Chapter 111: Chapter 111: The Strongest Gold Element Superpower Did Not Awaken

”Why? Just why haven’t I awakened my Superpower?”

Wyatt Jacobs stared at his hands in disbelief, willing a surge of Superpower to burst forth from them.

In his past life, it happened just like that—he suddenly awakened his Superpower.

But today, he had waited all day and still nothing...

”I’ve got it! It must be because I haven’t been out killing zombies.

I need to go out and kill more zombies, maybe even get chased by them,

that’s how I’ll awaken my Superpower at a critical moment!”

Wyatt Jacobs became more and more convinced he was right.

After all, at this time in their previous life, they were constantly outside, evading hordes of zombies.

”What you’re saying is a possibility,

but Liam’s Thunder Element Superpower hasn’t awakened.”

Simon Abbott’s words were like a bucket of cold water dumped over Wyatt Jacobs.

’That’s right. Liam Grant is out there killing zombies every day, but he still hasn’t awakened his Thunder Element Superpower.’

’He even got seriously injured by Nina Jacobs.’

”Right, Nina Jacobs!

Could it be because Nina Jacobs isn’t with us this time?

Did she suck away all our luck?

That has to be it!”

Wyatt Jacobs seethed, grinding his teeth in hatred.

”...”

Listening in, Nina Jacobs was utterly speechless.

”Sucking away luck is probably impossible,

but haven’t you all noticed? Nina Jacobs has gotten much stronger,”

Simon Abbott said.

Although Renee Strong was unwilling to admit it, she knew that Simon Abbott was telling the truth.

She had seen that video too.

Without them realizing it, Nina Jacobs had somehow grown into someone even more formidable than Liam Grant.

”But she’s just a Fire Element Superpower User,

She can’t even find anyone willing to team up with her, except for that one idiot who follows her around.”

Renee Strong retorted indignantly.

In their past life, Nina Jacobs had two Superpowers.

And they were the only ones willing to protect her.

”And that’s what’s so strange.”

In front of Simon Abbott was a personnel roster.

”What’s so strange about it?”

Renee Strong looked at the roster but didn’t see anything out of the ordinary.

”If we only look at the awakening of Superpowers,

only a few of us don’t match up.”

Simon Abbott said, pointing to the names he had marked.

Most of the people they knew in their past life have awakened the same Superpowers in this one.

The ones who are different from the last life...

...are Nina Jacobs, Liam Grant, and Wyatt Jacobs.

He still couldn’t figure out the connection between them.

”But you and I, plus Ivan Lawson and Shannon Renner, are exactly the same as before,”

Renee Strong said.

She refused to believe this all had something to do with Nina Jacobs.

”The same, yes, but our proficiency levels are different.”

After Simon Abbott spoke, Renee Strong’s expression turned even uglier.

’Proficiency levels aren’t just different.’

’I’m the most obvious example.’

Compared to her Healing Element Superpower in the past life, her proficiency this time around was utter garbage.

She wasn’t even as good as Josie Joyce from the infirmary.

”Maybe it really is like Wyatt Jacobs said,

we’ve had it too easy lately,”

Renee Strong said.

In their past life, they followed Nina Jacobs through life-and-death situations every day, never even getting a full night’s sleep.

After being reborn into this life, they had painstakingly stockpiled enough supplies, hoping to spend their days effortlessly crushing everyone else.

But it seemed that was no longer possible.

”That’s also a possibility.

As far as I know, Nina Jacobs is hardly ever in the shelter.

Perhaps it’s inevitable that she would surpass Liam.”

Simon Abbott sighed. ”Wanting to become a person above others with ease... perhaps that path is closed to us.”

”One more thing. I heard Myra Lawson and her group found a master of Mysticism,

and this master can divine the locations of supplies.”

”What did you say?

How is that even possible?”

Renee Strong seemed unconvinced.

”It’s just a rumor, so I can’t be sure if it’s true,

but to be safe, I suggest we collect the supplies at these locations first.”

Simon Abbott said, pointing to several spots on the map on the table.

”But those two Space Superpower Users just joined us.

What if they’re not reliable...”

Renee Strong seemed hesitant.

”They both have family here, which is the best leverage we have.

The supplies will be with them, which means they’ll be right under our noses.

At least that’s better than leaving them in a place where someone could break in at any moment.

Besides, don’t forget about the supplies we lost at the park...”

After Simon Abbott finished, Renee Strong also recalled that incident.

”Who the hell did it?

If I find them, I’ll chop them to pieces!”

Their supply cache at Breslin Park had been completely cleaned out by someone.

Not a single clue was left behind.

Those were supplies they were supposed to provide to the Superpower User Alliance as part of their cooperation, but someone else took them.

In the end, they had no choice but to move supplies from another cache to make amends.

”At least we still found some supplies.

The batch of supplies at the docks is too large. I’m afraid the two of them can’t fit it all in their spaces.

We’ll have to find another way.”

The mention of the supplies at the docks made Renee Strong feel a little better.

In their past life, Liam Grant and Nina Jacobs had found that batch of supplies together, and the quantity was substantial.

It was unlikely anyone would find them if they were left there for a short while.

She also needed supplies recently, especially since Liam Grant was so seriously injured and needed some nutritional supplements to recover.

”Simon, I want to go too.”

Wyatt Jacobs was naturally sensitive. As Simon Abbott and Renee Strong were talking, he even had the mistaken impression that they despised him.

’Is it because I haven’t awakened my Superpower...?’

Seeing Simon Abbott and Renee nod, Wyatt Jacobs breathed a sigh of relief.

No matter what, he had to awaken his Superpower!

’More supply caches?’

Nina Jacobs had overheard the crucial part, but unfortunately, they didn’t mention the specific locations of the supply caches.

’A map...’

Nina Jacobs heard them use the word ’map’.

’Liam Grant is injured. Maybe I can use this opportunity to try and steal the information on that map...’

Simon Abbott was indeed perceptive and suspicious.

He had already noticed the differences between this life and the last one among their group.

But this was all within her expectations.

Her only reason for not killing them yet was to find out who had paid to have her killed in her past life.

「For the next two or three days.」

Nina Jacobs took Sherry Renner and Leo Hale to kill zombies near the shelter’s checkpoints every day.

She would also set aside an hour to set up a stall on the second floor and sell supplies.

On this day, Nina Jacobs packed up her stall early.

Today, she was selling instant noodles in bags from various brands, along with some compressed biscuits and canned eight-treasure congee.

This assortment of miscellaneous food items made it look more like supplies she had scavenged from the outside.

They sold out in less than an hour.

”That girl is a fool. She has all this food and doesn’t even know to keep it for herself.”

A few other stall owners muttered as they watched Nina Jacobs’s departing figure.

They had asked her about it, but Nina Jacobs’s reply was that she couldn’t eat it all by herself.

”Yeah, right. Who in this day and age would worry about not being able to finish food?

But it’s a good thing she’s willing to sell.

I heard the special medicine she was selling before actually works. Wayne Abbott bought a few more bottles from her...”

Nina Jacobs ignored the surrounding chatter and slipped into the restroom, just as she had done before.

No one noticed a stall door silently swing open.

Having used the Invisibility Potion, Nina Jacobs checked the time.

3:30 in the afternoon.

This was the time when the shelter began distributing dinner.

Nina Jacobs planned to head to Simon Abbott and his group’s quarters to try her luck.
