A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 250: Chapter 250: First Encounter with Faye Sterling (4)

Butler Turner’s arrival made the dinner even more lively. When the two elders of the Jennings family heard that the Sterlings had come to pick them up, they were so happy they couldn’t stop smiling. At last, they no longer had to worry about their daughter’s future!

Zachary and Zeke Jennings were even happier. Zachary was happy his sister would no longer be so lonely and helpless, struggling to raise her child all by herself. Zeke, however, was happy because Seraphina Sterling—that dangerous person—was returning to Aethelgard. His little shop would be much safer, and he wouldn’t have to constantly worry about getting thrown in jail again!

The only ones with mixed feelings were the younger members of the Jennings family, especially Sylvia Jennings. Just moments ago, she had been mocking Seraphina Sterling for getting kicked out of the Sterling Family and having to live off others’ charity. Now, in the blink of an eye, she had transformed back into the Sterling Family’s grand miss! Wasn’t that a blatant slap in the face?

As for Zoe Jennings, she just felt the gap between herself and Seraphina widening once more. The difference between a prestigious, wealthy family and an ordinary person... that kind of psychological gap was difficult to accept all at once.

Kimberly Jennings didn’t want to go back. Life in a prominent family was one of wealth and luxury, but it also came with far too many restrictions and concerns. However, Mr. Sterling was, after all, her father-in-law. With her husband deceased, she had a duty to show her filial respect. Besides, Seraphina had enrolled in a university in Aethelgard, so they had to return to the city anyway. Once Seraphina was in Aethelgard, Mr. Sterling would have found a way to bring her back into the family regardless.

In the end, Kimberly Jennings packed a few belongings, and together with Seraphina Sterling and Mr. Turner, she returned to Aethelgard.

「The Sterling Residence in Aethelgard.」

Walter Sterling sat firmly in the main hall, a full head of silver hair, leaning on his cane. His eyes were fixed on the entrance. He never imagined such a thing could happen when he was only away in Country M to recuperate for six months. The pain of losing his eldest son—of a parent having to bury their child—had only just begun to subside, and now he returned to find his daughter-in-law and granddaughter gone! This made the old patriarch deeply displeased with his second son’s family.

Although she had only been gone for a year, it felt like an entire lifetime had passed.

As she gazed upon the bustling, yet somehow unfamiliar, scenery, an indescribably complex emotion welled up inside Seraphina Sterling.

She was finally back! After all this time, she had returned! As she watched the glittering cityscape fly past the car window, familiar faces flashed through her mind: Faye Sterling, Justin Hale, Jasmine Faulkner, Rainie Hale...

’I’ve waited so long, planned for so long, and now I’ve finally set foot in Aethelgard again! This time, I will return as an avenger! I won’t let a single person who hurt me get away!’

Seraphina Sterling and Kimberly Jennings arrived back at the Sterling residence, where Walter Sterling had already arranged for a lavish lunch to welcome the mother-daughter duo.

”Dad, we’re home!” Looking at the silver-haired man, Kimberly Jennings suddenly felt a pang of selfishness. ’For my daughter’s sake, I forgot my duties as a daughter-in-law. My husband would probably blame me for this, wouldn’t he? For abandoning Dad just like that!’

”Grandpa, we’re back!”

Seraphina Sterling rushed forward, throwing her arms around the careworn old man. In the entire Sterling Family, besides her own parents, Grandpa was the one who cared for her and her mother the most. It was just that his age and limited energy meant he couldn’t always watch over them. ’If Grandpa had been home a year ago, we never would have been kicked out by Second Uncle’s family!’

”It’s good that you’re back! It’s good that you’re back! It’s good that you’re back!” Walter Sterling was overjoyed, beaming from ear to ear. Standing to the side, Butler Turner also smiled when he saw how happy the old master was. It was the first time in nearly a year he had seen him smile so happily.

”Housekeeper Warren, let’s eat,” Walter Sterling said, still beaming.

”In a few days, Grandpa will host a welcome-home banquet for you. We’ll invite all the prominent families in Aethelgard to meet the heiress of our Sterling Family! Right, and now that you’re back, let’s get your school enrollment sorted out. You’ll still attend Aethelgard Affiliated High. Mr. Turner, I’ll leave that to you!”
