Chapter 37: Chapter 37: It Was You Who Didn’t Open the Door

This was a common reaction for people facing zombies for the first time.

”Be careful, Nina.”

Vera Coleman watched the situation in the yard with concern.

Daniel Hale was currently fending off Orson Walsh with a clothes-drying pole.

”Miss Jacobs, was what I did just now unnecessary?”

Ian Chandler asked, confused.

His shoulder throw had been successful, so why did Nina Jacobs say it was an unnecessary move?

”The broadcast said not to get scratched or bitten.

The more contact you have with a zombie, the easier it is to get hurt, isn’t it?”

As she finished speaking, Nina Jacobs had already dodged nimbly behind Orson Walsh. A simple kick to his ankle sent him crashing to the ground.

Before he could get up, an axe struck Orson Walsh in the head. She even perfectly avoided the splattering liquid.

Ian Chandler stared, stunned.

Everyone present, except for Leo Hale, was shocked into silence.

”I knew it. You’ve been hiding this from us the whole time.”

Leo Hale kicked the zombie Orson Walsh’s body aside.

Seeing Nina Jacobs’s skills with his own eyes resolved all the questions he previously had.

’Maybe Nina Jacobs really is from the underworld.’

”It’s just a small hobby.”

Nina Jacobs could only offer that explanation.

”I get it now. Leo Hale, bring on the next one.”

Ian Chandler instantly understood what Nina Jacobs meant.

’When killing zombies, it’s best to do it in a single, fatal blow.’

Especially when he saw that the next one let out was the zombie George Crawford.

Nina Jacobs tossed the bloody axe aside.

It seemed she wouldn’t need to demonstrate again.

She hadn’t used any Superpowers just now, only the most basic methods to kill the zombie, all so the others could quickly understand and learn.

While the others practiced, Nina Jacobs also paid attention to what Liam Grant’s group was up to.

”What did you say?

Nina Jacobs awakened a Fire Element Superpower?”

Renee Strong asked with a frown.

In her previous life, Nina Jacobs had Speed and Space Element Superpowers.

Even though she was a Dual Element Superpower User, Renee wasn’t the least bit envious.

Because the combined value of those two elements couldn’t compare to her as an Advanced Healer.

But in this life, Nina Jacobs had to go and awaken a Fire Element Superpower.

”It’s fine. She doesn’t even know how to use it.

What’s even more infuriating is that some airhead girl awakened the Thunder Element,

and claimed it was just static electricity!

It’s making me so mad.”

After speaking, Wyatt Jacobs noticed that Liam Grant’s expression was grim.

”Are you saying Ian Chandler hasn’t turned into... that?”

Simon Abbott seemed more concerned about Ian Chandler’s situation.

”Yeah, apparently he was rescued in time.

But it’s obvious he still listens to whatever Nina Jacobs says.

That kid’s been a loser in both lives. Tsk.”

Wyatt Jacobs casually relayed the intel he had gathered from the other side.

”Damn it, why did it have to be her again!”

Renee Strong felt that Nina Jacobs had ruined all their plans.

If Nina Jacobs hadn’t shown up, they would have been the ones to find Ian Chandler.

But of course, it was Nina Jacobs again this time.

”I heard from that so-called aunt of mine that their group knocked on our door, but you guys didn’t open it.”

”What did you say?”

Wyatt Jacobs’s words made it even harder for Renee Strong to accept.

”So, why did Nina Jacobs and her group open the door specifically for them?”

Simon Abbott asked.

”If they never opened the door for outsiders before,

why for the group that had Ian Chandler with them?

Was it just a coincidence?”

Simon Abbott’s fingertips tapped a steady rhythm on the tabletop.

This was what he found strange as well.

”I heard from my aunt that it was because their group looked like trouble.

If they didn’t open up, they were going to climb the wall to get in. That’s probably why they opened the door.”

Wyatt Jacobs thought Simon Abbott was overthinking it.

After hearing this, Simon Abbott nodded. ”Knowing Nina Jacobs’s personality, she certainly wouldn’t just sit back and wait for disaster.”

Listening from a distance, Nina Jacobs also breathed a sigh of relief.

’As expected of Simon Abbott, his senses are as sharp as ever.’

”I can’t believe Ian Chandler’s space is that big.

It would’ve been great if he could have joined us.”

The prize was right in her grasp, and it just flew away. Renee Strong was filled with regret.

They had been too careless.

”He’s just a Space Superpower User. What’s so special about that?

Haven’t you guys already scouted one?”

Wyatt Jacobs had always believed that a Space Superpower User was just a walking container.

Without the protection of others, they were nothing.

Just like Nina Jacobs in their past life.

Listening to their conversation, Nina Jacobs finally learned that Liam Grant’s sister, Hannah Grant, had also awakened a Space Superpower. But her space was too small, so they had found someone else.

Nina Jacobs had no interest in listening to the rest of their conversation.

Before her, Ian Chandler had successfully killed the zombie George Crawford. He looked at Nina Jacobs, his eyes filled with the joy of victory.

”Impressive. Very good.”

Nina Jacobs’s praise made the smile on Ian Chandler’s face widen even more.

Meanwhile, Daniel Hale was no longer as frightened as before. He quickly coordinated with Leo Hale to kill the third zombie.

Seeing this, Chelsea Walsh gritted her teeth and finally joined them...

At the crack of dawn the next day, Daniel Hale had already prepared all the luggage, most of which belonged to Vera Coleman.

Seeing this, Ian Chandler directly stored all the luggage in his space.

”This Special Ability of yours is really useful.”

It was the first time any of them had seen Ian Chandler use his Space Superpower.

Upon seeing this, Leo Hale frantically brought out another pile of things for Ian Chandler to carry.

”What’s the use of bringing all this?” Chelsea Walsh watched speechlessly as Leo Hale took out a pile of shoes, jerseys, and other similar items.

”They’re collectibles, a small hobby.

What if... we can’t come back in the future?”

A wave of inexplicable sadness washed over Leo Hale.

For some reason, he had a feeling that he might never return to this home again...

”It’s okay, Leo Hale. I can fit a lot more.”

Ian Chandler turned and asked Nina Jacobs, ”Miss Jacobs, don’t you have any luggage?”

”Come to think of it, you didn’t seem to have any luggage when you arrived, did you?”

Leo Hale recalled the scene of Nina Jacobs’s arrival eight days ago.

Back then, he had thought Nina Jacobs was there to scam them out of their gold.

”I just have some spare clothes in the car.”

Nina Jacobs said.

Speaking of gold, Nina Jacobs had Daniel Hale take all the gold from the house.

Daniel Hale had originally planned to leave it in the safe at home, but Nina Jacobs mentioned that other survivors might take over the house after they left, so he took it all in one go.

His business had already gone completely down the drain, so there was no shame in taking the savings he had earned.

”Nina, the roads are dangerous. Why not let your Uncle Hale drive?”

Vera Coleman suggested, seeing her daughter already in the driver’s seat.

”No need. I’ll do it.”

Daniel Hale was an experienced driver.

But in the apocalypse, even an experienced driver couldn’t guarantee a foolproof journey.

”Goodbye, my sports car.”

Leo Hale stared wistfully at the expensive sports car he had bought, now just a heap of scrap metal.

”You should have learned from your sister and bought some gold.

At least you could have brought that with you now.”

Daniel Hale didn’t miss the chance to mock his son.

The car slowly drove out of the garage, and everyone inside held their breath nervously.

As the garage door opened, the few zombies outside slowly turned their heads.

Nina Jacobs stomped on the gas.

Outside the Hale Family’s main gate, Wyatt Jacobs had just taken down a few zombies and was about to knock when he saw a car speeding past.

”Wasn’t that Wyatt Jacobs?”

Vera Coleman and the others all saw him.

’If that’s Wyatt Jacobs, should we stop?’

”Too late.”

A smile touched the corners of Nina Jacobs’s lips as she sped straight ahead as fast as she could.
