The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 50: Chapter 050 I am the Evil Sister (Five)

”Ridiculous!”

The Grand Madam lightly tapped the table after hearing the report from Duke Wei.

The matters concerning He Tian’s courtyard must definitely be kept secret from the outside, but they could not be concealed from the Grand Madam of Duke Wei’s Mansion and Marquis Yongchang’s Mansion.

Although Grand Madam Hu verbally criticized He Tian for her foolishness, she was actually very pleased with He Tian’s self-punishment.

It was certainly wrong for He Tian to strike He Yi and to be caught in the act.

Even though both women bore the surname He and it seemed like an internal matter of the He Family,

as He Tiantian had said, He Tian was not only a daughter of the He Family but also the matriarch of Duke Wei’s Mansion, a First-Rank State Duchess.

A married daughter is like spilled water, as a hostess of Duke Mansion, her every word and action represented the entire Duke Mansion.

He Yi was a guest at Duke Mansion, and for the hostess to assault a guest was a matter that would make anyone shake their head.

However, He Tian was severely ill and could pass away at any time.

Given her condition, even if punishment was needed, it could not be too harsh.

If the Grand Madam truly punished He Tian and it led to some accident, the first to make trouble would surely be Marquis Yongchang’s Mansion!

This matter was indeed a delicate one, too light or too heavy, it was wrong either way to punish or not to punish.

It was best for He Tian to step forward and voluntarily undergo ”self-punishment.”

Thus, Duke Wei’s Mansion would have an explanation for Marquis Yongchang’s Mansion and need not worry about causing any greater conflicts.

”...Someone, go to my private storeroom and select some fine tonic medicines to send to the madam!”

Duke Wei was just about to speak a few words in defense of He Tian when he heard his mother give such an order.

Duke Wei: ...So, mother actually thinks this is the best way for He Tian, isn’t it?!

”In the past, I thought Lady He was too soft in her dealings, lacking the decisive brutality of a matriarch, but today, seeing her actions, she seems more like a qualified Duchess!”

The Grand Madam, seemingly oblivious to her son’s constipated expression, softly spoke in a low voice, ”Alas, it’s a pity that extreme cleverness invites disaster!”

Finally seeing some matriarchal presence from Lady He, yet she was already gravely ill.

And the more troublesome matter lay ahead, if Lady He died, the matter of finding another wife for her son would have to be pushed forward.

According to the Grand Madam’s wishes, she actually wanted to choose another noble lady.

Yet He Tian and Marquis Yongchang’s Mansion intended to send He Yi over.

As the person of highest status and seniority in Duke Mansion, the Grand Madam certainly did not care about the desires of Marquis Yongchang’s Mansion.

However, regarding He Tian, the Grand Madam could not disregard her.

Firstly, the Grand Madam owed He Tian’s mother, Wang Family a favor, though it seemed repaid during the marriage alliance made years ago.

But whenever the Grand Madam saw He Tian, who resembled Wang Family, she couldn’t help but feel a soft-heartedness.

Secondly, He Tian had been her daughter-in-law for several years and had borne a son for the Wei Family.

It was her only wish before passing away, and it seemed somewhat inhospitable to deny it.

But the He Family, alas, were becoming more disgraceful.

With such a large family and no shortage of men, how could they pin the prosperity of their clan on one woman?!

The Grand Madam truly had a low opinion of such behavior!

However, after today’s commotion by Lady He, it would be inappropriate for He Yi to continue staying at Duke Mansion.

With the rift between the cousins, He Tian and He Yi, the He Family would probably have to reconsider sending He Yi to marry into Duke Mansion.

Additionally, Lady He’s voluntary punishment to reject medical treatment for three days, could invite unforeseen incidents, which nobody could ascertain!

The Grand Madam thought it best to wait and then make a decision.

”Where is the Third Miss of the He Family?”

With a plan in mind, the Grand Madam deliberately asked this.

”My son had already sent Third Lady back to Marquis Yongchang’s Mansion, and prepared some gifts as well, instructing the steward to explain the matter to Second Uncle and Second Aunt well,” Duke Wei said, unaware of his own mother’s thoughts as he respectfully replied.

Third Lady?

Grand Madam raised her eyebrows slightly, sensing that her son’s reference to the He Family Third Miss was somewhat affectionate.

Could it be that he had taken a fancy to He Yi?

Grand Madam’s hand tightened around the prayer beads, yet her face remained composed, ”If that’s the case, it’s for the best! Ah, with such a scandal, Lady He will probably grow distant from her cousin and the Lord’s Mansion!”

Thus, it was unlikely that He Tian would still want his cousin He Yi to marry into the Duke Mansion as a secondary wife.

After all, He Tian couldn’t guarantee that He Yi wouldn’t hold a grudge against him and transfer that resentment to Brother Yuan!

Everything He Tian did was for his son, and he was already acting insanely.

He Tian would never allow anyone to have the opportunity to harm Brother Yuan!

”...It shouldn’t come to that. My son treats the Third Lady the same as he did previously with the Matriarch!”

Duke Wei was unconsciously defending He Yi, and didn’t even realize it himself.

Grand Madam’s knuckles had turned somewhat white; she quickly shifted the topic back to He Tian, ”Let’s not talk about this anymore. These next few days we should take extra care of Lady He—”

Duke Wei then came to his senses, quickly nodding his head, ”Right, right, you are correct, Mother!”

Duke Wei thought to himself that, before it got dark, he should make a quick trip to the palace and earnestly request the Emperor allow the Imperial Physician to stay at the Duke Mansion for a few days.

”He Tian” had sworn that the Imperial Physician would not treat her for three days, but if she truly were to lose consciousness, there would be no chance for her to object!

After hearing Duke Wei’s thoughts, Grand Madam nodded in approval: her son still had some sense after all.

...

”Tiantian, are you really not going to take your medicine for three days?”

Student Xiao D was worried, ”Not to be a prophet of doom, but this body is really at its last breath. If the medication is abruptly stopped, it—or rather, you—are very likely to die!”

Dying right after arriving would mean not being able to improve the world of the novel, and He Tiantian’s mission would be a failure.

Having successfully completed two missions alongside He Tiantian, Student Xiao D often quipped that she was ”becoming more like a villain,” but its core understood that He Tiantian was hardworking and intelligent.

With her intelligence and cunning, she shouldn’t be giving up so easily.

The start in this novel world was indeed tougher than the previous two, but it wasn’t exactly ”Hell Mode.”

With a bit of effort, He Tiantian could still turn the situation around.

How could she just—

”I haven’t given up!”

He Tiantian seemed able to read Student Xiao D’s inner voice, replying gently.

Being a doctor, the moment she had arrived, she had stealthily checked her own pulse.

She discovered that He Tian’s body was indeed extremely frail.

Then, He Tiantian had assimilated the original host’s memories, understanding her medical condition—

The main reason He Tian was severely ill was due to a miscarriage.

A month ago, He Tian had accidentally lost an undeveloped fetus.

Ever since, she had suffered from unstoppable bleeding.

The Duke Mansion had called many physicians, even the renowned gynecologist from the palace, but to no avail; they all diagnosed it as ”prolonged menorrhagia.”

None of the doctors had a better solution.

With the blood dripping continuously for a month, He Tian, a frail and delicate noblewoman, how could she endure such torment?

With excessive blood loss and incessant abdominal pain, He Tian had given up hope herself, and under such circumstances, she naturally presented a state of being critically ill...
