the Ministry of Magic to explain using magic at the Leaky Cauldron, but your question is clearly unrelated.”

”Indeed, Scrimgeour.” Chris stood up, shielding Kael, with a dark expression asked:

”What are you doing? Our notification was about misuse of magic, not to assist you in investigating that Nott.”

”This is the Minister’s request, Chris.” A Witch beside Scrimgeour suddenly said: ”Someone claimed to have seen Theodore Nott die at the hands of this child, and he used Fiendfyre Curse, so we must investigate thoroughly.”

”Who!” Chris asked.

Amelia Bones reflexively looked behind her.

Meanwhile, three individuals stood from the last row.

”Walden Macnair... Igor Karkaroff, Lucius Malfoy...”

Chris read out their names one by one, his expression growing darker.

”They are the witnesses.” Amelia Bones said, ”Given Mr. Karkaroff’s status, we can’t ignore it, Chris, hope you understand.”
