A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 219: Chapter 219: The Scheming Seraphina (Part 2)

Leo Jennings had meant to grab her, to keep her from going in, but he was a step too slow. Seraphina Sterling was already inside by the time he reached out. With no other choice, he returned to the lobby. His task was a daunting one; Mr. Grant of Aethelgard was not an easy man to please or win over! This case was too important to Comfort Living Construction! There could be absolutely no room for error!

As Seraphina Sterling walked into the VIP room, her gaze landed on a pair of dark red, slim-fit trousers and a pure black shirt. A series of dazzling crystal buttons sparkled brilliantly on the garment. Seraphina couldn’t help but scoff inwardly. ’Rich people are really something else! They must have more money than they know what to do with!’

”Miss Sterling, long time no see.” Ronan Winters swiveled around in his chair. Seeing that her expression held not even a hint of shock, the smile at the corners of his mouth widened. ”You guessed it was me all along, didn’t you?”

Seraphina Sterling had neither the time nor the energy to get hung up on trivial matters. ”What can I do for you, Mr. Winters? You had someone come all the way to the lobby to invite me. Am I supposed to feel honored and surprised?”

’I’m rolling my eyes so hard right now. Is this guy an idiot? What are phones even for? If he really needed to find me, couldn’t he have just called? Did he have to be so high-profile about it?’

”Mr. Winters, I’m very busy. I mean, really busy. If you don’t have anything important to discuss, I’m leaving.”

Only then did Ronan Winters stand up and walk in front of Seraphina Sterling. ”I’m busy too! I came here to propose a change to our partnership. I feel we can take things a step further, strengthen our cooperation! For example, by increasing the investment amount!”

Initially, Ronan Winters hadn’t held out much hope for the partnership Seraphina Sterling had mentioned. He only agreed because of her relationship with Terrence Grant. Even then, the capital he invested was limited. The stock market was too volatile, and he’d been burned before, so he had been doubly and triply cautious about this venture.

He had already been prepared to write off the ten million as a total loss. But he never expected that Seraphina Sterling would actually manage to quintuple his ten-million investment in such a short period! How long had it even been? In the world of business, no investment could possibly generate such enormous returns so quickly! This time, he had truly witnessed Seraphina Sterling’s abilities. With such a powerful asset on his side, completely legitimizing the Winters Family was finally within reach! That was why he was so desperate to meet with her.

”Your memory doesn’t seem to be very good, Mr. Winters. I recall, at the start of our collaboration, I stressed multiple times that your initial investment amount would be your set amount for every investment thereafter, with no chance for changes! If you’ve forgotten, then consider what I just said a friendly reminder.”

She gave a faint smile. She had anticipated this situation from the very beginning. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have stipulated such firm conditions about the investment capital when negotiating the contract with Ronan Winters.

Ronan Winters’s expression faltered. He was filled with regret. ’If I hadn’t been so conservative and had just invested the fifty million up front, I wouldn’t have to be here haggling now! I could have made so much more, but my own caution made me miss out on such huge profits.’ It was a physically painful thought. ”One has to be flexible in business! Agreements can be refined! Nothing is non-negotiable. Go on, what are your conditions?”

”Conditions?” Seraphina Sterling’s bright eyes met Ronan Winters’s assured expression. ”There are no conditions. This matter is not negotiable.”

”You can have twenty percent of the profits!” Ronan Winters had been about to say ten percent, but seeing Seraphina Sterling’s unwavering expression, he raised his offer by ten percent on the spot. Money makes the world go ’round, after all. He refused to believe she would remain so steadfast in the face of such a massive potential gain.
