Chapter 116: Chapter 116: The Alliance Has Come

The footage from the Little Zombie Rat showed large quantities of boxed supplies, just as she’d suspected.

There were boxes of ham sausages, self-heating hot pots, instant noodles, and other ready-to-eat foods.

There were also dried noodles, other dry goods, and a fair amount of smoked products.

”Looks like the zombies here were deliberately lured over,” Nina Jacobs concluded.

This abandoned factory was originally a chemical plant.

But it was piled high with so many supplies.

Someone was using this place as a secret supply cache.

The zombies were gathered here to protect these supplies.

After all, faced with such a massive horde, most people would choose to take a detour and leave.

’Except now, all these supplies are mine.’

Nina Jacobs quickly planned her next move.

”Once I lure them all away, you go shut the gate.”

Wayne Warner nodded.

After Nina Jacobs walked out the door, she became a blur before his eyes.

The moment Nina Jacobs entered the abandoned factory, the previously motionless zombies instantly turned ferocious, like a pebble dropped into still water.

ROAR!

But Nina Jacobs didn’t slow down.

She ran at top speed.

Along the way, she conveniently collected a few cars and electric scooters into her storage space.

In a clearing, Nina Jacobs piled up all the flammable and explosive materials she had just gathered.

”Close the gate,” Nina Jacobs said to Wayne Warner over the walkie-talkie.

Only then did Wayne Warner leave the safe house, forcefully pulling the rusty factory gates shut.

The thick iron chain was like soft clay in his hands as he firmly secured the gates to a nearby stone pillar.

Seeing that she had attracted a sufficient number of zombies, Nina Jacobs opened the gas caps on several cars.

Just as the zombies swarmed around the vehicles, several Fireballs shot out in unison, smashing into the open gas tanks!

BOOM! RUMBLE.

A chain of explosions rang out one after another.

Some zombies were instantly blown to pieces.

For the ones that survived the blast, Nina Jacobs drew her Fire Roaring Blade and charged.

Wayne Warner also began fighting his way through the zombies to meet up with Nina Jacobs.

Faced with a Gold Element mutant zombie that was attacking him, he caught its Gold Spike with his bare hands.

BANG!

The Gold Element mutant zombie used its Control to hurl a piece of scrap metal at him.

But Wayne Warner caught it with one hand and threw it back.

The piece of metal spun through the air and sliced off more than half of the Gold Element mutant zombie’s head.

Nina Jacobs noticed that Wayne Warner’s strength had improved again.

’If he keeps developing, he’ll definitely become a top-tier expert.’

She and Wayne Warner joined forces and wiped out the remaining zombies inside the abandoned factory.

The explosions had also attracted a large number of zombies from the surrounding area.

Fortunately, Wayne Warner had already closed the factory gates.

”Just need to hold out a little longer.”

According to the Little Zombie Rat’s footage, all the supplies were concentrated on the second and third floors.

Nina Jacobs had Wayne Warner kick down the doors one by one.

Then, starting on the second floor, she began to rapidly collect the supplies.

”There’s a serious amount of supplies here.”

If this really was Liam Grant’s group’s cache, then she had to admit, she was impressed.

The sheer volume of supplies was comparable to a large warehouse.

It wasn’t just food; there were also plenty of cold-weather items.

”Looks like it was them, no doubt about it.”

Nina Jacobs already had her answer the moment she saw the large quantities of cold-weather clothing.

In the second year of the apocalypse, there would be an extremely cold, freezing period lasting for several months.

The freezing weather had almost no effect on zombies, but it was devastating to humans, causing the price of cold-weather gear to skyrocket.

Liam Grant and his group knew this, which was why they had hoarded so much cold-weather clothing.

Just minutes before the zombies outside broke through the gates, Nina Jacobs and Wayne Warner scaled the courtyard wall and left the abandoned factory...

”You’ve earned an extra drumstick tonight.”

Nina Jacobs was in a very good mood on the way back.

To her surprise, Wayne Warner actually stammered out a reply, ”Th... Thank you.”

”You earned it,” Nina Jacobs replied with a smile, after a moment’s pause.

The day had been unexpectedly smooth.

It was only early afternoon when the two of them returned to the shelter.

But just after passing the first checkpoint, she sensed that something was amiss inside the shelter.

Every checkpoint was manned by fully armed personnel.

”What’s going on?” Nina Jacobs asked as she rolled down her window to register.

Warren Dempsey and the others all recognized Nina Jacobs.

She and her companion were often out killing zombies.

”The Superpower User Alliance is here,” Warren Dempsey replied in a low voice. ”The Director put us on high alert.”

”How many of them came?”

Nina Jacobs found it strange.

’How dare the people from the Superpower User Alliance come here? Do they have some kind of ace up their sleeve?’

”Not too many,” Warren Dempsey said. ”Just a few dozen people.”

”Got it, thanks.”

After completing the registration, Nina Jacobs continued driving toward the shelter.

’Just a few dozen people. That’s even more bizarre.’

When she saw the vehicles parked in the clearing ahead, Nina Jacobs’s fears were realized.

She recognized those vehicles.

They were the same ones that had blocked her and Wayne Warner earlier in the day.

Not wanting to cause trouble, Nina Jacobs parked the car and led Wayne Warner into the shelter through a side entrance.

But as soon as she entered, someone handed her a... flyer?

The person was smiling, and Nina Jacobs took it subconsciously.

”Recruitment?” Nina Jacobs frowned at the flyer in her hand.

’Isn’t this a recruitment flyer for the Superpower User Alliance? It’s just even gaudier than the previous ones. Wait, the Superpower User Alliance is recruiting inside the shelter now?’

”That’s right. The Alliance welcomes all aspiring individuals to join us,” the person handing out the flyers asked with a grin. ”Would you like to consider it, miss?”

”Not interested. And please get out of the way.”

Nina Jacobs gave it a single glance before tossing the flyer directly into a nearby trash can.

But the person with the flyers was still blocking the side entrance.

”Tossing it without even looking. It seems you already know about our Alliance.”

Hearing this, Nina Jacobs finally looked up at him.

It was an unfamiliar face.

Nina Jacobs was sure she didn’t know him.

”Whether I know or not, I’m not interested.”

Nina Jacobs sidestepped him and walked past.

”I hope we meet again,” she heard the man say from behind her.

The atmosphere inside the shelter was strange.

The stairs leading to the second floor were crowded with people, as if they were waiting for something.

Many of them wore expressions like they were waiting for a show to start.

Nina Jacobs took Wayne Warner back to their quarters via a different route.

But when she opened the door, she found that no one was there.

Not even Vera Coleman.

”Wait here for me. Don’t go anywhere,” Nina Jacobs said to Wayne Warner. ”I’m going to go see what’s happening.”

Wayne Warner was tall and muscular, making him stand out wherever he went.

Even though the shelter was crowded, she was worried he would be noticed by that man again.

After leaving, Nina Jacobs had intended to go to Vera Coleman’s workplace.

But she happened to run into Ian Chandler.

”Nina.”

Ian Chandler’s eyes lit up. After learning that Nina Jacobs had just returned, he explained the current situation to her.

”The Superpower User Alliance came here to demand people?” Nina Jacobs asked in surprise.

It turned out the Superpower User Alliance’s purpose in coming here was to demand the return of the Superpower Users the shelter had taken in a few days prior.

Ian Chandler nodded. ”They’re using the pretense of defecting to hold secret talks with my grandfather.”

”They’ve got some nerve,” Nina Jacobs scoffed. ’Defection is a lie. They’re probably here to snatch people.’

After all, in the apocalypse, besides supplies, the most precious resource was people.

Especially Superpower Users.
