Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

Fang Yuan watched the girl, brimming with fighting spirit, and suddenly felt the urge to punch her until she cried.

’What is wrong with me? The cuter she is, the more I want to tease her...’ Fang Yuan shook his head, clearing his thoughts, and walked toward the ring as well. His gaze casually swept over the main entrance, but then he froze.

’What are those two doing here?’

·

At the front desk, the attendant sipped his coffee, a knowing, aunt-like smile on his face as he watched Fang Yuan and Xu Ruo walk up to the ring.

Su Zhi and Shao Ya were a god-tier couple, and watching them was like a personal attack on single people... but Fang Yuan and Xu Ruo were different.

One was cold on the outside but warm on the inside, with a deadpan face to boot. The other was a soft, adorable, clumsy little thing. He was shipping them so hard it hurt!

Besides, this pair was starting from scratch. There was something special about watching two people slowly grow closer—it had that feeling of watching something you’ve nurtured grow.

Speaking of which, he was currently following a pretty popular new Beast Taming novel. It had a very original perspective: a Black Fighting Emperor. Books from a Pet Beast’s point of view were notoriously hard to write!

The plot and everything were flawless, but the protagonist was a bit too ascetic. It made you wonder if the author just wasn’t interested in human women. It got to the point where even some no-romance readers couldn’t take it anymore and were desperately begging for the protagonist to wise up, which was a spectacle in itself on Qi Point lately...

He could understand it, though. After all, most authors weren’t good at writing romance, so it was normal to play to one’s strengths and avoid weaknesses. It’s just that such works would always have a slight flaw; you couldn’t exactly call them ”perfect.”

Of course, that wasn’t the main point.

The main point was that he’d heard the damn author had a stockpile of over a hundred Chapters! Damn it, when was he finally going to go premium? He was going to drain him dry when he did...

The attendant’s thoughts unknowingly drifted far away.

Yan Dingyi sipped his tea, his expression a mixture of complex emotions and sentimentality as he watched Xu Ruo and Fang Yuan’s ring.

The attendant noticed his expression and sidled over with a grin. ”Didn’t expect it, huh? Did our thick-browed, big-eyed Xiaoyuan disappoint you?”

”What nonsense are you talking about.”

Yan Dingyi averted his gaze and muttered, ”Xiaoyuan already said he’s just training with a classmate... I should be happy to see the children training so hard. How could I be disappointed!”

”Ah, yes, yes, yes~” the attendant said, leisurely sipping his coffee. ”The old drinker’s heart is not in the cup~”

Yan Dingyi fell silent and quietly drank his tea.

He had to admit, he was a bit shocked at first, but he had come to terms with it now.

Although this was indeed the first time he’d ever seen Fang Yuan meet up with a girl alone, judging by their behavior this morning, they really were just training seriously. There was no inappropriate conduct.

There were occasional moments of PDA that were painful for a single man to watch... but Yan Dingyi was willing to believe the two kids didn’t mean it.

He understood Xiaoyuan; Xiaoyuan wasn’t that kind of person.

This girl was also clearly a hardworking, serious, and good kid. She wouldn’t have any ulterior motives.

’If you put two non-flammable objects together, how could they possibly create a spark?’

’Impossible. Absolutely impossible. Unless Liu Yuhang could get a girlfriend, he’d sooner die than believe something like that could happen!’

The attendant suddenly exclaimed in pleasant surprise, ”Boss Yuhang? You’re here!”

A slightly shy male voice replied, ”What kind of boss am I? I’m just a flop...”

”Oh?” Yan Dingyi turned his head, both surprised and delighted, and sure enough, he saw the spirited young man who had left such a deep impression on him.

His slightly bronze skin gave him a more masculine air without ruining his youthful feel. And standing there in his school uniform, he seemed to purify the very space around him.

During the city league, Yan Dingyi had already been impressed by this hardworking and down-to-earth kid. He was the very definition of a glorious defeat.

And in the team selection trials that had just concluded, Liu Yuhang had his moment to shine. As the first single, he achieved a crushing victory, securing the first point for Huai City.

He was the first person to bring the Wave-Riding Duck, an Evolutionary Type that hadn’t been seen for seventy years, back into the light.

Although the Common Defense Alliance had intentionally avoided publicizing it for protection purposes, Yan Dingyi’s memory of this kid who’d stunned everyone was still fresh.

’This young man also seems to be Su Zhi’s class academic representative. Looks like all of Su Zhi’s classmates are pretty outstanding!’

”Hall Master Yan!” Liu Yuhang waved a greeting.

”Here to train, Xiaoliu!”

Yan Dingyi greeted him back with a smile, taking a light sip of his hot tea. ”By yourself? Want me to match you with a room? Though, there aren’t many your age who can take you on. We’d have to put you in an expert bracket...”

”Thank you, Hall Master Yan, but I’ve arranged to meet someone!”

”Oh, that’s great. Who’d you arrange to meet? Xiaocao?”

Yan Dingyi remembered that Liu Yuhang and Cao Mingyu were on good terms.

”No, Cao Mingyu is away traveling. I came with my deskmate. She said she was going to the supermarket and told me to go on ahead...” Liu Yuhang was just about to answer when he heard a flurry of footsteps from the entrance.

He turned around, and a thick, large ice cream cone came swooshing toward him, almost getting shoved right into his mouth.

”Ice cream’s here~!”

”Whoa!”

Katie was holding an ice cream cone in each hand, already eating one of them.

Seeing Liu Yuhang’s panic, Miao Yang giggled mischievously. The girl rose lightly onto her tiptoes and shoved the other cone into his mouth.

”My treat! Eat it while it’s hot!”

”How are you supposed to eat ice cream ’while it’s hot’...”

Katie said, full of confidence, ”You have to eat it quickly while the weather’s still hot! If it gets cold, then it won’t be the right time to eat it.”

’That actually makes sense. My repository of strange knowledge has grown...’ Liu Yuhang put the ice cream in his mouth and slowly savored it.

’It’s delicious. Tastes like yesterday’s sunset.’

Liu Yuhang ate his deskmate’s ice cream and waved the two tickets in his hand. ”We’re gonna head in, then.”

The attendant also waved them goodbye with a meaningful smile.

Yan Dingyi was frozen in his seat, his brain completely shut down. His right hand, holding the teacup, was stuck in place.

”Are you done eating? When you’re done, you can eat my fist.”

”Wow, you eat that fast? Careful you don’t get an upset stomach later...”

”Tch, I eat like this every day in Pearl Harbor, and I’ve never gotten an upset stomach. Hurry up and eat, don’t even think about stalling! We can’t wait to crush you guys!”

”Stop messing around, people are watching...”

”...”

Yan Dingyi didn’t want to drink his tea anymore.

He might as well pour this tea on his own crotch!

「Hundred Rivers, Celestial Paradise Battle Hall.」

”One order of boiled meat slices and one of spicy shrimp.” After ordering, Shen Chuqing poked Su Zhi with the menu. ”What’re you gettin’?”

Su Zhi looked for a moment before closing the menu. ”Let’s add an order of kung pao chicken, then.”

Although it was a Sichuan dish, it was universally popular across the country and was also a common homemade dish in Huai City.

Normally, when in Rome, one should do as the Romans do. Since they were in Hundred Rivers, he should have tried more Sichuan cuisine, but Shen Chuqing had already ordered two heavyweight contenders. Su Zhi scanned the menu twice and, considering how his butt would feel the next day, ultimately chose a relatively conservative option.

’Speaking of which, this kung pao chicken shouldn’t be too spicy, right? The kung pao chicken in Huai City is sweet...’

Su Zhi watched the server’s retreating back, debating whether he should emphasize his request.

As noon approached, the Celestial Paradise Battle Hall gradually filled with people. Not only were all the rings occupied, but the viewing areas on both sides were packed to the gills.

While waiting for their food, Su Zhi watched the other people’s Pet Beast Battles and, before he knew it, became completely engrossed.

Celestial Paradise was the Baichuan Province Capital, after all, so there were many high-level Beast Tamers in the Battle Hall. He even saw several Alliance Members sparring.

Some people came in groups. Two would go up to spar while the rest watched from below, eating hot pot, clapping, and cheering from time to time. Some people who were just there for a meal would also join the crowd of spectators. Soon, this scene could be seen everywhere in the Battle Hall, making it exceptionally lively.

It was as if the Pet Beast Battles became more exciting and the diners’ lunches became more delicious because of it.

’Suddenly, this feels like a pretty cool model. Maybe Huai City could do something like this too?’

’On second thought, probably not. The number and quality of Beast Tamers in Huai City couldn’t support this kind of model. And not all the Battle Halls in Hundred Rivers are like this; this is the province capital, after all...’ Su Zhi clicked his tongue with a hint of regret.

Seeing him so engrossed, Shen Chuqing smiled lightly. ”Are they really that good? I think you’re a better fighter than them.”

”Other people’s Pet Beasts have their own shining points. Humility is the key to progress,” Su Zhi said, his eyes still glued to the battles. Suddenly, the phone on the table buzzed.

[Shao Ya]: It’s noon! Su Baby, remember to eat lunch!

[Shao Ya]: Reminder complete!

[Su Zhi]: Roger that

[Shao Ya]: /HuajingCatMakingAHeart

Shen Chuqing leaned over with great interest. ”Ooh? Chatting with your little girlfriend?”

”Shoo, shoo...”

Su Zhi bent down to dodge, but when he saw Shao Ya’s next message, his eyes went wide on the spot.
