After I Fully Prepared for the Apocalypse, the Ungrateful Cried with Regret

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: I Really Hope You Succeed in Teaming Up

[Based on the host’s actual user experience, the system has been optimized and upgraded.]

The system’s answer put Nina Jacobs’s mind at ease.

’It seems this Level Three safe house is the compensation for the system’s upgrade.’

But with her rebirth, the system had also reverted to its initial state.

There were no system storage slots.

The system store wasn’t open either.

But that was fine.

’I haven’t given those bastards their ’rewards’ yet.’

In her past life, the apocalypse didn’t arrive suddenly. It started with a global acid rain that left no corner untouched.

It wasn’t ordinary rain, but a corrosive acid rain.

This rain would last for a full seven days.

The acid rain was just the beginning. She had to find out if Liam Grant had been reborn as well.

At this time, Nina Jacobs and Liam Grant were still boyfriend and girlfriend.

And they had a date for lunch today.

Nina Jacobs arrived at the meeting spot on time, but there was no sign of Liam Grant.

In her previous life, on this very day, Liam Grant had arrived more than an hour early.

”As expected.”

Nina Jacobs sneered and feigned ignorance as she made the call.

He didn’t pick up at first, but he quickly called back. ”Nina Jacobs, I don’t think we’re a good match. What do you think?”

Detecting the probing tone in Liam Grant’s voice, Nina Jacobs feigned anger. ”Liam Grant, are you messing with me?”

Liam Grant fell silent for a moment before Nina Jacobs’s cold voice came through the phone:

”Fine, let’s break up. I also wish we’d never met, you scumbag!”

”See? I told you she couldn’t be like us.”

Renee Strong said, looking at Liam Grant, who was staring blankly at his phone.

”You’re right. With her reckless personality, she’d probably be on her way over with a knife to kill me by now.”

Liam Grant believed he knew Nina Jacobs very well.

The Nina Jacobs of his past life never seemed to be afraid of anything.

Despite not even having a decent Superpower, she dared to raid supply points all by herself.

Even after falling into someone else’s trap, she could still sleep soundly.

It was all thanks to them.

He had lost count of how many times he had saved her life.

’Even if I killed her, I wouldn’t owe her a thing!’

At this thought, the last vestiges of guilt Liam Grant had felt after his rebirth completely vanished.

”I’ll go contact Ivan Lawson and the others. We should get the old team back together.”

Without Nina Jacobs.

In their past life, Ivan Lawson and Simon Abbott were top-tier Superpower Users in their respective elements.

Liam Grant himself had awakened a Thunder and Fire Dual Element Superpower.

Renee Strong’s Healing Element Superpower could not only heal wounds in an instant but could even replenish the Superpowers of others.

Even Wyatt Jacobs, who awakened last, was one of them.

They were all among the best of the Superpower Users.

As a Space and Speed Dual Superpower User, Nina Jacobs controlled the vast quantities of supplies they found on each run, which gave them the capital to build a base.

In their eyes, those supplies were earned through their countless life-and-death battles.

They were merely being stored temporarily in Nina Jacobs’s space.

And yet, Nina Jacobs had taken the position of base leader.

’She really got off easy!’

”Don’t worry, I can hardly wait. We really have Nina Jacobs to thank for sending us back.”

Renee couldn’t hide her excitement.

Getting injured was a common occurrence in the apocalypse, and Healing Element Superpower Users were incredibly rare.

Not to mention she would soon become an Advanced Superpower User.

’So many powerful people will be willing to serve me!’

’Chaotic times create heroes, as they say.’

’There are still two days. I have to stock up on all the supplies I lacked in my past life!’

”I’ll leave the stockpiling for the next two days to you,” Liam Grant said, transferring a sum of money to Renee Strong.

He gazed out the window.

’Without Nina Jacobs this time, I’ll definitely climb even higher!’

Meanwhile, Nina Jacobs had already bought and ordered quite a few things from around the shopping mall.

She planned to return to the old house in the suburbs of City D and use it as her base of operations.

The area was sparsely populated, making it perfect for doing things that needed to be kept under wraps.

The old house had belonged to Nina Jacobs’s maternal grandmother. After her grandmother passed away, the house was left to Nina’s mother, Vera Coleman.

A few years ago, Vera Coleman remarried a nouveau riche man, and mother and daughter had grown distant since then. However, Vera would still transfer living expenses and tuition fees into her account every month without fail.

Thinking of her mother, Vera Coleman, and her stepfather, Daniel Hale, and his family, left Nina Jacobs with complicated feelings.

In her past life, when the acid rain began, Vera had urged Daniel Hale to drive to the school to pick her up. The two of them unexpectedly got into a car crash together on the way.

Thinking of this, Nina Jacobs sent a message to Vera Coleman, telling her that she had already returned to the old house.

In her previous life, Drakonia’s military was stationed in City D, and they quickly established the initial shelters.

And those shelters were built near the old house in the suburbs of City D.

When Nina Jacobs arrived, a pile of packages of all sizes was already sitting at the entrance to the old house.

These were all same-day delivery supplies she had ordered before Renee Strong woke up.

Public safety in Drakonia was excellent, so even if the packages were piled up at the door, no one would take them.

No one in the deserted alley paid her any mind.

After moving everything into the courtyard, Nina Jacobs went online and ordered another batch of daily necessities for next-day delivery, as well as waterproof jackets and pants, among other things.

”This still isn’t enough.”

Nina Jacobs knew that once the apocalypse began, the system would start issuing tasks.

Only by completing the initial ”zero-dollar purchase” tasks would she be rewarded with system storage slots.

The more ”zero-dollar purchase” tasks she completed, the more storage slots she could unlock.

The system’s storage slots were equivalent to a personal pocket dimension. In her past life, Nina Jacobs had always lied, claiming she had awakened a Space Superpower, when in reality, the first Superpower she awakened was the Speed Element Superpower.

’The more storage slots, the better. The same goes for supplies.’

Nina Jacobs took out a pile of bank cards and credit cards.

She had just gotten all of these from several nearby banks while she was waiting for Liam Grant.

In addition to the credit cards, she had also taken out several loans. The process went so smoothly because she used the old house as collateral.

Among them was a high-limit card that Daniel Hale had given her before.

Nina Jacobs checked the balance. To her surprise, it had 2,000,000 in it.

”It’s true what they say: poor people have a stack of cards, while rich people only need one.”

Nina Jacobs couldn’t help but sigh.

Her stack of credit cards and loans combined only amounted to a little over one million.

”Might as well use it.”

With over three million in hand, Nina Jacobs headed straight for a car dealership.

”This one. I want it now.”

Nina Jacobs pointed to a silver SUV. This type of vehicle was durable and sturdy.

Without a car, it would be impossible to get anywhere.

Most importantly, this SUV was made with acid and alkali-resistant materials, which could withstand the acid rain well.

Although she had the safe house, she couldn’t complete system tasks by just hiding inside it.

In her past life, she had to accommodate her teammates and missed out on many task rewards.

Fortunately, she was still in time for it all this time around.

Just then, Nina Jacobs received a call from Wyatt Jacobs.

His tone was probing.

”Nina, what’s wrong? You don’t sound like yourself.”

Before Wyatt Jacobs dropped his disguise, he had always maintained an innocent and harmless image.

It had to be said, this persona made it very easy to win people’s trust.

Nina Jacobs sighed and said, ”I got my heart broken.”

”Heartbroken? You mean Liam Grant...?”

”You know Liam Grant?”

Nina Jacobs was certain she had never mentioned Liam Grant’s name to Wyatt Jacobs.

Wyatt Jacobs was reborn, too.

”You mentioned him to me once. Uh, Nina, I won’t be coming over for the next couple of days. I have to go.”

Wyatt Jacobs hurriedly hung up the phone.

In her previous life, Wyatt Jacobs had come to City D on this very night to seek refuge with Nina Jacobs.

”I really hope you all succeed in teaming up.”

Nina Jacobs said, looking at the disconnected call.

Wyatt Jacobs wouldn’t awaken his Superpower right away. Given his selfish, risk-averse nature, he would definitely choose to cling to Liam Grant right now.

’Too bad for him. This time, that Superpower of his is never going to awaken.’
