Chapter 63: Chapter 63: Nighttime Murder

Su Changxing picked up the short knife, cleaned it with a rag, and inserted it into the outer layer of his backpack. This knife was quite good, considering the craftsmanship, it was even better than the Steel Saber.

He looked at the corpse on the ground and was silent for a while, always feeling he had missed some key point. As he was about to turn and leave, he noticed a black crystal emerging from the chest of the corpse.

What is this?

The crystal gradually formed a complete sphere at a speed visible to the naked eye, emitting a faint glow in the night sky, its luster beautiful and moving.

Su Changxing stabbed a rushing zombie with one knife and picked up the crystal from the corpse with the other hand. He observed it for a while but couldn’t come to any conclusions.

He guessed that this thing might be related to the Extraordinary, so he casually put it into his backpack and headed towards the Mysterious Shop.

The Mysterious Shop had masked people keeping watch, so the rare resources inside might not have been redeemed yet.

”Unexpectedly, it isn’t Speed Enhancement, it’s really quite rare. But what on earth is this skill?”

Arriving at the Silver Gray Space, Su Changxing looked at the rare resources in the Mysterious Shop and was dumbfounded.

[Singing Skill (Rare, Quantity 2), 1500 Points]

[Singing Skill: Allows you to learn to sing but cannot compensate for your inherent deficiencies—tone deafness, throat issues, etc. Boys who can sing are always lucky.]

”Would I sing for zombies, to attract them to kill me? Or to ease loneliness in the apocalypse?”

Su Changxing ridiculed, unable to figure out what use this skill really had. However, he still tried to convince himself that existence is reasonable, thinking this skill must have its use.

I guess.

At least it could remedy some of his complete inability to sing.

Okay, it still feels useless.

Su Changxing ultimately exchanged for this skill, and as a burst of white light surged into his brain, a large amount of music-related knowledge flooded his mind.

He learned three basic singing techniques, various songs, and techniques to match these songs.

A wave of musical intuition washed over him.

”Ah, ah, ah, ah, the beautiful scenery of West Lake, March days, spring rain like wine, willows like smoke...”

Su Changxing savored it meticulously, confirming that it indeed sounded somewhat better than before.

This skill is indeed quite useful.

Immersed in his self-pleasure, Su Changxing suddenly stopped, a chill flashed in his eyes.

He remembered what he had missed; back at Huang Biao’s place, there was a newcomer with the same bright patterns.

”Could he be a survivor of this world too?”

The possibility was high, and those bright patterns were likely unique to the Extraordinary, allowing them to recognize each other.

Previously, the murderer who slaughtered that group might be a survivor of this world. They seemed to survive like zombies without the need for food, hence the resources weren’t plundered.

But why weren’t phones missing? Could they plunder phones too?

Su Changxing suddenly realized that Huang Biao’s base might be in danger now. Survivors of this world seemed to harbor great hostility towards them, perhaps with an unavoidable reason to kill them.

Thinking of this, he took out his phone to message Huang Biao immediately.

Please call me a good person: Huang Biao, where are you now? There’s something very important.

He waited for a few minutes without a reply.

Sleeping?

Su Changxing hesitated for a while, then thought of Zhu Wenwu’s ID ”Xiaoxin” and immediately messaged him.

Please call me a good person: Zhu Wenwu, I have something very important to tell you.

At this moment, Zhu Wenwu was lying on the ground cushioned with some worn-out clothes, feeling uncomfortable due to the damp and cold room.

He suddenly woke up in the middle of the night, unable to sleep, so he took out his phone to browse the forum, seeing some posts discussing zombie attacks, which made him even more sleepless.

He was always a timid person, having been mocked for it since childhood; after all, a man’s courage should be great.

But his sister was the complete opposite, always bold, enjoying horror movies, extreme sports, and playing horror games.

He never minded much, be it bold or timid, it wasn’t a big deal as they lived in a stable, civilized society.

Until coming here, he realized it wasn’t like that anymore. He needed to protect his sister, taking responsibility as the big brother.

”A private message received? Who would message me at this hour?”

Zhu Wenwu was puzzled, thinking there shouldn’t be anyone messaging him at this time.

Before coming to Huang Biao’s place, his principle was to minimize contact with others. The best way to solve danger was to avoid it ahead of time.

Xiaoxin: Who are you?

Please call me a good person: Su Changxing, we met this afternoon.

Zhu Wenwu jolted awake, his mind immediately cleared up; wasn’t this the murderer? What business could he have with me?

Xiaoxin: So it’s big brother! What can I do for you?

Su Changxing pondered for a moment and replied: I suspect a murderer is within your camp, and he may act tonight. Check for any anomalies, and if not, inform Boss Huang and have him message me.

The murderer claiming there’s a murderer among them?

Zhu Wenwu froze, unsure whether to believe Su Changxing. However, the actions Su Changxing requested seemed harmless, merely passing along a message.

Just as Zhu Wenwu was about to head out, he heard a muffled scream from outside, faint but clear.

Someone was dead.

There really is a murderer!

Zhu Wenwu was startled, immediately shaking Zhu Xin Xue awake.

”What’s going on...”

Zhu Xin Xue looked at Zhu Wenwu’s gesture to be quiet, immediately clearing up: ”What’s wrong?”

Zhu Wenwu’s expression was serious, whispering: ”Someone was killed outside, it might really be a murderer this time.”

Zhu Xin Xue was puzzled: ”How do you know?”

Zhu Wenwu operated his phone: ”Su Changxing told me, and then I heard the scream outside.”

”The murderer you mentioned?”

”Yes.”

Zhu Wenwu immediately replied via phone: What should I do now? The murderer seems to be outside the door.

Please call me a good person: Notify others through the forum now, then pick up weapons and fight him. If you’re going to die anyway, struggling might be better.

Zhu Wenwu’s hands trembled, starting to message others.

But most people were asleep at this time; those vigilantes on this floor were probably killed too. He only knew some of their IDs, unsure if anyone could see his messages.

”Da da da~”

The footsteps outside became clearer, closer.

Zhu Wenwu felt his heart racing, hands weak, slowly picking up the iron rod next to him:

”Xin Xue, I’ll fight him later. You find a chance to escape upstairs to Boss Huang’s place.”

Zhu Xin Xue picked up a wooden stick, blushing at her brother’s back for the first time, thinking Zhu Wenwu looked quite handsome and replied seriously:

”Make sure you hold him off; don’t die before I run.”

Zhu Wenwu took a deep breath, gripping the steel rod tightly, saying in a low voice: ”Can’t you be kind?”

”Between us, there’s no need for courtesy.” Zhu Xin Xue looked at the door and said: ”The door is locked; it won’t be easy for him to come in.”

The door lightly creaked, slowly pushing open, facing no obstacles.
