Chapter 121: Chapter 121: Anxious

Nina Jacobs had never awakened a Thunder Element Superpower herself.

But in her past life, Liam Grant’s use of his Thunder Element Superpower could only be described as masterful.

Her knowledge of the Thunder Element was more than just superficial.

Thunder Element attacks had extremely strong piercing power.

And they were incredibly precise.

The more you retreated, the more of a disadvantage you were at.

Besides, there wasn’t enough room in this hallway to back up anyway.

’I’m better off closing the distance and attacking him head-on.’

Nina Jacobs dodged the attack, her Fire Element Superpower rapidly spreading along the ground toward his feet.

At the same time, a flaming dagger materialized behind her.

It shot straight for the man’s face!

BANG!

The clash between the Fire Element and Thunder Element Superpowers erupted in a dazzling flash of light in the hallway.

”I’d really love to continue this fight with you,

but...”

The man had already spotted several squads of fully armed personnel in the distance.

He retreated toward the exit, raising one arm as he did.

”Trying to run?”

Nina Jacobs also saw the rescue teams rushing over.

But she also caught the smile in the corner of his eye as he turned his head.

’He seems to have come prepared!’

Nina Jacobs was fast, but the man had already dashed out the exit in an instant!

’A Speed Element Superpower User!’

’He’s actually a Dual Element User?’

At that same moment, a blinding Thunder Superpower suddenly shot upward.

The fluorescent lights on the ceiling of the shelter were instantly struck.

Screams erupted all around, and the crowd descended into chaos.

By the time Nina Jacobs rushed out of the hallway exit, the man had already vanished.

”Nina Jacobs, what happened?”

Chester Pearson found only Nina Jacobs there when he arrived.

”That man from before infiltrated the interrogation room.”

Nina Jacobs pointed in the direction the man had disappeared.

Unfortunately, there was no sign of him in the crowd.

’Right, Sherry Renner!’

Nina Jacobs spun around and ran toward the interrogation room.

Sherry Renner seemed to only have external injuries, though she was soaked to the bone and looked miserable.

”Cole Dempsey, his target was Cole Dempsey,

hurry and check on him.”

Sherry Renner was numb all over.

She had forgotten that water conducts electricity, and using her Water Element Superpower to attack the man had only put her at a disadvantage.

The others had all been electrocuted into unconsciousness.

”He’s dead,”

Nina Jacobs said as she walked out of one of the interrogation rooms.

The man’s only target was Cole Dempsey.

”He must be from the Alliance,”

Sherry Renner said.

”Did you get a clear look at his face?”

Chester Pearson asked.

Nina Jacobs shook her head.

”But I suspect it was Tyson Hughes.”

”Impossible. I saw Tyson Hughes get into a car with my own eyes just now,”

Chester Pearson refuted.

”How can you be so sure the man you saw was Tyson Hughes?

Maybe it was someone else.”

Nina Jacobs’s words took Chester Pearson a moment to process.

”The man who was in the meeting with you guys—I ran into him on the road earlier.

He’s an Earth Element Superpower User.”

And last time, Cole Dempsey had said that Tyson Hughes was a Thunder Element Superpower User.

That was why Nina Jacobs suspected the man in the meeting wasn’t actually Tyson Hughes.

”Then what’s their purpose in swapping identities like that?”

Chester Pearson asked with a frown.

’Could it really just be to kill Cole Dempsey?’

”That, I don’t know,”

”and I have no proof that the man just now was Tyson Hughes.

It’s all just a guess on my part,”

Nina Jacobs said truthfully.

Identifying someone based solely on their Superpower wasn’t always accurate.

Besides, the man from before was clearly a Dual Element Superpower User.

Chester Pearson cursed under his breath.

The people from the Superpower User Alliance had already left.

They had actually let those people assassinate a key witness right under their noses.

Even if Cole Dempsey wasn’t much use anymore.

”Maybe they were worried Cole Dempsey would tell us something?”

Nina Jacobs mused aloud.

’There must have been something Cole Dempsey knew that we never got to ask him.’

”If I’d known those people were up to no good,”

”I never would have let them leave so quickly,”

Chester Pearson said.

On top of that, they had taken dozens of Superpower Users with them.

The shelter had no mandatory jurisdiction over the survivors. Where they went was their own choice, so there was no way to stop those people from leaving.

Whether the outcome was good or bad was for them to bear on their own.

It was already three in the afternoon by the time Nina Jacobs took Sherry Renner to the infirmary and gave her statement.

When she returned to her quarters, however, there was no sign of Wayne Warner.

She was instantly filled with a bad feeling.

”Wayne Warner is missing?

Could he have remembered something and just left?”

It was the first time Daniel Hale had ever seen such an anxious look on Nina Jacobs’s face.

”All his things are still here. He probably didn’t leave on his own,”

Nina Jacobs said.

The show on the tablet was still playing, and there were unfinished snacks lying around...

Everything indicated that Wayne Warner had not intended to leave on his own.

She had even gone to Vera Coleman’s workplace, the infirmary, and Chelsea Walsh’s place.

But no one had seen Wayne Warner.

”Nina Jacobs, did you find him?

I have a lead, but...”

Leo Hale ran over, looking anxious and pulling a strange girl along behind him.

”What lead?”

Nina Jacobs asked.

”This is Bianca White. She knocked on the door looking for me, and Wayne Warner answered it.”

”Then a few men came over and took Wayne Warner away.”

Leo Hale looked guilt-ridden.

”When did this happen?”

Nina Jacobs asked immediately.

”It was... it was several hours ago...

I didn’t do it on purpose, I just wanted to ask him where Leo Hale was,

but he wouldn’t answer me...”

Bianca White was a little scared, which was why she hadn’t said anything right away.

”Who were those men?”

Nina Jacobs had actually already guessed one possibility.

’It was the same group that blocked their path before.’

”I don’t know...

Judging by their clothes, they looked like the people who were handing out flyers yesterday,”

Bianca White answered.

”People from the Superpower User Alliance?

But they already left...

Don’t tell me they kidnapped Wayne Warner?!”

The realization finally dawned on Leo Hale.

Wayne Warner had been kidnapped.

”Why would they kidnap Wayne Warner?”

Daniel Hale found it baffling.

Wayne Warner seemed harmless and had never caused any trouble.

”It’s a long story.”

’I should have thought of this sooner.’

The Quinn Group must be a joint venture between the Quinns and other parties.

That man must be connected to Seth Quinn.

”Then what do we do now?

Will Wayne Warner be okay?”

Leo Hale was also worried about Wayne Warner’s safety.

’Maybe if it wasn’t for Bianca White, Wayne Warner wouldn’t have been taken.’

”It was only a matter of time,”

”and this is something that needs to be dealt with.”

Even if Bianca White hadn’t knocked on the door, those people wouldn’t have let go of a lead like Wayne Warner so easily.

Before, she had only thought of avoiding the issue as much as possible.

But since the other party was so intent on pursuing it, she couldn’t just sit back and wait for the worst to happen.

”Nina, you...”

Looking at Nina Jacobs like this, Daniel Hale suddenly realized something.

’Nina isn’t planning to go rescue Wayne Warner, is she?’

But the Quinn Group was incredibly powerful.

”Quinn is in the North Suburbs. I’ll go with you to rescue Wayne Warner.”

Leo Hale felt it was his inescapable duty.

”No need. He’s one of mine, so I’ll be the one to save him.”

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to bring Leo Hale, but it would be more convenient for her to go alone.

”Take this. Protect everyone.”

Nina Jacobs took out the two ”Flowing Light Daggers” gifted by the system.

The Flowing Light Daggers were inherently of the Gold Attribute, which would likely make them a better fit for Leo Hale, a Gold Element Superpower User.

”Don’t worry, I won’t do anything reckless.”

”Uncle Hale, I need you to come with me to find Myra Lawson,”

Nina Jacobs said.

”Find Myra Lawson?”

A look of shock appeared in Daniel Hale’s eyes.

The arrival of the Superpower User Alliance this time could be said to have put the shelter in a delicate, passive position.

They even brazenly barged into an interrogation room and killed someone.

This was nothing less than a blatant provocation.

And yet, they had absolutely no evidence.

’Could it be that Nina Jacobs is thinking of...’
