Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

While Hall Master Yan’s very resolve wavered, another battle was raging in the distant Hundred Rivers.

A blinding golden-red radiance enveloped the entire arena, like a sun rising from the ground.

The Energy Barrier at the command position automatically reduced its brightness for protection, yet even so, Su Zhi could hardly see anything on the arena floor.

With Lala at the center, as far as the eye could see, a dazzling fiery light covered everything.

”Yu Bao? Can you see all right?” Su Zhi asked with some concern.

”WOOF!” Yu Bao’s confident reply came from within the curtain of light.

Being the habitual show-off that he was, Yu Bao always carried a pair of sunglasses, and they had unexpectedly come in handy.

In reality, the light Lala emitted was so intense that it was still blinding even with sunglasses. Yu Bao had specifically coated the lenses with a thick layer of dust, which filtered the brightness down to a level he could just barely tolerate looking at directly.

What’s that? You’re asking where he pulled the sunglasses from?

That’s not important.

”La~ La~!”

Lala’s cry echoed across the arena.

’At the pinnacle of Pet Beasts, I stand proud before the world! So long as I, Lala, exist, I am the sky!’

’A true god cannot be looked upon directly. Surrender, Yu Bao!’

”WOOF!” Yu Bao’s response was a howling, vicious Furious Sand Blade, empowered from the inside out with Thick Earth Blessing. One could say it was utterly ferocious.

Yu Bao couldn’t see Lala, but that smug, punch-worthy cry echoed in his ears, making him grind his teeth in frustration.

’That trashy Round Pepper is not only showing off right in front of me, but it’s also stealing my lines!’

’Damn it! The pepper might be able to tolerate this, but this dog cannot!’

However, the actual results of this sharp assault were not quite to the dog’s liking.

Based on its own senses, the heat emanating from Lala shouldn’t be that high, yet the moment the Furious Sand Blade approached the fiery light surrounding Lala, it instantly evaporated. It was completely outrageous.

No other attacks could breach that thin membrane, either. It was like an invincible suit of battle armor that effectively made Lala untouchable.

Relying on this absurdly unfair cheat, Lala launched a counterattack, flying toward Yu Bao while spewing a dense barrage of flames.

”La!” Lala’s eyes glittered with a fiery battle spirit.

’I’ve played my trump card! Let’s have a good, satisfying brawl!’

Yu Bao paid it no mind and promptly turned tail and ran.

’Lala’s Fire Element Skills weren’t anything to be scared of once you figured them out, but that Flame Battle Armor was just insane. It could even swallow whole an Earth Element Skill empowered by Thick Earth Blessing.’

’If I accidentally touched that thing, my life as a Pet Beast would be over, wouldn’t it?’

’Showing off is a noble pursuit, but staying alive is more important! Only a sicko would want to tangle with something like that!’

He ran, it chased, and the atmosphere in the arena suddenly turned somewhat comical.

From her command position, Shen Chuqing calmly watched the scene unfold, a golden-red shimmer lingering at the corners of her eyes.

As the one who had unleashed the Beast Taming Talent, her eyes were not harmed by the intense light; she could even see everything within it clearly.

This was Shen Chuqing’s Beast Taming Talent: Golden Crow.

Effect: Envelops her Fire Element Pet Beast in a layer of extremely dense flame that emits a light too intense to be looked at directly. The heat from the flame barely radiates, but any physical object that comes into contact with this flame is instantly melted by a super-high temperature comparable to that of the sun’s surface.

Unless the opponent also possessed the Fire Attribute and had a grasp and understanding of it superior to Lala’s—enough to earn the recognition of the ”Golden Crow”—this Skill was virtually unbeatable.

’Su Zhi is very strong, it’s true, but now that I’ve unleashed my Beast Taming Talent, there shouldn’t be any suspense left in this fight.’

On the other side of the arena, Su Zhi’s mind raced.

’This level of Energy is obviously not something Lala can produce on its own. My initial hypothesis... is that the essence of Shen Chuqing’s Beast Taming Talent is to borrow Power from some powerful entity.’

”Arf?” Yu Bao, in the middle of fleeing for his life, perked up.

’So, in other words, that cheat-like Fire Robe isn’t actually under Lala’s conscious control?’

Su Zhi nodded. ”That’s right!”

Yu Bao blinked, lost in thought.

Su Zhi’s Beast Taming Talent was akin to allocating skill points; it didn’t amplify Power, but merely managed and redistributed what was already there. In essence, it was a completely different kind of ability.

Yes, this Fire Robe was more akin to Shao Ya’s Beast Taming Talent; the essence of her Forest Quartet was to borrow Power from the forest and plants!

Yu Bao didn’t know what entity Lala was borrowing Power from. The important thing was... when faced with Lala’s Flame Battle Armor, he felt a strange sense of déjà vu.

’Could it be that I actually know the deity they’ve invoked?’

Yu Bao immediately thought of his own yet-to-be-awakened Racial Skill: Yanhuang Blessing. It seemed the Yanhuang Blessing had this exact Effect. You couldn’t say they were just similar... they were one and the same.

Since he was running anyway, Yu Bao decided to focus his Spirit and try to perceive the Energy Fluctuation of the Flame Battle Armor.

He didn’t think much of it, but the moment he did, he sensed something...

Yu Bao discovered it was more than just déjà vu; the Fire Robe on Lala gave off a strangely intimate and familiar feeling, almost as if... it were his own.

Ah, this...

Yu Bao blinked his eyes, thought for a moment, then skidded to a halt.

”La?” Lala hadn’t expected him to be so bold as to actually stop running.

It only saw Yu Bao slowly turn around and look at it with a gaze so calm it was practically dripping with swagger.

Lala subconsciously took a step back, then an inexplicable surge of anger welled up inside it.

’He was the one I was chasing, so what’s the big idea turning the tables and trying to act cooler than me?’

’Damn it, is showing off more important than your life? You Huai City mutt, just die!’

Lala’s eyes turned fierce, and it lunged viciously at Yu Bao.

The Fire Robe, which looked as if it could incinerate everything, drew steadily closer. Despite not radiating any scorching heat, the sense of overwhelming pressure was maxed out.
