You Were Told to Design Software, But You Created Tiktok?!

201: Section 201WeChat and Blue Wallet’s foray into the Lower-Tier Market officially concluded.

Everyone is now focused on how many loyal users the two software applications will retain from this event.

But what no one expected was that this number would exceed everyone’s imagination!

Chapter 135: Extremely Low Retention Rate, WeChat Announces Daily Active Users.

One month after Blue Wallet launched its update.

Ali Group Building.

Chairman’s Office.

“General Manager Ma.”

“According to the data from the past few days,”

“Blue Wallet’s daily active user count has basically stabilized and will no longer fluctuate significantly.”

The secretary’s voice rang in General Manager Ma’s ears.

Listening to his words, General Manager Ma’s expression was not very good, his brows tightly furrowed.

“I understand.”

“You may leave now.”

After the secretary left, General Manager Ma opened the folder in front of him.

This document recorded the changes in Blue Wallet’s daily active user count during this period.

It could be seen that after Blue Wallet’s rural outreach campaign ended, Blue Wallet’s daily active user count began to plummet.

This situation was actually within Ali Group’s expectations.

After all, a decrease in user count after such an event is very common.

Almost all large-scale promotional activities for all software applications experience user loss for a period after the event ends.

However, what Ali Group did not expect was that the duration of this user loss far exceeded their imagination.

Originally, in their estimation, the sharp decline in Blue Wallet’s user count would only last a week to ten days at most.

Previously, when Blue Wallet launched other activities to increase users, the subsequent user loss typically lasted for about the same number of days.

But this time, after the rural outreach campaign ended, Blue Wallet’s user loss continued for nearly twenty days!

It was not until a week ago that Blue Wallet’s user base slowly stabilized.

But after such a long period of user loss, Blue Wallet’s current daily active user count is far less than its peak of 800 million.

“How could it only be 630 million?”

“In the end, it only increased by a total of over 30 million users.”

Looking at the data in the document, General Manager Ma’s words still held some disbelief.

He never imagined that after this round of impact on the Lower-Tier Market, Blue Wallet would only be able to gain 30 million users.

It should be known that at the beginning, their Blue Wallet user count had increased by a full 200 million.

But after a month, only 30 million of these users remained.

Compared to Zhifubao’s previous activities, this user retention almost broke the lowest record.

Just as General Manager Ma was pondering whether this part of the Lower-Tier Market users simply had such low retention, the phone on his desk suddenly rang.

“General Manager Ma, General Manager Xiao Ma is requesting a video call.”

“Connect him.”

After hanging up the phone, General Manager Xiao Ma’s figure quickly appeared on General Manager Ma’s computer screen.

“General Manager Ma.”

“I heard that Blue Wallet’s final daily active users have finally stabilized, is that true?”

Facing General Manager Xiao Ma’s question, General Manager Ma slowly nodded.

Seeing this, General Manager Xiao Ma’s expression was also somewhat excited.

Because he had been closely following the information from Blue Wallet.

After all, Blue Wallet’s previous rural outreach campaign was exactly the same as WeChat’s, with virtually no other differences.

Therefore, he could directly infer WeChat’s user retention for the past month based on Blue Wallet’s user retention.

“What is Blue Wallet’s stable daily active user count now?”

General Manager Xiao Ma’s voice rang out again.

After a moment of silence, General Manager Ma slowly spoke.

“630 million.”

Hearing this number, General Manager Xiao Ma on the other end of the screen paused.

“How is it so low?”

“Based on our previous experience, activities that can increase hundreds of millions of users in a short period shouldn’t have such low user retention.”

General Manager Xiao Ma’s voice also conveyed considerable doubt.

Originally, when he learned that Blue Wallet’s peak daily active users had created a terrifying record of 800 million, he thought that Blue Wallet’s final daily active user count should be able to stabilize at least around 700 million.

But the current situation was that this number was only 630 million.

Compared to their QQ, it was only about 20 to 30 million more.

He had not expected this result either.

Listening to General Manager Xiao Ma’s questioning, General Manager Ma slowly began to speak.

“It seems that we overestimated the retention rate of this group of middle-aged and elderly users for software.”

“Previously, we always used the retention of young users to view older users, but in reality, although these older users will download Blue Wallet due to the rural outreach activities, not many ultimately stay and continue to use it.”

“The consumption habits of these older users in second and third-tier towns should still be primarily cash-based.”

“After they received free items through Blue Wallet, they uninstalled Blue Wallet not long after.”

Although he had only just received this data, General Manager Ma quickly deduced the reason for this result.

The retention rate of older users in second and third-tier cities was indeed very low.

Listening to General Manager Ma’s explanation, General Manager Xiao Ma on the other end of the screen slowly nodded.
