A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 235: Chapter 235: Never Letting Go (5)

”What if I lose?” Seraphina Sterling flexed her arm, which was still a little numb. ’king is a formidable opponent. When it comes to guns, he’s never lost to anyone! It’s how he became the king of Nightfall!’

”Then you’ll come back with me to Nightfall! You’ll become one of us!” king declared, brandishing his pistol. ’Talent like this belongs in Nightfall!’

”Looks like I have no choice but to win, then!” ’She had no interest in becoming a mercenary. She still hadn’t gotten her revenge!’ ”How do we do this?”

”Right here,” king said, his expression calm. ”One magazine each. First to hit the other wins.”

The other men were terrified. ’What if Seraphina has no intention of winning? What if she just decides to shoot one of us? We’d be screwed! After all, even if she loses to king, she won’t die!’

”Looks like your men are worried!” Seraphina Sterling said, rolling her wrist and flicking off the safety. ’This really isn’t a good time for a duel with king!’

”We start on the count of three!” king said, deftly swapping magazines. The faint smile on his face vanished, replaced by a serious expression.

They stood back-to-back.

”Three!”

”Two!”

”One!”

Two shots rang out almost simultaneously. Before anyone could react, the other three men in the room were dead on the floor. In the hallway connecting the living room and the bedrooms, two more were killed instantly.

As he lowered his weapon, king grabbed Lott with one hand and dove for the corner!

The situation had reversed in an instant, and Lott couldn’t process what was happening. ’Why would my brother open fire on our own men?’ There was still no sound from the men outside the villa, but more figures now entered from the hallway.

Seraphina Sterling showed no mercy. Swift, ruthless, precise—before her opponents could even react, she had sent them to The Underworld.

A firefight erupted instantly.

The crack of gunfire was incessant.

”king, what’s happening?” Lott asked, catching the pistol king tossed him. His own men fighting each other... The sudden turn of events made his brain short-circuit; he simply couldn’t figure out what was going on.

”You’re a mercenary with that level of intelligence? I’m amazed you’ve managed to stay alive this long,” Seraphina Sterling taunted, not missing a beat as she fired.

”There’s a schism within Nightfall,” king explained. ”The men you brought with you all belong to Tony! They manipulated you into taking this contract just so they could use you as leverage to threaten me! To make me give up my position as king! Now do you understand? To you, these men are traitors!”

A bloodthirsty glint flashed in king’s deep blue eyes. Firing as he rapidly advanced, he yelled, ”If you want to live, stay close!”

Lott followed behind king, his eyes fixed on his brother’s steady back. In that moment, the full weight of his own insignificance crushed him. ’I’m king’s weakness. If it weren’t for me, he wouldn’t have to take such a risk!’

Gunshots rang out ceaselessly. They were outgunned. If they couldn’t break through and no backup arrived, the only thing waiting for them was death.

The three of them were pinned down in the hallway. It was their only way out. Of course, who knew how many more enemies were waiting outside the villa. But it was too early to worry about that. A machine gunner had the center of the hallway locked down, making it nearly impossible for them to even budge.

”king, who the hell did you piss off? They even brought out a machine gun! It’s obvious they’re ready to do whatever it takes to kill you!” Seraphina Sterling exclaimed. Watching the bullets fly, denser than a downpour, she had the sudden urge to just shoot king herself.
