After I Fully Prepared for the Apocalypse, the Ungrateful Cried with Regret

Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Liam Grant

”Stop!”

A familiar figure grabbed Ben Stone’s hand.

”?”

Nina Jacobs stared at Liam Grant, who had suddenly appeared before her, and memories of her past life instantly flooded her mind.

The same mall, the same Liam Grant.

In her past life, she had been harassed here as well, and it was Liam Grant who had beaten up the man for her.

’I can’t believe Ben Stone is in the same mall, too.’

”Are you okay?”

Liam Grant turned to face Nina Jacobs. Looking at her, he couldn’t help but feel a complex mix of emotions.

”Couldn’t be better.”

Nina Jacobs was telling the truth.

To Liam Grant, however, it sounded like she was just throwing a tantrum.

”He was exposed to the acid rain, so there’s no telling what kind of infectious diseases he might have. You should stay away from him.”

Liam Grant himself didn’t know why he had come to this mall, but he hadn’t actually expected to run into Nina Jacobs.

’Looks like Nina came to the same mall, just like in our past life.’

”Are you done?”

Nina Jacobs clearly paid no mind to Liam Grant’s words.

Still, she wondered why he was here too.

’Of course, I don’t believe Liam came here just to see me.’

”These are special times, so I’m willing to let some things slide. I can take you back to Prosperity Gardens.”

Hearing this, Nina Jacobs immediately became vigilant.

’How does he know I came from Prosperity Gardens?’

’Vera Coleman and Daniel Hale’s house is in the Prosperity Gardens Villa Area. Unless...’

”We were planning to start a business, so we rented a house there. Renee saw you there today. What a coincidence.”

’Liam Grant lies just like he did in our past life.’

”Not necessary.”

’I’m afraid I won’t be able to stop myself from wanting to kill him.’

”Still angry, hmm?”

Liam Grant was very tall. As he looked down at Nina Jacobs, he couldn’t help but think of their past life.

In their past life, he’d gotten into a fight here and was injured, even coming down with a high fever. It was Nina Jacobs who found medicine for him and took care of him all night...

When he woke up the next morning, his body had awakened a Superpower.

He would never forget the way Nina Jacobs looked when she praised him for being amazing.

’If only she could have stayed the same Nina from back then...’

”We’ve already broken up. Can you please stay away from me?”

’He’s so disgusting to look at.’

Just then, Renee Strong appeared in the main hall, seemingly out of nowhere.

”Liam, what are you doing?”

Renee Strong never would have imagined that when Liam Grant made an excuse to leave, it was to come here and see Nina Jacobs.

They had just finished organizing a nearby supply cache in the evening, only for the acid rain to arrive half an hour earlier than expected, trapping them in the warehouse.

’Liam Grant said he had some business to take care of here, and it turns out he came to see Nina Jacobs?’

”Renee, you’re here.”

Liam Grant pulled Renee Strong off to the side, and the two of them seemed to be discussing something.

But what they could never have imagined was that Nina Jacobs was listening to their every word using her ”Five Senses Enhancement.”

”So you came here for her? Have you forgotten what we talked about before?”

”I came here to find her. Don’t you know why?”

”You mean...”

Renee Strong seemed to have realized something as well.

Liam Grant glanced at Nina Jacobs, who stood in the distance with her back to them. Reassured, he continued speaking:

”We’ve hidden those warehouses as best we can, but there are too many supplies inside. It’s not a long-term solution. Nina Jacobs will awaken her Space Superpower in a couple of days. What if she’s willing to work for us?”

”But what if she refuses?” Renee Strong asked.

”Then we’ll find a way to make her agree.”

”Don’t forget, we’re the ones who know her best.”

Liam Grant’s words put Renee Strong at ease.

After exchanging a few more words, Liam Grant walked back over and said in a low voice:

”Renee said our car is just outside. I’ll take you back, and I can pay your mother a visit while I’m at it. I heard she’s pregnant. It’s not safe out there, and if anything happens, we guys can help look after things.”

Liam Grant had expected Nina Jacobs to agree after hearing his offer, but she didn’t even spare him a glance.

”Tell me, if these people knew you had a car and could leave, don’t you think someone might want to hitch a ride?” Nina Jacobs asked with a smile.

The people in the mall had all come seeking shelter. Many of them were injured and desperate to get to the nearest hospital.

But the entrances and exits to the underground parking garage were all blocked, and rescue teams couldn’t reach them yet.

If people found out now that there was a car that could leave, Liam Grant and Renee Strong probably wouldn’t be able to get away.

After all, humanity’s will to survive should never be underestimated.

”Still so stubborn. I hope you don’t come begging me for help later.”

Liam Grant shook his head.

’The acid rain is just the beginning. Tomorrow, I’ll awaken my Thunder Element Superpower.’

’In our past life, I was always the one protecting her.’

’Once the zombie virus truly breaks out, I’m sure Nina Jacobs will come begging to me soon enough.’

”Rely on you?”

Nina Jacobs’s eyes were filled with contempt.

”Don’t worry, whenever you decide to come, Liam and I will welcome you. Number 32, Prosperity Gardens. We’ll be waiting for you.”

Renee Strong walked over gracefully. At a time like this, she didn’t mind putting on a show of magnanimity.

It was the same in their past life. Whenever Liam Grant was injured, she would tend to his wounds, and when he was frustrated, she would be the one to comfort him.

Compared to Nina Jacobs’s wild and reckless nature, Liam Grant was someone who preferred to be looked up to by others.

’Well, now I’ve seen everything.’

’The looks on their faces are more confident than the last. I must have been way too easy to fool in my past life.’

’The nerve of them.’

So, she suddenly shouted:

”What did you say? You have a car to get out of here, and there’s room for more people?”

Sure enough, as soon as she finished speaking, everyone around them fixed their gazes on the trio.

”Do you really have a car? My kid is hurt, can you take him to the hospital first?”

”My wife, too! She’s in so much pain she can’t stand it! Take us first!”

”I can pay you! Any amount! Just take me home...”

Faced with the encroaching crowd, the color drained from Liam Grant’s and Renee Strong’s faces.

”I told you Nina Jacobs was no good,” Renee Strong said through gritted teeth.

Meanwhile, Nina Jacobs stood outside the crowd, looking like she was enjoying the show. She even gave them a sharp middle finger.

”It’s useless to say that now.”

Liam Grant hadn’t expected Nina Jacobs to actually pull a move like this.

He gave Nina Jacobs a deep, meaningful look, then grabbed Renee Strong and quickly pushed through the crowd.

”I need to go to the hospital! I need to go to the hospital...”

Ben Stone had clearly been frightened out of his wits. He looked dazed, repeating that same phrase over and over.

Nina Jacobs sighed.

’Ben Stone... he’s probably not going to make it.’

’Too much of his body has been corroded, especially the upper half of his face, which is closest to the central nervous system in his head.’

’For the next few days, he’ll probably remain weak and feverish. Once the acid rain stops, his body will enter the death phase. Then, the virus will take complete control of his body, causing him to reawaken as a zombie that attacks humans...’

Nevertheless, Nina Jacobs decided to take Ben Stone back to Daniel Hale’s house.

”I’ll get you out of here. Follow me.”
