The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 254: Chapter 130: This Time It’s a Swindler (Part 3)

”Ah, Tiantian’s birthday isn’t very good, Four Pillars Pure Yin...”

After coaxing his daughter to finish half a plate of rice cakes and seeing that she looked somewhat lethargic again, Su Min stayed by her side, letting her continue to sleep.

Seeing He Tiantian re-enter her dreams, although her breathing was somewhat labored, it was still relatively stable. He Qingfeng’s professional habit kicked in, and he couldn’t help but blurt out.

In terms of mysticism, a girl born under the Four Pillars Pure Yin is extraordinary and easily attracts ghosts and spirits.

A girl born in the Yin year, Yin month, Yin day, and Yin hour, if there’s indeed some foul sorcery, would surely be captured and refined, or used as an alchemical crucible.

If she’s fortunate, she might even develop abilities like the Yin Yang Eye.

”That’s nonsense! What Pure Yin and Pure Yang? Are there even ghosts in this world?”

Su Min lowered her voice, scolding her husband.

Just as He Tiantian guessed, although people in several villages around call her ”Immortal Nun Su”, she herself doesn’t believe in ghosts or gods at all.

Instead, He Qingfeng, although also a nonbeliever, was adopted by an old Taoist priest from Guiyuan Temple as a child, grew up chanting the Tao Te Ching and drawing various talismans, and thus was accustomed to talking about these mysticism skills.

Of course, he was more concerned with researching the theory of Taoism, rather than actually believing in the existence of ghosts.

After all, having pretended to evoke spirits for over twenty years, he had never seen a ghost.

And the various ghost talismans he drew never showed any effect.

He Tiantian, with her eyes closed accepting the script, probably didn’t know what He Qingfeng was thinking, or else she would have inevitably sighed helplessly.

Real dad, it’s not that there are no ghosts in this world just because you haven’t seen them; it’s because your ability isn’t enough, and your cultivation isn’t sufficient—that’s why—

Of course, such a heartfelt remark, He Tiantian would definitely not say to her real dad.

Moreover, the protective He Tiantian, although she can see ghosts herself and knows that her real parents are swindlers, would still blatantly lie—

”Yes! Dad, you’re absolutely right!”

”This urban supernatural world derived from this novel has no ghosts at all.”

”The dark mist trailing behind my real mom, it’s just a bunch of gas, not some ghost from a desolate village.”

”And the golden specks floating around my real dad? They’re not Merit Golden Light, just halos caused by the lighting!”

Mom and dad say there are no ghosts, this novel’s world doesn’t have ghosts!

Student Xiao D: ... Can’t mess with a villain who covers for his parents, way too scary.

He Tiantian had already fully received the script.

Unsurprisingly, she’s still a villain, and even holds a substantial role in the story, being a boss-level villain.

He Tiantian’s parents, He Qingfeng, and Su Min are swindlers, however, they at least have a basic moral line they won’t cross, not conning people out of money or deliberately harming anyone.

They mostly sell spiritual-powerless talismans, performing rituals and dances for the superstitious elders in the villages.

They wouldn’t see a patient who’s critically ill and still peddle their ineffective talisman water and elixirs, thus endangering lives.

At most, they skirt on the edge of morality and law.

Of course, He Qingfeng and Su Min weren’t born swindlers; life forced them into these roles.

He Qingfeng was an abandoned baby, left in the mountains right after birth.

Luckily, an old Taoist priest from Guiyuan Temple found him while collecting herbs and brought him back to the temple.

Otherwise, he might have been fed to wolves or died from freezing or starvation.

The old Taoist priest saved He Qingfeng, seeing he was a healthy boy, he wanted to send him down the mountain.

Whether to an orphanage or a good family, anything would be better than being raised as a Taoist priest in a rundown temple.

But, people in the village below refused to take the child, even claiming he was a cursed lone star.

Not yet born, he had caused his grandmother and father’s death, and on the day of his birth, his uncle slipped seriously almost breaking a leg.

This scared the grandfathers and grandparents on both sides; nobody dared to take the child.

The child’s young mother, not wanting to be dragged down by him, planned to give him away.

But with such bad luck, who would dare to adopt him?

Even families desperate for a son to support them in their old age wouldn’t want a child that might hasten their journey to the underworld.

Bounced around, and eventually, for unknown reasons, the child ended up abandoned deep in the mountains.

”Old Taoist Priest, nobody wants this child, why don’t you keep him in the Taoist Temple?”

The village chief, relieved yet concerned when he saw the child saved by the old Taoist priest, wasn’t sure whether to feel relieved or tensed.
