The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 44: Chapter 044 Boarding at School

He Shengli was so furious he almost smashed his phone to pieces, wishing he could confront He Tiantian and harshly discipline this disrespectful and ungrateful brat.

But, that was simply unrealistic.

Besides, a person with nothing to lose has no fear of one with everything to lose.

He Tiantian adopted a reckless stance, making it clear she had no desire to talk about feelings or filial piety with her real father, He Shengli, which meant he was out of options.

What?

Just ignore He Tiantian and leave her in the County, or send her back to the rural family home?

What a joke!

Haven’t you heard the audacious things she shouted over the phone? This ungrateful wretch dared to threaten to sue in court.

He Shengli was a public official, especially concerned with his reputation and image.

He wouldn’t even dare to argue with people on the street for fear of being recorded and exposed online. Whether or not he was at fault, his job would be affected as long as he held his official position.

Not to mention making a scene in court, especially with such a ridiculous lawsuit of a daughter suing her own father.

Just the thought of it made He Shengli’s heart race with anxiety.

”Shengli, don’t blame me for not raising your precious daughter properly. She may be young, but she’s got ideas well beyond her years. She’s threatening to go to court at the drop of a hat, not a shred of conscience in her!”

The phone call from He Shengnan made He Shengli feel even more at a loss.

”Sister, you’re saying it’s not your fault? Weren’t you the one who said she usually behaves well, is quite obedient, and timid—”

Full of anger, He Shengli received a call from his older sister and listened to her shirk responsibility, which fueled his irritation.

He Shengli retorted with annoyance, ”She dares to sue her own father, and you’re telling me she’s still timid?”

He Shengnan: ...

The old He Tiantian was indeed introverted and timid. Just a few intimidating words from her and Tiantian would be scared stiff.

But, He Shengnan never anticipated this wretched girl could suddenly become so troublesome.

”How would I know? She used to be so obedient. Maybe she simply doesn’t want to go to the Provincial City.”

He Shengnan made this call to shift the blame and to persuade He Shengli not to confront Tiantian head-on.

After all, Tiantian could cause trouble without a care, but both He Shengli and his wife had their reputations to consider.

If they ended up affecting their jobs over a matter involving Tiantian, she would surely be at fault, but as her foster mother and aunt, He Shengnan would share the blame.

Everyone would think that He Shengnan had failed to discipline He Tiantian properly, which led to all these issues.

He Shengnan also thought about her family’s support. Should trouble arise, she could rely on her brothers to stand by her, so she dared not offend them or He Shengli.

She made her point clear. If He Shengli didn’t heed her advice and ran into trouble, He Shengnan couldn’t be blamed.

”Anyway, that girl is just an ungrateful wretch with a heart of stone. She just told me that if it comes down to it, she’ll go to the television station—”

He Shengnan couldn’t be bothered to waste words with her brother anymore and brought up Tiantian’s most threatening statement.

”Go to the television station?” Indeed, these few words hit He Shengli right where it hurt.

At this moment, he no longer wanted to rush to the County or to personally discipline this unfilial daughter.

This, this brat was nothing but a little scoundrel, with not an iota of admiration or affection for her biological parents in her heart.

Such a person, too heartless.

If provoked, nobody could guarantee what she might do.

Once he detached from the so-called ”father-daughter” relationship and shed the so-called ”paternal” authority, and looked at the situation from a third-person perspective, He Shengli could finally calm down.

And why not? As the revered Golden Phoenix from He Family Village, a college graduate from the nineties, who had worked for over a decade in the Provincial City’s CF institutions, He Shengli’s IQ and EQ were both far from low.

Before, he would get angry, somewhat lose control, mainly because he found it unbelievable, feeling that his authority as a father had been challenged.

But when he had completely calmed down and seriously reflected on the whole situation, he was able to think more comprehensively.

”...Fine, it’s just child support of 2600 yuan a month. I’ll pay!”

Tiantian was his biological daughter after all, and if he were to bring her to the Provincial City, he would have to provide for her food and education.

However, in the Provincial City, He Shengli would still be the father high above all, controlling everything, a senior able to decide his child’s fate.

But now—

Well, as far as Tiantian, that unfilial daughter who didn’t think of family ties and failed to appreciate what she had, even if she were brought back, she would just be a nuisance.

”Isn’t she always quoting the law to me?”

With his mindset adjusted, He Shengli caught onto something that worked in his favor, ”Fine, I’ll talk to her about the law then! The law stipulates that supporting a child until eighteen is enough, and past eighteen, even if attending university, parents don’t have to give money!”

He wanted to see, once it got to that time, whether Tiantian, that defiant girl, would still dare to be so stubborn!

He Shengnan didn’t care how He Shengli dealt with Tiantian, as long as this father and daughter came to an understanding and stopped causing trouble, which would allow her to marry smoothly. The rest had nothing to do with her!

”He Tiantian, I’ve given you the money. I’ve also spoken to your dad on your behalf, he will transfer the child support to your account on time, and the amount will also be what you demanded!”

So, can you, little miss, hurry up and leave?

After the scene Tiantian had caused, He Shengnan dared not treat her as before, and her tone of voice became much more polite.

But Tiantian understood the underlying message in her words.

”Don’t worry, I’ll move out tomorrow!”

Tiantian checked her bank account on her phone, and would you believe it, her cheap real dad actually worked quite efficiently.

In just a matter of minutes, he had transferred 2600 yuan to Tiantian.

There was also the previous ten thousand that He Shengnan had given.

With over twelve thousand yuan, Tiantian could afford to rent a place on her own.

However, Tiantian didn’t want to do that; she planned to stay in the school dormitory first.

With this money, Tiantian also wanted to make some investments, aiming to earn enough for her university tuition and living expenses for the next four years after the college entrance exam.

Additionally, it was also for safety and reputation considerations.

He Shengnan would soon be married, and Tiantian had not gone to the Provincial City, nor had she returned to the rural home.

For a sixteen or seventeen-year-old girl living alone, it would be easy to draw unwanted attention and gossip.

Thanks to her foster mother, He Shengnan, Tiantian had been branded as a Little Fox Spirit since she was little.

Although she didn’t care about it now and planned to leave the small County in the future, it was still better to avoid such unnecessary troubles if possible.

With her time, she could study diligently or go visit Dian Niang to read some online novels. Wouldn’t that be delightful?!

”He Tiantian, do you want to apply for a dormitory stay?”

The homeroom teacher of High School Grade 2 Class 7, Teacher Fang, was a married woman in her thirties.

She seemed strict, but in reality, she was very kind.

”Um, my aunt is getting married, and I don’t want to go to the Provincial City to find my real parents. I want to continue staying in our class and finish high school!”

Tiantian said, looking pitiful.

”The semester is almost over, and we’re about to move up to the third year. It’s really not ideal to transfer schools at this time—”

Teacher Fang thought about it and nodded, ”Alright, I’ll arrange it for you.”

Just like that, that afternoon after school, Tiantian, with her backpack on, made her way to the female dormitory building of County First Middle School...
