Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

[Assignable Attribute Points (Yu Bao)... 0.10]

After a fierce clash, Xiaoyue ran out of Energy to maintain his assault and was defeated.

Yu Bao had also used up a lot of energy, but the Yu Dian Farm Dog was a Warrior-class Pet Beast, after all, making it tougher than a Huajing Cat. Relying on a slight edge in stamina, Yu Bao ultimately won the battle.

He didn’t gain very many Points, though.

Unlike the fight against Diya, Yu Bao knew his big bro Xiaoyue inside and out, so the battle went relatively smoothly.

It was like the difference between fighting a regular boss for the first time and an Elite boss you’ve farmed many times. The former would actually be more difficult.

Of course, Yu Bao had actually farmed Diya many times, too...

But Diya’s Beast Tamer was Peng Kai, who almost always came at him with a completely new strategy, which was always a major headache.

Xiaoyue wasn’t like that. Once you figured out his battle tactics, the fight was practically in the bag.

’Of course, this isn’t to say my big bro Xiaoyue doesn’t understand tactics. It’s just that I, Yu Bao, am far too clever. Even for someone as strong as my big bro Xiaoyue, well...’

”Go ahead and boast to your bros, but don’t start believing your own hype.”

Su Zhi, exasperated, gave Yu Bao a flick on the head and switched to their private channel in the Beast Taming Space. ”If you hadn’t just gotten a batch of points this morning, it’s hard to say who would’ve had the last laugh. If Xiaoyue’s final Deep Forest Grip had been just a little stronger, you would’ve been the one knocked out of the ring.”

Yu Bao scratched his head, embarrassed.

’He understood the logic, of course, but wasn’t this way more impressive...?’

With all the practice matches concluded, the students signed out and headed home for dinner.

The school’s Battle Hall quickly emptied, and soon it was so quiet you could hear each other breathing.

The girl walked over with light steps, her hands behind her back. Her bright white hair bounced up and down, and her azure eyes sparkled.

”Congrats to Yu Bao for beating Xiaoyue again~”

”Haaaah~”

”And congrats to Su Baby, you got stronger again!”

”Haaah.”

”Pfft... What are you ’haaah’-ing for? I oughta punch you.”

Xiaoyue, already used to this, watched from the side with a blank expression, paws tucked. His gaze fell on Yu Bao, and a hint of teeth-grinding fury entered his eyes.

’When I saw that dumb little dog yesterday, his Energy Value definitely wasn’t this high... But today it shot up, just enough to surpass me.’

’Why is his Energy Value like constipation? Sometimes it doesn’t increase at all, and then when it does, it all comes out in one huge dump?’

”Haaaah~” Yu Bao, looking completely innocent, wagged his tail and came closer to nuzzle him.

’Thanks for going easy on me just now, big bro, letting me win for once~’

Xiaoyue, wearing his grumpiest cat face, wanted nothing to do with him.

But he was completely out of energy after their big battle, so he didn’t shoo Yu Bao away. He just lay on the ground and let him nuzzle.

’This wasn’t him just giving in, oh no. As the saying goes, a great man knows when to yield and when to stand firm. Although it looked like he was letting Yu Bao have his way with him, he was, in fact, still Yu Bao’s big bro.’

’That’s right. He was still the winner.’

”Chuuu...” Shan Bao chirped from her perch on Su Zhi’s shoulder, an excited blush appearing on her face.

’I so want to read an explicit fanfic starring them!’

’Too bad she was a total noob and couldn’t write... The light in Shan Bao’s eyes dimmed.’

’Speaking of which... Humans have those websites for serialized novels, right? I remember hearing that Papa Su Zhi is an author.’

’Does that mean they have the kind of novels I want to read, too? Maybe I should ask Papa?’

’No, no, no! If anyone found out she liked reading that kind of stuff, she would just die...’

’Mama Su Zhi pampers me. I’ll ask Mama another day!’

Shan Bao was lost in thought.

Su Zhi didn’t notice the little one’s thoughts. After all, perceiving a Pet Beast’s mental activity required concentration, and his attention was elsewhere at the moment.

The audience had dispersed, the electronic screens were dark, and the Saturday rush had come to a close. The boy and girl sat side by side on the edge of the ring, each with a bottle of soda.

”When are you leaving?” the girl asked, setting her bottle down beside her.

”My flight’s at ten tonight. I should arrive around six tomorrow morning,” Su Zhi answered immediately.

”According to the instructions from Senior Luo Sen, I’ll first visit the local Common Defense Alliance museum tomorrow. Then I’ll head to Fuguang Lake and the Luojin Mountain Range in that order. Vice Alliance Leader Gou from the Dark Alliance is also there, and he’ll help me arrange accommodations.

”The day after tomorrow, Vice Alliance Leader Gou will accompany me deep into the Luojin Mountain Range to the ruins of an ancient village. If I don’t find anything, I’ll catch a flight back late that night and be home in the early morning two days from now. If I do discover something, I might be a day or two late...”

Su Zhi spoke quickly and fluently; it was obvious he had rehearsed this in his head.

Shao Ya rested her chin on her hand, watching him rattle off the words. Her eyes curved into crescents, and finally, her lips couldn’t help but curve into a smile too, letting out a soft laugh. ”You don’t have to be so detailed.”

Su Zhi smiled. ”I was afraid you’d worry, so I thought it’d be better to give you all the details.”

”As if that would make me stop worrying.”

The girl muttered under her breath and wrapped her arms around him.

Su Zhi gently hugged her back. She usually acted like a dependable older sister, but in his arms, she felt so petite.

”You have to come back safe, okay?” she whispered, her voice close to his ear.

”I will.” Su Zhi smiled. ”You know me, I always play it safe. Even if Yu Bao doesn’t make it back, I’ll come back in one piece.”

”?” Yu Bao shot him a look before continuing to nuzzle Xiaoyue.

’Infuriated by my scummy Beast Tamer again today. Only big bro Xiaoyue’s body still holds a trace of warmth.’

”Besides, I have three Pet Beasts that are One-star or higher, and Yu Bao has even reached Two-star. Even if I run into real danger, I’ll be able to get out unscathed.”

”Hey, hey! Don’t jinx it...” Shao Ya was about to punch him, but then she asked curiously, ”Three? Is Wu Bao going too?”

”Wuu!”

A familiar insectoid chirp came from below the ring, and Wu Bao leaped up with a *thwip*.
