You Were Told to Design Software, But You Created Tiktok?!

86: Section 86Immediately after completing the onboarding process, Zhou Qiang finally arrived at Wang Mo’s office.

As soon as he entered Wang Mo’s office, Zhou Qiang blurted out the question he had been holding in for the entire trip.

”Mr. Wang.”

”What software do you want me to help you develop by recruiting me?”

”What is Junzi Group’s next software type?”

Facing Zhou Qiang’s inquiry, Wang Mo smiled.

”Mobile games.”

”Our next software type.”

”It’s a mobile game.”

Listening to Wang Mo’s words, Zhou Qiang was stunned.

”Mobile games?”

Wang Mo nodded.

”That’s right.”

”Our next software is a mobile game.”

After Wang Mo confirmed it, Zhou Qiang was a bit surprised.

He had thought Wang Mo recruited him to develop some new software, but he never expected that Wang Mo’s purpose in recruiting him was for a mobile game.

Now Zhou Qiang understood.

No wonder Zhang Fan said something about Wang Mo being interested in several game demos he developed as a college student when they were in Penguin Group’s reception room.

At the time, he hadn’t connected that statement with Wang Mo and didn’t truly believe he would be developing games after joining Junzi Group.

But now it seemed Zhang Fan had already hinted at it in his words.

At the same time, Wang Mo’s voice continued to resonate in the office.

”Not only are we developing a mobile game,”

”but this mobile game is also a MOBA type.”

After Wang Mo finished speaking, Zhou Qiang was stunned again.

”Is it a mobile game of the same type as Dota?”

Zhou Qiang thought he had misheard and wanted to confirm again.

After all, everyone knew that Penguin Group’s dota mobile game was nearing completion.

Why would any company choose to go head-to-head with Penguin Group at this time?

Listening to Zhou Qiang’s confusion, Wang Mo also smiled and said,

”That’s right, it’s a mobile game of the same type as Penguin Group’s Dota.”

Seeing Wang Mo confirm, Zhou Qiang immediately became anxious.

”Mr. Wang, you should know that Penguin Group will be launching its dota mobile game in just a few months, right?”

”The gaming sector is Penguin’s core business, and no company in Yan Country has ever directly defeated Penguin in the gaming field to date.”

”And now is a critical juncture where Penguin’s dota mobile game is about to enter open beta. Your choice to develop a new MOBA mobile game at this time is simply asking for trouble.”

After Zhou Qiang finished speaking, Zhang Fan, who was beside him, also clicked his tongue.

”I told the boss the same thing back then.”

”But no one can change the boss’s decisions, and when TikTok and Pinduoduo were in the development stage, no one was optimistic about them, but we still managed to make them successful, didn’t we?”

Listening to Zhang Fan’s words, Zhou Qiang opened his mouth.

”But...”

”This is truly going head-to-head with Penguin Group.”

”If we were developing other types of mobile games, perhaps we would still have a chance.”

”But the upcoming time point is the open beta of Penguin’s dota mobile game. I’ve worked at Penguin, so I’m very clear that this project is Penguin Group’s top priority moving forward.”

Zhang Fan took a deep breath.

”Li Wenqiu, the former Department Manager of the Micro-Reading Department, Zheng Haidi, the current Department Manager of the Technology Department, and Ma Liuyun, who is hailed as Ma Huateng’s successor, will all be in the Dota Mobile Department.”

”These few individuals can be said to be among the most capable people within Penguin Group right now.”

”Although Li Wenqiu was defeated by TikTok before, his experience and strength still make him an industry veteran.”

”The other two are also increasingly capable. Zheng Haidi is the Department Manager of the Technology Department.”

”Ma Liuyun is currently the Vice President of Penguin Group, young, promising, and extremely capable.”

Because of Penguin’s internal emphasis on the dota mobile game project, Zhang Fan also knew who the main people in charge of the project were.

These three individuals, any one of them, could independently lead and be responsible for a project.

And now, Ma Huateng had placed all three of them on a single project, which was enough to show how much importance Penguin Group placed on dota mobile game.

Listening to Zhou Qiang’s words, Wang Mo’s lips suddenly curved into a smile.

”Actually...”

Wang Mo paused.

”If it weren’t for Penguin’s dota mobile game about to launch, perhaps I wouldn’t have started making games yet.”

”I deliberately chose this timing.”

Wang Mo wasn’t worried in the slightest about Penguin Group’s upcoming dota mobile game.

Although Penguin’s Dota game was the absolute king on PC, and even had an update a few years ago, upgrading the old Dota to a new Dota with better graphics, this mobile game version was also developed based on the new Dota.

However, Wang Mo understood the Dota of his previous life very clearly.

Even Dota 2 didn’t retain too many users.

Whether it was the difficulty of getting started or other reasons, Dota was destined not to be a mass-market game.

The reason Dota was popular in this world was simply because there was no better competitor.

And this Dota Mobile, developed based on Dota 2, when it encountered a competitor like Honor of Kings, would only have one ultimate outcome: to be utterly defeated.

Listening to Wang Mo’s words, Zhou Qiang was immediately stunned.

He had never expected that Wang Mo was doing this on purpose.

Other companies avoided Penguin Group like the plague, yet Wang Mo deliberately wanted to confront them head-on.

The key was that it was on a core project of Penguin Group’s core business!

If Wang Mo’s idea were to be revealed, the entire Yan Country internet would probably think Wang Mo was crazy.

To create a similar project and confront Penguin when Penguin was dedicating all its efforts to promoting a core project was something no one in Yan Country had ever dared to do.

Even Ali Group, Penguin Group’s long-standing rival, dared not compete with Penguin in Penguin Group’s core business.

Of course, conversely, Penguin Group also dared not compete with Ali Group’s core business.
