Chapter 76: Chapter 76: Giant Infant

A giant, skinless blood-red baby lay horizontally at the end of the corridor, its eyes tightly shut, its chest rising and falling with each breath.

It seemed to be asleep.

”Boom boom~”

A red glow emanated from its heart, an indistinctly visible crimson heart rhythmically pulsing with the beat.

It wasn’t the sound of a drum, but the sound of its heart beating.

Su Changxing’s body went rigid, his breath suddenly halted, feeling his sanity level plummet, an indescribable sense of oppression overwhelming him.

Then he noticed that these plants were converging along the wall towards the baby’s back, gathering at its rear, reaching the most concentrated point.

These plants were connected to that baby!

”Let’s go.”

Su Changxing whispered very quietly, afraid of disturbing the monster, immediately turned around and withdrew.

Huang Biao and Zhu Wenwu hadn’t clearly seen what it was, only seeing a mass of moving red light, feeling a chill down their spines, immediately following Su Changxing as they retreated.

The three of them retreated silently into the quiet, their speed not much faster than when they came, except that they were all in a state of tension.

In the silence and solitude, Su Changxing’s mind accelerated, recalling the information he’d acquired over the past two days, suddenly realizing a serious issue that Extraordinary beings weren’t unaffected by the radiation from the energy in space.

On the contrary, Extraordinary beings were more susceptible, just able to maintain a certain sense of self under such influence.

All the survivors retained some zombie characteristics, especially the two masked men Su Changxing encountered before and after, both showing severe keratinization on their faces.

This was a sign of corpse transformation.

Su Chang estimated that those survivors chose to attack Huang Biao at night not just because nighttime vigilance was relaxed, but possibly because they were like zombies and were strongest at night.

So, Extraordinary beings could also be infected.

Those Extraordinary beings exhibited some zombie traits.

The survivors were human Extraordinary beings and zombie Extraordinary beings!

Or rather, they were somewhere between the two.

He might become infected faster than the average person, becoming a ”smart” zombie.

So could that ”Giant Infant” be a fully zombified ”Extraordinary”?

After walking more than a hundred meters, Huang Biao softly asked, ”What was that thing? Just seeing a shadow made my goosebumps rise.”

Su Changxing calmly said, ”Its appearance resembles a giant skinned baby, its body connected with these plants. It’s a complete monster.”

Huang Biao’s pupils trembled, his face shifted slightly, just the description filled him with horror.

Su Changxing noticed Zhu Wenwu’s expression was instead very calm, showing no trace of fear, indeed facing terror was the best way to overcome it.

Zhu Wenwu had grown!

Zhu Wenwu took a deep breath, slowly said, ”Walk slower, my legs are a bit weak.”

”I thought you weren’t scared.” Su Changxing stopped abruptly in front, turning back, said:

”The place we just were should be close to Shield Company, I saw a pipeline on the canal wall, could that be the outlet beneath Shield Company?”

Zhu Wenwu also stopped, thinking, ”Hmm, calculating the distance, it should be, the street’s sewer outlet should be behind that monster.”

Su Changxing paused, said, ”You guys go first, if the monster wakes up later, here might not be safe either.”

”Are you still going?” Huang Biao showed a hint of surprise, said, ”If you go, you’ll definitely wake up that monster.”

Su Changxing considered, said, ”I should be able to rush through directly, not much of a problem. You guys go first, after you’ve gone, I’ll go.”

He carefully thought, the location of the pipeline was in the middle of the corridor, entering there might not necessarily disturb the ”Giant Infant.”

Taking a step back, even if it did alarm the ”Giant Infant,” he should be able to get into the pipeline, and the size of the ”Giant Infant” was too large to follow.

Moreover, he had one reliance, which was the strong spirit resistance provided by the Dreamer, he should be able to withstand ordinary spiritual attacks.

Apart from spiritual attacks, other forms of attack wouldn’t easily hit him first.

This was a very aggressive decision, but Su Changxing wasn’t a conservative person.

This was an opportunity to enter Shield Company while the monster slept, and later there might not be such a chance.

”Good luck, hope we meet again.”

Huang Biao dragged Zhu Wenwu away, who still wanted to say something.

Su Changxing stood at his spot, watching the two disappear into the darkness, calculating the time.

Ten minutes later, he decisively turned and left, silently arriving at the previous position, once again seeing the sleeping ”baby,” his heart suddenly racing, feeling a wave of oppression.

This feeling was completely different from facing the Screamer, the Screamer felt more like a powerful beast, while the Giant Infant made him feel a disparity in the level of life.

Su Changxing half-crouched, inching forward, breathing, heartbeat, blood flow all slowed, minimizing his presence, as if in a special sleep state.

This was a derivative ability of the Dreamer, a clever use of the job’s trait.

He lowered his head, watching the clear water flow beneath his feet, praying in his heart that the monster wouldn’t wake.

But sometimes, the more one fears something, the more it comes.

Halfway there, the air suddenly froze, Su Changxing thoughtfully looked up, the ”Giant Infant” gazing at him with eyes like large red lanterns.

”Haha, hehe, wah~”

The Giant Infant opened its mouth, releasing childlike laughter.

”Hungry~”

”Eat~”

In the next moment, the entire space began to tremble, vines rolled up from the walls.

The ”Giant Infant” crawled towards him, making loud noises.

Su Changxing immediately stood up, left foot kicked sharply, rushed towards the Giant Infant, vines from all around curling towards him.

Along with the Giant Infant’s laughter, he distinctly felt a heaviness in his head, an acute pain at the back of his neck.

”Damn.”

Do these monsters all have spiritual attack abilities?

Suddenly, Su Changxing nearly stumbled forward, steadied himself and continued running.

The pipeline was very close, within a breath’s time he could reach it, while the ”Giant Infant” was still some distance away.

Su Changxing reached the pipeline entrance before the ”Giant Infant,” simultaneously aimed at the Infant’s pulsing heart, threw the steel saber in his hand, and without looking back, dove into the pipeline.

He reckoned the heart should be the Giant Infant’s weak point, if he could cleverly attack it and severely injure it, that would be ideal, even if not, he could test the Infant’s physical toughness.

”Clang clang clang~”

Shoes clattered on the pipeline, making a shaking sound.

Having run only a few steps, Su Changxing’s pupils suddenly contracted, his body like a kite with broken strings plunging forward, crashing heavily to the ground.

The intact underwear was soaked with bright red, warm blood.
